Just watched The Way I See It again— hope you saw it.
holly I saw that your polling place was not crowded. Oh my gosh Nevadans are voting like crazy. My friend waited three hours to vote and showed up before the polls opened! We dropped ours off at the election department a few days ago.

Hi All,
They cancelled our Fall Break which would have been this coming week. We will go virtual after Thanksgiving. It doesn’t really affect me that much. The classes I teach and take are all online. They exchanged our Fall and Spring Break day off for Labor Day and Memorial Day.
Joan, I guess that’s the good thing about living in a rural area. That is scary about Montana and not being close to a hospital. The amount of people voting early appears to be a positive sign.
Sue, he really likes coming up with new sauce ideas to cook pretty much anything, especially the fish he catches. He also likes to garden. I could see him running a farm to table restaurant.
Jo Anne, I hope your recovery is going well. Betty the cat likes to attack my knitting needles, lol.

DD’s BF’s daughter is at U of Utah—through contact tracing the school discovered she’s been exposed to a student friend who now has COVID—all the contacts are on total quarantine in their dorm rooms alone for 14 days—she’s so upset—cannot go out for food—they deliver food and of course she hates it. Wants to come home but would have to fly. She’s tested negative so thinks she is fine ==I think kids don’t get it—you can still catch it because it could be taking a while for it to show up enough to test positive.
Here cases are up double since July. I think it’s going to be much worse in the winter, just as suspected.
We ordered curb side pick up and watched as so many people waited in line for restaurant seating—NOT social distancing. Hard to understand. The voter lines are all social distanced so that’s good—and the lines are all outside!

Good morning! Vegas has had a few days of lovely “fall” weather—tomorrow it’s going to start dropping fast and by Sunday night the low is to be 46! Crazy—was 91 yesterday. I will have to cover my tomatoes and peas. Broccoli likes it cold so think they will be fine—they are growing super fast. My large pot tomato is loaded. Gave about 4 or 5 to WW BF as she loves to fry them green.
Covid cases are up everywhere. In Montana my cousin and her DH both have it—am really worried this will go badly—he is diabetic and just finished getting a clear bill of health from 2nd thyroid cancer round. She is obese and has RA, Syogen’s syndrome, fibromyalgia and just diagnosed with lupus. And they sold their house and supposed to be out by Saturday—no idea what is happening. Tried to call—no answer and voice mail is full. She is about 15 years younger than me. Also just found out my HS English teacher had it—just recovered. My good friend who had it in July is worried it’s coming back—she will be tested on Monday. Having same symptoms now. What a mess!
Had our trees trimmed for 700$—wow, they look so much better—we did one ourselves last night—just cutting out dead branches that were low enough to reach with the tree saw. It’s amazing how much better the yard looks.
I’m back to glazing bowls—we are bisque firing a load today so should have a bunch more to glaze tonight—will get those done and test tiles and then it’s build bowls like mad to get my Christmas plan moving forward again!
Making soup today and pulled pork—in the crock pot.
I couldn’t sleep last night—was awake most of the night—tried reading a while—it was just a weird night—couldn’t relax.
Hope you are all well—JoAnne I hope you are walking on your own now!
Got my =eyes checked by my new dr. Says I qualify for cataract surgery so have a consult set up of the 9th. My dr said he thinks I qualify for eyelid surgery on my left eye—it is finally enough to affect my peripheral vision on the test. Hope so! If all is true then I will correct my eyes for reading w/o glasses because I want to continue to wear glasses the majority of the time.
Holly how were the sWent potatoes? Did you bake them?

Hi all,
I hope you are all staying safe and healthy.
My mom got covid last week, but has recovered. The scary part about this virus is that it hits people in such different ways.
I have been working on projects for holiday sales coming up. I also am hoping to have a few pieces to raise money for the local animal rescue group in memory of Charlotte and others we have lost this year.
I went to the outlet mall this past weekend to return some clothes at Ann Taylor. Turns out that it closed. The whole place just looked depressing.

Wow, Holly—your mom’s case was relatively mild? Hope you don’t get it!
My cousins husband got out of the hospital tonight—have not heard how he is feeling. They have to move out this weekend in to a motel until their house is ready. She is still sick but did not need hospitalization so far. THat amazes me because neither are healthy at all. But I’m glad it’s not turning out the way I feared. I do think they are getting better at treating it—but in the mid west and north the hospitals are overflowing! Utah is warning that they will have to choose people to save soon. Age will be a factor. So scary.
DD’s BF’s daughter has Covid at U of Utah—she is isolated now the past week and a half in a facility for students who are sick—individual rooms—they bring them food. If she tests negative on Thursday she will be sent back to her dorm. Now her room mate has Covid and is isolated also.
I’ve been making bowls like crazy—made five the past two days. Also glazing lots—mostly test tiles.
It got down to 37 on Sunday night. Now is warmer—lows in 50’s.
Am planning to make butternut squash soup tomorrow—can’t wait! It’ been a while since I’ve had it—seems like a cool weather soup.

Hi!
3 more days, I'm so stressed! I double checked our ballot status and we're still fine. I'm starting to get paranoid because our state legislature is Republican and they're trying to overturn some ballot rules in court.
Holly, I'm glad your mom is fine, that must have been scary! Does she know how she contracted it?
Joan, I have heard that hair loss could happen with the virus - as a result of the stress that your body goes through, it can cause hair loss. Wow, hope Susan H is ok, thanks for letting us know.
You really know many people who had the virus! I don't know any personally, just through other people. Hopefully it stays that way. Glad your cousin and DH have gotten over it considering all their health issues! Did your friend who had the virus in July test positive for it again?
It hasn't really been 10 months that I was in a store...SO and I were in stores when we were on our cruise Jan-Mar, just hadn't been in a store in Philly since last Dec.
SO has been going through our closets and cabinets, getting rid of stuff, mostly his books (fictional novels) gave about 30 boxes to goodwill, and has at least 60 books (nice art/photography/philosophy) on ebay. I've even given some old cook books to our lobby receptionists. It feels great to get rid of things we basically haven't needed or seen in about 15 years! SO has accumulated so my stuff in his life. I'm the total opposite.
The mini stepper I'm using is working out well, lost a couple lbs but need to lose at least another 12 to be what I was after the cruise. I've been watching the Sopranos while on the stepper. Never saw it when it first aired. We just finished Neftlix's The Queen's Gambit, really good!
It is frightening how quickly the cases of virus is spiraling up, and it is not even full flue season yet. I had hoped that we could get together with my sister's family for Thanksgiving, but now I'm not sure. I have 3 nephews who would be traveling home from 3 different states, and although I know they would be careful, you just never know.

Hi All,
Happy Halloween. 🎃
She felt bad for a few days, but feels fine now. She has no idea where she got it from since she wears masks and all. That to me is the scary part.
Sue, we have been doing some major collection weeding in the library. We send a lot of our books to Better World Books and get a credit. Yes, I read that PA is one of the key states.
I have a feeling that we won’t do much family gathering for Thanksgiving or Christmas this year.

Hi everyone, I am doing so well- really feel all the prayers I have received and know God’s hand was in my healing! I even raked some in the yard !
Our yard was a mess last week. The hurricane even though a cat. 1, was much worse for us than the stronger ones. A small tree fell on our roof and caused roof and gutter damage - estimators coming today. Son and grans came Saturday to help clean up the yard.
Holly- so glad your mom is ok!
I am still having G I issues. She put me on a med that really is not helping. Guess I need to schedule a return visit.
I have been working hard on Christmas gifts. Scarfs, socks, etc. Holly I have found a yarn that I love! It is half cotton and half acrylic- called Cotton Fair. I get it at Michaels on line- haven’t seen it in the store. I get the fine- #2. It is so soft and works up great- so easy to use.
Beautiful day here today.
I have to get DGD in California’s BD sweater I made packed up and mailed. Her BD is the 21st and the way mail is lately I need to get it in the mail.
Not sure yet what our Thanksgiving plans will be - guess we will do something last minute- probably with DS and family.
Tomorrow meeting with one of my Bridge friends who wants to learn to crochet. Excited about teaching her.

Wow, so fun to read all your posts and catch up with your lives.
My cousin and her DH are not well but recovering slowly—he got out of hospital on a Thursday and they moved out on SATURday—she said he had to lie down as he was have terrible breathing issues. some relatives helped then. ONe of my former students wAs flight for life flown to Vegas from a rural community outside Vegas—she was in critical condition with Covid—is about 46. She just out of hospital today and said she is still very very sick—she was not taking the virus seriously she said but is calling for all her friends to do so now. Said she thought she was dying.
we have no thanksgiving plans—IF the weather is warm we can have dinner with DD and her BF outside. If not we will skip. Oh, DD’s BF’s daughter spent two weeks in isolation in SLC with Covid—she got out this weekend—now her roommate has it. Our neighbor’s daughter had it in April (she is 37) and is now living with them—she is so depressed she is suicidal. They are all so stressed. Seems to be related to Covid—she has so many long term, some permanent, symptoms from it. Reading today that there is a lot of research and that this is happening to those who don’t get it as badly in many cases.
JoAnne, so glad that you are doing so well—what a nightmare you had. So sorry you are still struggling with GI issues. My BF has had diarrhea for about 4 weeks now—finally got an ultrasound—is having a colonoscopy next. But they found something retalated to the liver doing the US. Hoping it is something that can be controlled by diet or some other simple solution. I know she is scared.
I created a pattern and then had DH cut a wooden piece for me to help me make butter dishes—made my first two this afternoon and I think they are so cute. I will make two more tomorrow. Will fire a bunch of things this week and then will have so much to glaze I’ll go crazy! Still have about five mugs, 4 bowls, and four butter dishes I want to make and a couple more Christmas trees. All have to be done by end of November for gift giving—have to mail the kids’.
Holly, no one else in the family caught the virus, then? That’s lucky. I’m glad your mother did okay with it.
Sue, our park ranger DS said that the governor has the Nat. Guard on alert in case the polls are harassed tomorrow. This truck driving stunt is going nuts—DS said they totally blocked traffic in SLC today. They did that in Sacramento on the weekend. These people are crazy and it’s frightening. They seem to have no moral compass.
DS in SLC said the hospitals are stretched to the max and that still there are demonstrators unmasked angry about mask mandates up there. They are talking about having to choose patients who get care in SLC now.
I had annual pulmonary check up today—dr was super pleased with the reports on the chip from my CPAP machine. So that’s good.
Have not managed my snacking well yet—ugh! What is your stepper, Sue? Is it cardio? That’s what I am really missing!

Hope everyone is staying in and staying well. Our Gov is asking people to stay home for two weeks in order to slow the spread—not officially demanding it but trying to get through to the public. So many people here are still eating out at restaurants! I have had the most out days in ages—eye dr on Monday, Foot dr on Tuesday and haircut in a few minutes! That will be it for the week.
Mixed up another batch of NY Times bread last night and it didn’t rise—realized thi morning it was too cold in the house last night—should have warmed the oven before bed and put it in there for the night! I am bummed. We are having stew tonight and we love the fresh bread with stew.
Had to pick all my tomatoes as we had two nights of frost.
glazing my butter dishes and new mugs now—can hardly wait to see the frosted lemon ones—a pretty yellow that breaks off white—hoping they look as neat as I am imagining them!
We walked in the afternoon yesterday—was beautiful in the 50’s. Will do so today as well. 36 in the morning is nippy! Didn’t get my 3 mi in tho because DH was with me and had not walked in about three weeks. Maybe will be able to push him a bit further today.
Sue, we are thinking about ordering out from Eatt, where we took you, for Thanksgiving—looks as tho we will be alone and I think it would be a nice treat. Am going to call them today and see if they are doing that. I’m so glad they are still open!
eye surgery is scheduled for late Nov and mid Dec—but now am worried that I won’t be able to see for Christmas—cause the glasses would not be ready in time for my distance sight. Ugh—calling my dr today to ask what he thinks before I go sign the final consent papers on Monday.
I just finished reading The Things We Cannot Say by Kelly Rimmer—wow, great read. Still loved Pachinko more but enjoyed this just as much in a different way—Pachinko just has so many themes well handled—this one is an excellent story and well written—just not quite as complex but I loved it. Went through a box of Kleenex the last few chapters!

Hi Everyone,
Joan, I will add those to my Goodreads list. Nobody else in the family got it. She was fortunate. Since we’re a Christian institution, we get prayer concern emails. A number of students and staff have had family members who have died or became seriously ill from it. NC tightened indoor gathering restrictions a bit this week.
I am making an effort to get some form of exercise every day with alternating days on my stationary bike. Going well so far. I like that I am within walking distance from work.
It has been close to 80 and rainy the last could of days. The humidity is just weird for this time of year.

Well, NV is climbing fast—over 2000 cases a day now. And let’s face it, we are not a highly populated state!
Have been glazing like crazy—hoping to fire a load tomorrow. .
DS in SLCity now slipped on ice and fell—protecting his arm created a worse jolt for his head—now having concussion symptoms again. And his dog Dizz, has a tumor in her bladder—not operable—will probably have to let her go—I worry about my DS—this is such overload on top of the broken wrist—his dog is his constant—it is going to be so hard on him and his SO.
we have house cleaning today—might have her not come after today and just pay her to stay away for a while again. We are going to take a drive out in the mountains in order not to be here while they clean.
I have cataract surgery scheduled for Dec 2–and Dec 15 even that makes me nervous!
Jordan is doing better on his meds for depression. That is the best news. Had him over for dinner on the patio—he was so much like the Jordan we had before!

Hi!
I had hoped that there would not be as much drama after the election but I should have known it would just get worse and worse. Unbelievable.
Joan, I got the stepper from Amazon, I wanted something like what I had before from I think it was Sharper Image (which no longer has that anymore). I think it was brand called "Sunny" from Amazon. It has elastic resistance bands for the arms and it also helps with balance. Let me know if you want more detailed info. I'm sorry your DS has another concussion! It's great that Jordan is doing better now, hope he continues to feel better.
Jojo, good to hear that you are recovering well. As usual you and Joan are super prepared for holiday gifts.
Holly, I'm glad your mother is doing well and no one else got it in your family.
The numbers here are shooting through the roof here, the worst it's been since it all started. There is no way I'm going to see my family now for Thanksgiving. I'm debating between ordering turkey dinner or making it for just the 2 of us. Just seems a lot of work for only 2 people. Or maybe do Beijing duck meal...I need to decide soon!
I've been reading a ton on the virus. Yes, it seems that those who show little in terms of symptoms can have long lasting effects, or they can get re-infected because they produce less antibodies than those who had worse symptoms. I still have not started back with my housekeeper, and probably won't until next year. I am getting better at cleaning though I still don't like it. I kind of have a schedule where I do some every day instead of spending a lot of time and doing it once a week.
We've been having some remarkably mild weather, enjoying it while it lasts.

Good morning.
So ready for a few days off over Thanksgiving. Everyone is exhausted, but we have had an extremely productive year at the library overhauling things.
Sue, yes, I have a routine where I clean every Saturday. It is just part of the weekly routine. Hopefully after COVID passes I can get someone to clean once a month again just to get a deep clean.
Jo Anne, they canceled our annual art sale, so the library group is going to try to sell our items ourselves. Proceeds go towards buying books. I am working through my stash and just ordered some more yarn since Knit Picks is having a big sale.
Joan, I’m glad Jordan is doing better. Are your grandkids all handling this ok?
