Responding using my phone.... and I usually mess up when I do! You have all been warned. Ha ha ha
Sue, congrats on the new dishwasher and that it’s running so well. I am really happy for you that you have found a good handyman who can hopefully take care of all kinds of projects for you! And it’s a shame you did Not have quilting group, but perhaps it’s for the better. Hopefully everyone is healthy next week.
Ruth , I am watching the Bills football game ....and it’s one calamity after another. Hope they can win as I do not like the other team. Glad the table runner video makes good sense to you. They are fun and easy. We’re you able to find a pattern for Dh’s laptop case or is it your own design?
Phyl sounds like you had a fun day of bummin and shopping. Were you able to find something nice in Hobby lobby? I do like that store! I appreciate the advice on the shingles vaccine. I got Zostavax about 8 or 9 years ago. From what I just read the new vaccine is much more effective and I can get it even though I had the old vaccine. Will have to call my insurance to see what they cover.
Speaking of coverage got good news....I go for a routine colonoscopy in 2 weeks and the prep is at no cost. Every little bit helps. Pinned a bit of the second corner block. Will see tomorrow..
Hope CJ and Meg are enjoying their weekend Ginny

I see that they are over $39 on Amazon and only $17.99 at Joann's. Wouldn't help me though. It's not large enough for yarn. I see that one is made by Plano who also makes tackle boxes for fishing that look just like those only not in pastel colors.
Yes the Bill's did their usual...lost after doing so well in the beginning of the game. Now I'm kind of watching the Patriots who I don't like

Ginny, your post wasn't there when I came here jjust now. Phyl's was the last but your's mentions the game still being on so it must have been delayed in posting. Congrats on being able to work on that last blockFor the laptop holder I started using a pattern but now am doing my own thing. The pattern is one that is made much like some of the bags they have patterns for where you crochet in the round starting with crocheting down the chain then increase and then crochet down the other side of the chain, etc. I usually really mess these up but today I was able to get it right. The bad part is I used a hook that was too small. I shouldn't have followed the pattern on that. AFter that flat part I changed to a larger hook and it didn't work out all that well. I really should take out what I've made so far and start over.
Sue we had really bad wind here today too. At least we got to have a couple days of reasonable wind. And yes with all the open space here we also have had those "visitors" and use poison since we have no pets or children that it could endanger.Hubby also uses glue traps

Yeah, the dumb Bills lost....not too happy about that and I am wondering if New England can pull it off or will lose also. Ruth, I think you do this, but I routinely use an H hook- I crochet very tight and the H compensates for that. Hope you do not have to take much out to get that laptop holder done. Does Dh know that you are making it for him? G

I guess it's kinda payback Back in 1992 my mother and brother were here visiting from the Buffalo area. They were able to watch the game here and wouldn't have been able to if they'd been home as it was blacked out there. The Bills were behind the while game than by a couple miracles they were able to come back and win. Frank Reichs came in for Jim Kelly and they had a great field goal that won it for them. So today was opposite. Dh woke from his nap and I hated to have him go to his "man cave" so I just told him to change the channel away from the Patriots. He is not a football fan. He did watch a little of the Bill's game with me before he fell asleep.I wasn't interested enough in the Patriots game to go upstairs and watch.
I did rip out the part of the laptop case that I had done and started over. It's working much better now. I usually always use a H hook but I wanted it to be less dense so I went up to a J. and that didn't work out with the first part already done with an H. Plus I made a mistake and made it so I was making the long side not the narrower one. I wanted the narrower part to be the open side. Now I have to try it on his laptop to make sure that this one fits.I have about 5 inches of it done so far and it needs to be 15 so will try it now before I get more done in case I have to rip it out again but I don't think I will. I did make a 9 inch chain to start and after I added the next couple rows and measured it was 10 inches so a little wide so I think it will be fine with his laptop being thicker than most All day today I thought it was Sunday. Football being on is what did it I think. So we have one more day for this week's thread. Time is going by so fast!! I better get busy.

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today and enjoying the weekend It's cold and windy here, but partly sunny. After the roof issues I had a few years ago, I am not a fan of windy days The green fabrics I was talking about are for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge, which I want to do this year this year. Each month a color is given and then you can use your scraps/fabric to make whatever quilt block or item you want. Bright and light green is the color for January. I think I'm going to make Bowtie blocks. I looked through my scraps and I really don't have the greatest assortment of solid type colors - the majority of them are prints which don't work too well trying to pick just one color. So I think instead I'll use my fat quarters. I probably have 200 of them and it will be a nice chance to use them. I pulled out 4 different greens and pressed and starched them today. I'm going to use the same white on white fabric for all the blocks. I hope to get the pieces cut later so I can sew them this week. I think the blocks will finish around 8-9 inches and I'm going to make 4 of each color. Here's the website for the RSC Instructions: superscrappy.blogspot.com/ - scroll down to her January 1st post for info. I've enjoyed seeing what others are doing with the scraps and colors. I've also worked more on the stamped cross stich project that I've had for several years too. It has been nice to do some stitching in the evenings. There are 6 blocks that finish at 18x18 and I'll add some other fabric to make more blocks to make a lap size quilt, hopefully. These are the ones I'm working on now (but I have several other packages too): www.jdneedleart.com/shop/xx-pinwheel-18-quilt-blocks/I like the simple design of this embroidery and it will be fun to match up a pretty fabric to go with it. I still need to find some fabrics for my table runner, maybe I'll have time to look through my fabrics this week. Take care everyone!

Good morning CJ and all who come in later. There's very little wind here today which is what I really like. ONe of the nurses I used to work with always said the wind drove here crazy. I often wondered how it could do that when she'd lived here all her life. Now I see why.
CJ I love the sites you posted and esp love the little coin purses she made. I'm putting them on my sewing list. The embroidered quilt reminded me of a quilt that used to belong to my brother that died at 6 months of age. My mother put the little quilt into her cedar chest which I heard eventually was in the hands of my 3rd brother and I always wondered what happened to the little quilt. My brother said he doesn't really remember but he thinks the cedar chest fell apart and was thrown away. I have a hard time believing it fell apart because it was from about 1942 or so and those things were made well. They weren't just glued together.
I haven't done any sewing yet on the table runners because my "cutting table" aka dining room table is covered with houseplants that I moved there so they wouldn't be too close to the window and freeze so as soon as I find a cutting spot I'll get on that.

Ruth, the Annie's catalog for January 2020 is called "New Year, New Projects." If you don't receive it, it can be downloaded. On page 67, there's a new "Guide to Interfacings." The number is 422376.
I was intrigued by "Hooked on Quilted Crochet" on page 63.
Gusty winds again today. I remember one winter when there was almost no wind. This year is unusually windy. Every year is different! Teachers dread windy days. Students get hyper.

Sue, quilted crochet sounds interesting! Its been years since I checked out an Annies catalog. Do you think you will give it a try?
Ruth, I too would wonder what happened to that cedar chest and the little quilt. What a sad story losing your little brother at such a tender age. I am sure it would be so nice if somehow you could find that quilt.
CJ- will check out those sites as soon as I sign off here. Sounds like a lot of great creative ideas are on thei web sites. I like the idea of the bow tie blocks and a great way to use up fat quarters! Gee you have quite a collection of them- so I am sure you will find good fabrics to work with.
Ok- finished the second corner block and started on the third. Then my machine died. Similar issue, its the bobbin case not feeding right. I am going to take the machine elsewhere to make sure that its not repairable. Dh mentioned that I could take it to the shop several towns away when I go for a colonoscopy in weeks. I laughed. Sorry Honey, I am not waiting that long. And if he machine is indeed not worth repairing, think he will surprised at how quickly I start looking for another one.
Back to work on my pillowcases. Have a good night all GInny

Sue, I just received an Annie's catalog and threw it away without even looking at it. Now I wish I had kept it. I will look online though and I'll also looked for the quilted crochet. That does sound interesting. Well here we have wind every winter...and summer...etc, etc. When we first moved here our son was 9 and at school was in some kind of program. One of the things they did was sing a song called When the wind dies down in Casper about all the outrageous things they would do, with no chance of that happening. This morning actually we had practically no wind but it started up although not nearly as bad as most of the days recently
Ginny, it sounds like your machine is doing what my old one did. I did take it for repair. That was back in 2006 and it cost over $75 and after the first two uses did the same thing again but it was sporatic. I finally got tired of dealing with it because it was old anyway. I had that problem from the time I bought it. Should have taken it back right away but was moving into our new home right after I bought it back in 1984 and just didn't have the time as I was also working full time and had two small children. People told me it was because I put the bobbin in in the wrong direction. I don't think so and I know that you know how to put in your bobbin so it's not that in your case either.Anyway I'm sorry that your's died again.
I didn't find out that the Patriots lost until this afternoon. I was practically jumping for joy. Dh thought I was crazy. As I said he's not a football fan. I still can't believe the Titans beat them. I had told dh that the Titans might as well have stayed home because they had no chance.
Ok back to working on dh's laptop case. Spent a lot of time today doing other things that needed to be done.See you all tomorrow on the new thread
