Sue, I used to watch the Flinstones when I was a kid, so I got the Wilma reference, but had to look up Veronica. My mom used to love the Archie comics. Haha. Betty was named after Betty Crocker.
We have Labor Day off for the first time ever. They gave us Memorial Day and Labor Day but took away our day during Fall and Spring Break. I’ll probably take it off anyway. We’re always exhausted by Fall Break.
The loss of jobs has been horrible, but it has forced people to get creative. I think a lot of new job types and ideas will come out of it.

Vegas is going to have more unemployed than anywhere most likely—my DD as a therapist is getting so many completely traumatized people calling for help—fear of losing everything—soon they won’t be able to get therapy because they won’t have health care. She is feeling the fear of impending depression—economic depression I mean! So scary.
Tomorrow is to be 112º but now the cooler weather is supposed to start on Tuesday. Starting then our night should be more around 99º—that ill feel so cool. We have had so many straight days of triple digit numbers this year—it’s been unbelievable. I think there is going to be a bad wave of Covid with schools open in many places—I’m sorry—I just think it’s going to get worse and I think it’s going to be devastating.

I was so excited about the weekend ; having the in town grands over this this Friday-tomorrow. Started out great- we played croquet and kick ball and watched a movie with popcorn. BEAUTIFUL week. Then today rolled around. We ate a big breakfast and went for a walk in the neighborhood. Everyone walked around the circle once then they went in and I went around again. Almost home and a pit bull attacked me. Bit me twice behind my right knee and knocked me to the ground. My pubic bone and sacrum are fractured- as well as my acetabulum (hip). Please pray I will not have to have surgery! The orthopedic doctor will be by in the morning. They kept me in the hospital . The bite was quite deep and they stitched it. The pain is not too bad if I do not move. I may be out of commission for a while and might not post. Prayers are my best medicine right now!

Oh my God JoAnne—oh how awful! I just cringe thinking how frightening this was for you and how painful and long lasting your recovery will be! That is just horrible. I will keep you in my thoughts for positive healing energy every day. I wish I were there to help you in some way! Please keep us posted or possibly ask you son to post to here how you are doing!
My counsins daughter in Florida was attacked by a pit bull 4 years ago—they finally held the court case about a month ago and she won—the dog was finally put down—had attacked others as well—would have probably killed her had she not thrust her purse at him and he finally released her and bit at the purse—and the Walgreens clerk saw and opened the door so she could get in—-had so much damage and surgery.
But you have so much to deal with—the bite, the breaks—it breaks my heart to think how hurt you are!

OMG! Jojo that's terrible! I feel so bad for you, it's been one thing after, you just got over the shingles again. I'm thinking of you and hoping that you won't have to have surgery.

JoAnne goes to the dr today—she and I have been staying in touch via text messenger on FB—she did not have surgery but the pelvis is broken and the hip where the femur fits in—-no weight bearing at all for at least three weeks—has a walker—but the pain has to be awful—hoping that today isn’t too horrible getting there and back home!
We have been having the most beautiful weather—early mornings in the low 70’s so I have been walking at 7 instead of so early. Our air quality sucks tho from the horrible fires. I truly cannot look at the pictures without just feeling panic inside me—I feel so bad for all the people and animals.
My dr cut my BP meds in half—seems the dizziness is lessening—also put me on some kind of anti-inflammation med—says there is fluid in my ears which might be adding to the light headedness. Yesterday was a much better day that way.
We are firing another .load of pottery which should be done this afternoon. So I have mostly been glazing. Need to get started on another set of bowls today.

Hi Sue and Holly—just “chatted” with JoAnne—she is working hard at managing—made it to the check up on Monday—has PT and OT coming to the house. Her DH is working at helping—not the easiest thing for him to come by naturally it sounds like but she said they are gradually getting into a routine. She struggles with some back pain/spasms and just managing — getting to the dr was really hard. She said to say Hi!
I made three pasta bowls today—only have a large salad bowl to go on this set and then two sets are done.
Scary watching the crazy lunatics who don’t think the virus is real—Florida crazies running into Target with no masks screaming, the demonstration in Utah with people claiming they are like George Floyd—what is wrong with people? We are never going to end this if people won’t wear masks and take precautions!

Thanks, Joan for letting us know how Jojo is doing. So scary!
I'm so worried about the election. I have never done this but this time have donated individually to presidential and many other senate candidates from other states that I think have a chance of winning. It just seems this year has been terrible with disasters, and seems to be bringing out the worst in some people.
I'm still doing my stepper, I was so out of shape! But so far I'm not losing, at least the weight has stopped creeping up. Now I just have cut back on calories.

Thanks, Joan for keeping us posted. It’s going to be a tough road for sure.
I try not to think too hard about the election because it is so depressing, but I have a couple of “go to” places where I can get concise information.
I have a check up on Monday. Hoping my weight has finally stabilized. Tired of worrying about fitting into clothes.

Also donating, Sue. We are seriously talking about what to do if it goes bad. Gary was researching Portugal—supposed to be a good place for X pats. Our age and our kids are the issue.
One of my pasta bowls warped—I took it off the plaster mold too soon—before the one cracked cause I left it too long—so in order to get 4, I will have made 6! Ugh! Did the salad bowl today but didn’t notice the bad pasta bowl until I was almost cleaned up!
I walked today— thank goodness! Air quality still sucks but early it seemed a little better.
I am readin Pachinko for next book club. Anyone read it?
we leave for CA on Tuesday. Nervous about the adventure. It will take ten hrs to get there so have to use public RR—have to be upper OCS about everything! DD and family are quarantined the past two weeks—actually they are almost all the time as DD would be very high risk at her weight. So we will finally get to actually meet up with someone—no one else we know is in as strictly as we are.

I was so sad and upset last night about RBG. Really hoping Rep party doesn't push through. They are already backtracking about what they said in 2016 about new justice in election year. I agree Joan, it just keeps getting worse, the stakes higher.
I read something interesting in Politico...if Trump wants to get more conservatives who don't like him (those not voting at all or voting for Biden), he could put off nominating someone in order to get those people more motivated to vote for him. Also, senators in purple states might not want to stir things up too much before the election. I can only hope. Very encouraging seeing all those pictures of mostly mask wearing people voting early.

Will spend today getting ready to leave for Sacramento super early (5) tomorrow morning. We can pick up the trailer in Placerville by 3 pm. Hoping no roads get closed on us.
Walked this morning, am going to deadhead my flower plots now, then breakfast and then I have to figure out what I need to shop for to take. We will take food for breakfast and lunch only and will join DD and fam for dinners. They have been super quarantined for three weeks to prep for us coming—but they, like us, do almost nothing outside their home. Nervous about going and coming but we will take all precautions, lots of disinfectants, wipes, etc.
I started watching Home Edit—at DD’s urging—she has been reorganizing and even bought the book—so instead of messing with clay I spent the entire day in my closet and bathroom—wow, opened up about 7 small storage drawers and reorganized all my personal drawers in bathroom, packed up two bags and one dress bag with clothes for women’s shelter to take to them today. Went through every bit of costume jewelry—-I only have 3 relatively nice pieces of jewelry so threw away tons of old stuff, some more current things I bagged up for the donation bag. Got rid of purses—hung my 6 purses in the closet—cleaned out the large linen closet in the bathroom and I have almost a whole empty shelf! Organized all my tops by color—they were sort of that way but did the rainbow thing—also did my cardigans and dresses. Threw away my Masters degree grad gown and mortarboard and neck piece—she a lot of history! I felt as tho I had lost weight—but of course this morning reality on the scale says I’m up a couple pounds! LOL. Yesterday was such an active day but I ate badly for dinner—too much fat—immediately shows up.
DH is so excited about doing this trailer—me not so much—I’m not into living in tiny spaces—but if this works at all then we know we can visit the other kids, too. Only trouble right now is that there is nothing to rent—the RV/trailer thing is so hot.
Hoping JoAnne is gradually healing—sent her a text last night—have not heard back yet. I worry about infection with dog bites—supposed to be one of the worst for that! Dh’s birthday is the 27th. He ordered himself a new watch so I’m not doing anything.

Now I remember why I didn’t like “trailering”—I have worked so hard today and have not packed a single personal item for me yet—cooler is packed, oatmeal made for he week, bean salad to eat off of all week, little containers of condiments, some spice packets, a tub of not cold items—and oh my gosh, just realized I forgot dish towels and dishrag—ugh. I’m doing all this and realizing that on Monday I get to “undo” all of it and move back in the house again. Sorry, I’m venting—it’s just that I like being spoiled a bit on a trip and there is no spoiling for the woman on an RV deal!
I walked, deadheaded whole flower garden—fertilized some, literally filled the overflow garbage can and then started inside, grocery list and plans, four grocery stores, wiped all down with bleach, started working on the food prep—made dinner, washed clothes, now need to get cat sitting stuff and directions set up, then pack—and it’s after 8! Getting up at about 3:45 am. So I can shower and do my hair in the morning. Then help load the car. I’m ready for the safe days of jumping on a plane, staying in a motel and not doing anything but prep for the cats and pack my bag! I know, I’m spoiled!
