Good morning! I see a temp of 21!! That is not 21 below 0!! Yippee!
Marlene, wow, about Lone Rock! That is way too cold...gee, we are not Alaska...!! I love shopping on Amazon, but did not do any this year, so I made the load lighter, for the UPS man. With us switching DH income, I am playing it close to the vest for now, till everything shakes out. Lots of baking for you! Yum!
I stayed in yesterday from the bitter temps, so now that it warmed up, I can go finish christmas shopping.
By the way, I read a story last night about how alot of the bigger churches, especially in the Bible belt, are cancelling services this Sunday. Their thought is since Christmas is on a Sunday, people should be able to stay at home with their families. (people like church employees) What a weird way of thinking! I have not found a new church home yet, so not going to church Sunday is just killing me. But I will not give in and go to the church DH is still going to. Will never set foot in there again. I just think it is weird about all these "megachurches" not doing a service on Sunday.
Karen, thanks for being here every morning when I stop by to have my second cup of coffee:)
Today we're going to Kohl's to spend the $20.00 certificate they sent me. In addition I have a 30% off coupon. They know how to get-cha. I don't usually fall for it, but will look for a watch. My current one was a super cheapie from WM. I seem to be allergic to it so need to move up into a higher priced bracket! DH wants to look at long sleeve knit shirts too. That may be hard to find this close to Christmas - things may be picked over. Doesn't seem like Christmas is so close, but I haven't been out amongst the shoppers. I've only gone for groceries.
Karen, I agree about no church services on Christmas. Does that say something about the direction our nation is going? Certainly doesn't have the same thoughts of when I was growing up. Our priorities are out of order. Wonder if those same decision making church leaders stopped celebrating their family birthdays too. We may not go on Christmas Day, instead we go on Christmas Eve. In our earlier married years we always went to the midnight service - same at Eastertime. Now we can't stay awake that late!!
I found my rolling pin & got the cookies baked. They rolled out fine so I guess my mind played tricks on me on how the dough was to look. It went quicker than I thought it would too. The oven worked marvelous - now to get use to these high temperature burners.
Yesterday afternoon I decided maybe I should grocery shop & reduce how much running I'd have to do today. Stopped at Aldi's first to get our hams for Christmas & a few other things. I bought two hams cause I get the butt or shoulder cut, with the bone in, so I can make split pea soup afterwards. It is hard to tell how much is meat & how much is fat & there will be 7 of us, so I want enough. The young men like their ham & I have ran short in the past. Then on for a few things at WM. The two stores are only a couple blocks apart - Aldi's on the way to WM - so very convenient to stop at both.
DH got an email from Amazon that DS's present will be delivered Thursday. That was good news.
I will make lasagna for supper today. There's always leftovers so that will make meal planning for a couple days quick & simple. I want to make PB cookies too & the fudge. Didn't see my usual fudge pan when I rummaged through our boxes of cooking utensils, so will look for a new pan today. Tomorrow may be the day to decorate the cut out cookies. DH will help with them:)
Hope Phyl stops in today. It's a busy time of year for most. Sixteen years of being gone from family means they aren't dependent on us for everything anymore. That's fine with us. I'm getting too old to do what I use too & really don't want to either.
Have a good day. Enjoy the warm up. DH saw someplace where it's to be 41 Christmas Day & rain!
just taking a break. been moving stuff around in the family/sewing area room(basement) to put up the Christmas tree.
I have to much stuff. I am stuffing it In places. I am thinking next year not doing so many quilt shop hoppings like we did this year.
I did have fun with Nita.
I have so many Christmas projects to do. maybe that will be my goal to work on those next year and in between stuff.
I did type along post last night. lost it and then thought I am not typing that again.
so if the churches are not having services Sunday why don't they have a special Christmas eve service? wonder what there answer will be when they stand before god.
we will go to Christmas eve mass. that will be at 9. I think the cathedral is the only catholic church here that does midnight. I could be wrong. the rest are all earlier. that way kids aren't to tried for Christmas eve celebrations.
don has decided to wash up the cars because it is so nice today,.34. they are saying snow for tomorrow.
Think I need a nap Been awake since 4. I also want to start on wrapping gifts tonight. we will see. enjoy your afternoon. phyl
ALL we can do is pray people In this country find their way back to god.
personal challenge is: get to the y more often. like 4-5 days a week.
