lani, that's a really interesting quote. Linda, they are all a bunch of spineless cowards.

Once again Alexander is spineless. He is a disgrace to Tennessee.

Lamar Alexander is a NO...Durbin was speaking when that announcement came & he was so disappointed in Alexander. Collins say she will vote yes, tonight, but tomorrow she could get ppressured into a no...Just disappointing even tho I knew we prorbably won’t get witnesses.

I feel like the GOP people saying they might vote for witnesses are just jerking us around for the media attention.

I am just thoroughly discouraged even though we all knew that this is how it would end. He will be completely unleashed now, and can do tremendous damage between now and November. If he gets re-elected, which is a very strong possibility, then I see nothing in the future but doom. I think someone else said this on this post, but I feel like I'm watching a train wreck in slow motion. It's too horrible to look at and yet I can't look away. Alexander doesn't surprise me unfortunately, but he sure disappoints me. For just a moment I thought maybe he was going to grow a spine, but no. He's like the 8th wonder of the world. He somehow manages to walk upright when he has no spine at all. He could have easily done the right thing. He's retiring. But no, even when he says he believes it all and that the case was made he's going to suck up to Mitch and the JA. Maybe he's been promised something for his retirement. Who knows? I am just completely disgusted with him. Wrote and told him so last night. LOL! He'll never even see my message, but it made me feel better to vent it.

This kind of just says it all about the JA. A picture really is worth a 1,000 words.

Joyce, I just sent messages to Hoven & Crammer this morning...DH said they will never see your messages & I said, like you, it makes me feel better...LOL
So, now JA is threatening Iowans their farms will "go to Hell" if he doesn't get re-elected. The people behind him were laughing & cheering...They irritate me to no end more than JA can & that says a lot!

"Only thing that kept that wall from going down completely was the trees." -- luanne, LOL! Which his environmental policies are trying to destroy. He seems to have Sherman's scorched earth policy, only his is for the entire country.

@lka48 , I agree about the people behind him irritating me, too. I just am soooo disappointed in ALL the people who voted for and still proclaim to love Trump. Just don't understand it. Do any of them actually THINK and QUESTION what he says and tweets?? He's a showman, and very good at playing to the media. Is that what they want as the person to lead this country?? How many of them are actually benefiting from his tax cut and his policies?? I hate the expression "the do-nothing Democrats!" What about all the bills passed by the House that Mitch McConnell won't bring up in the Senate??? And I was so mad when I heard Eric Herschmann say "the American people are the happiest they've been in 15 years with the direction the country is going in." He claimed some recent poll showed that Trump's approval rating has hit an all time high since the hearings and trial began. REALLY??? projects.fivethirtyeight.com/trump-approval-ratings/ doesn't agree. @nashville you scare me when you say there's a very good chance that Trump could be re-elected. I know you're right but it's tooooo scary!! Nothing would make me happier than to see him lose by a landslide. On a positive note, I just want to tell you all that my husband is doing MUCH better. He had a liter of fluid drained from the sac around his heart, and has lost the 40 pounds of fluid built up due to kidney failure. He came home from the hospital last week and now we're in the phase of unending follow-up medical appointments while he gets his strength back. No kidney damage. Hopefully his heart is OK - he went into Afib but that cleared up. No one can say what caused this - there was no sign of cancer or infection and they don't think it had anything to do with his leukemia med, so he back on it and doing well. YAY!! Thank you all again for the kind thoughts back when we were in the thick of it all.

The rest of it stood up as it had already hardened. But who cares? I guess I'm just trying to stick to the facts, since so many won't.

conniefromct...So happy to hear your DH is doing ok & on the mend. I hear you about endless medical appointments. I feel that is what our entire social life is all about the older we get....LOL
Tell me, WHY John Roberts was presiding over this impeachment proceedings? If he is not going to break a tie, should one occur, the only thing he contributed to this proceeding was reading questions & not very well, IMHO. He seemed distracted at times, lost his place when the questions were divided between the 2 councils, etc. If he doesn't want to be drawn into the political aspect of this, then why is he even there?

lani, you're right. I had read that about the concrete. Just being symbolic here. A failure with the wall as symbolic of a failed presidency.
