Starting new thread here.
Back to the grind. Classes started today. My grad classes start Monday. It will be a tough semester.
Sue, my parents are going to Key West next month. My aunt and uncle go often and recommended a place. My parents went a couple years ago — said it was a neat place. That is cool that you got to see so many people you knew. I’m an extreme introvert myself, but find it nice to socialize with familiar people.

Here it is— January 2020– and it’s nearly halfway already!
Sue it was good to hear from you. It’s like you’ve developed your own cruise community— a nomadic city on water!
i had book club here last night— we read Becoming by Michelle Obama—was such a good read! Even our two conservative members said they were completely impressed by it. I served two soups and a beet/ orange quinoa arugula salad. I made a new ginger cookie recipe and the cookies were a huge hit. Had to send out recipes for soups and cookies today.
I learned the best tip from DGD15 in Sacramento when there— did you know that if you hold down the space bar you can move your finger and relocate the cursor anywhere? I have wanted to be able to do that ever since the first iPhone! It’s so helpful for editing mistakes.
gary and I went to Parasite— the Korean film that got best foreign film golden globe—wow—it’s funny at times but heavy in the punch—it’s really about the vast gap between the wealthy and the poor aNd while I cannot say it’s totally fun to watch, it’s definitely impactful and super well done.
I am flying to NYC to hep DGD19 move into an apartment on Manhattan. DD was there this week and found one for her to share with a dancer friend but they cannot move till next weekend so I will go babysit the move as she works all weekend. I will only go Friday and come back Tuesday morning for infusion number 3. Had one this Tuesday and really feel the difference and my color is better.
I loved Key West, Sue— better part of Florida! We were there for several days once—stayed in a house that was built in late 1800’s —walking around at night around the dock area was fun.

Have a fe w things to pack yet tomorrow but she is workin a double shift today—. 14 hrs— went and had dinner with her on break. The store was busy. She is lead so closes tonight. Fun to see her deal with customers— she’s good at it. Zingot cat food today for nick the cat and picked up the laundry— did a lots of steps an$ stairs typical New York day. Flew nonstop in 3 1/2 hrs— wow. Will do jet blue from now on. 5e seats are so comfortable and lots more leg room. Got up at 2:30 to nget ready and leave by 3:30 slam feeling tired even tho it’s only 6:41 my time Kass won’t get off til 11 tonight.

Hi all,
Back in the swing of things now with school and work. I am taking two grad classes and am teaching the research skills class.
Joan, is DGD still in the dance program? It just got really cold here, so it must be freezing in NYC.

Holly it was really cold and it snowed on Saturday. I wore two coats at all times and bought a better hat when I got there— two scarves too. DGD is still doing dance but not at Ailey. She is building her own training program at a number of studios, working part time, and now starting school for a BA in the arts instead of trying for a BFA just in dance. 12 credits for now and two are art classes. Some of her Ailey dance credits will count toward the degree as well.
I have been working on the wheel and am making so much progress. Last night learned how to paint my own decals to transfer to the clay so today I got up early and drew a bunch of things I’d like to use and have been painting on paper all afternoon. Birds, cats, greenery and dragon flies. Tomorrow will go in and attempt to decorate the two pots I threw this week.
weather here feels like early spring. Guess I’ll have to plant some greens and beets soon— like Sunday.
it’s looking as tho my nail fungus is responding to the medicine!

Hi! Missing you guys! I know I've not been posting much. Considering we're on vacation we've been so busy. I do try to get at least 4.2 miles on the treadmill per day. Last cruise I was doing 5.5 to 6 mi per day. I think I overdid it, really didn't make much of a difference in keeping weight off, at least for now. It's been great trip so far. We've met so many people- SO is getting much better at being sociable. We did a safari at a reserve yesterday, not a hard core safari since it is all fenced in but my first safari at all. Sounds like you're all doing well and keeping busy. Hope Jojo can find us on the new thread, lol

Well posted last week- another missing post I guess. I checked my profile and it is not there; so don’t know what I did- maybe didn’t click on the last thing to post or something. Will try to remember what I posted but might not. Joan - I was so glad you are having the iron infusions and feeling better. My DSisterIL had a terrible anaphylactic reaction to one and cannot take them. She was here last weekend. On Monday she started vomiting blood and ended up in the hospital with bleeding ulcer from meloxicam for her arthritis. So glad she did not start the vomiting on the way home to NC.
We went Saturday and had total body massages- it was my first. I will go again- my neck and shoulders have really been hurting me - arthritis I guess. The massage helped tremendously. I’d like to go two times a month. I was sore afterwards and I think once a week would be too much.
Holly - it has suddenly turned so cold here too. I really liked the warm weather we were having and miss it. A lot of rain here too. Holly- who is the BF You or someone mentioned? Best friend or Boyfriend?
Sue - your cruise sounds in full swing and lots of fun. DS and DDIL went on a safari when they were in Angola - they loved it.
Reading a book about Bible prophecy. Didn’t think it would be too interesting but my sister gave it to me for Christmas. It is sooo good - it is by David Jeremiah- he has really done his research and I can hardly put it down.
Joan saw your beautiful pottery on the FB site. You are producing some lovely pieces😮!
Holly- it May be Spring before I finish this knitted sweater that I am doing
I bought a heating pad that goes over my neck and shoulders and vibrates. I love it- has helped the discomfort I have been having. Just picture me sitting there’s in the chair all wrapped up in the heating pad and knitting!
Sue - The Walking Dead is back on in February! I can hardly wait! Love that show!!
Ok I’m going to try again to post this - hope it works!!!!!!!

Hi all,
Geez my weight has gone nuts. Weighed 129 yesterday at the doctor’s. Weird part is that when I used to weigh this much I wore pants that were two sizes bigger. My doctor said that it is likely due to the antidepressant. Anxiety burns calories, so that was what kept me so thin.
I walked home from work today and will again tomorrow. Need to get back in to doing the bike.
JoAnne, just ordered more yarn from Knit Picks. They’re having a sale. Boyfriend, we’ve been dating a year in February.
Sue, glad you are enjoying your trip!
Joan, wow DGD stays busy. That’s great that she has connections with so many studios.

Hi all—wow, my keyboard went dead and I hate typing on the screen so have avoided posting—lazy. DH went and got me a new keyboard case yesterday and I’m good to go now.
I have been at the studio every other day throwing pots, taking classes, etc., trying to get ready for the teapot class next Sunday—it’s an all day workshop.
Yesterday I got my hand built teapot and cups back from firing and I’m so very happy with them. Thinking I’ll keep them since they are a first for me.
Throwing is so much harder than handbuilding! But I like the challenge and yesterday for the first time worked with porcelain clay—oh my, like working with cream cheese! I really liked it but I’ve heard it can be a challenge.
Trying to finish my book, Between Earth and SKy as book club is Thursday. I am about 2/3 finished.
Have worked on our Italy trip so much—we now have all hotels booked, and two driving private tour days booked. We have the company we want for our full day on the water and will book it tomorrow. We leave the 21 April and get back on May 2. Dread being gone that long from gym and studio but I know it’s going to be a good trip—IF the Coronavirus isn’t worse by then. So scary.
Sue, glad you are having a good trip—and glad that SO is finding the socializing easier and easier. We really enjoyed his company when you were here.
JoAnne I go for a blood test this week so on the 25th I see the hematologist and we’ll see if the iron is working—staying in my system. I fear it may not be as I now am feeling that hit of tiredness daily again. We will see. Trying to get more iron in. went out to dinner last night and the new place had chicken livers and onions—which I love—so last night I had lots of iron in my dinner!
I’ve got to juice some celery and need to take a visual break from my iPad so better get with it. We see Sponngebob Squarepants, the musical tonight. Have my dinner in the crockpot so will be easy to have a quit no work dinner tonight before we go since we ate out with neighbors last night.
Holly do you think your BF would like to travel?

Happy Valentine’s Day, all!
Seems we don’t get much shared here these days. Everyone is so busy.
I am staying away from studio today but glazing four pots at home. Will go in tomorrow to finish the trimming on two really cute little pieces I threw on the wheel yesterday out of porcelain. They are both round boxes with lids—I have to cut the top off to make the lid tomorrow—I watched a YouTube on this process and actually tried it—if it works tomorrow when I do the finish work then in the future I will make some of these to give as gifts—would be perfect as little sugar bowls, or little ring and jewelry holders. I love throwing with the porcelain—it is easier to center and pull.
have been continuing to walk mornings—will do another walk this afternoon and go to the park where there are four flights of stairs—we are going to start doing stairs this afternoon—prep for Italy trip as in Amalfi and Sorrento it is all about climbing stairs to get to anything at all.

Blood tests show my ferritin levels way up high now—but the WBC count is still way low. I really thought I wasn’t holding iron because I’ve had that afternoon droop a few days again—and I’m cold but the numbers don’t show that. I see the hemotologist on the 25th.
We are nervous about our trip with the Coronavirus raging—so scary. If we get close and it has spread worldwide I might see if my lung dr would write up something that would enable us to withdraw and get out money back last minute. We bought travel insurance. Trouble is we have such a nice trip planned now that we all really want to go!
I am struggling with wanting to eat a lot again—wish I could wish away this drive toward food that haunts me!

Happy belated Valentine’s!
It was my first Valentine’s as part of a couple. We went out to dinner at a nice restaurant. The food was great, but the service was terrible. I think they were just unprepared for the crowd, even with reservations.
Joan, hopefully by then, the danger will be past. I hope to go back to Italy one day and explore the smaller towns. Have you read The Alice Network? It’s good so far. He wants to travel, but is afraid of flying, which means that we need to fly more. He really wants to go to Japan, but he needs to fly around the US first.
I found an easy scarf pattern that will help use up my stash. There’s a new store that provides clothing to the homeless for free, so I’ll donate them to that.

Hi everyone! Sorry I've been MIA, there's always something going on, in between the relaxing of course. We're having a great time. A couple weeks ago we did a kayak trip and saw thousands of seals, they were swimming all around us, so much fun. SO doesn't know how to swim and we've never kayaked before so I was proud of us! We are not exactly the most adventurous couple. In Cape Town we met up with a woman we met from previous cruise and she took us to wine country. We spent all day together, so beautiful there, went to art galleries, a museum, vineyards. We've also done a mini safari at a preserve in Senegal. Coming up soon will be Madagascar and the lemurs! As of now the virus is not affecting us. We are disembarking in Singapore and hopefully by then, almost a month away, things will be better.
Jojo, one of our stops was Louanda,Angola. I think your DS was there for a while? Joan, I hope you will be able to do your Italy trip, when is it? Holly, you will have so much fun traveling with you BF!
