Good morning all! Ruth, well you got one hat done, and I am sure will finish the other hat for your DGD soon. Too bad that you were not able to watch either of the football games, if you are a football fan its a bit sad to think that the season is almost over. Either you or Phyl will have to educate me on what Culver’s is....hope that they are a good employer for your DGD!
Someone must have been praying for me, as so far, this prep for todays procedure went reasonably well. I was able to get a reasonable amount of sleep and do not feel like a zombie. I saw a good amount of the first football game, and next to none of the second. Chose to watch a hallmark channel movie that I had DVR’d. Think this will be a quiet morning for me, and I do hope to perhaps get some work done on my pillowcase.
These weeks sure do seem to fly! Hope everyone gets some crafting time in. Ginny

Culvers is a fast food place and I think, but don't know for sure, that they're noted for their icecream. The have a huge menu
Ginny, I'm glad you were able to get a good sleep. I remember all the preps with the old stuff and I never was able to sleep thru the night or even close. Just one of the problems was that you had to take a repeat dose of the med at 4am.
Why is it that when I want to make a specific item that I can't find in my huge stash, the yarn or colors that I want to use? Rhetorical question of course. I guess I'm just not very creative color wise.
Let us know how things went when you are able.

Hello Crafters Ginny - Hope the procedure went well without any problems. Ruth - I have the same problem looking for a specific color (fabric), and then I end up going out and buying it, which just adds to my already large stash It was sunny here today, but cold, in the 30s I think. I'm glad I didn't have to go anywhere. I will have to go out this week a few days for some shopping and a dental appointment. I got some embroidery done last evening and hopefully will get more done this evening while a few TV shows are on. I find that I rarely just sit and watch the TV, I'm always doing something else at the same time. Some of that is that I have a multi-tasker personality and I think the rest is that the shows just really aren't that interesting. Take care everyone!

Back home from a busy day.....and for the most part all went well. I have a follow up appointment with the doctor in 8 weeks to discuss my medications and just make sure that everything is ok. It all ran a little bit late, but everything is ok. I did get get some work done on a pillowcase in the waiting room. Thanks for all your good wishes. Ginny

EVENING CRAFTERS,
yep the packer game was kinda boring for us packer fans.they did not score till the second half. by then the 49e's were 20 points or more ahead.they were trying play some thing different only watched one 49'rs game, I don 't kn ow much about football but if you are playing a tough team shouldn't you watch more games to see how they play???
So Superbowl Sunday I will root for the chiefs.any team that took 50 years to get to the bowl deserves a cheering section.(sorry me California friends)
just for the record I am not a die hard football fan.it is a game.one team wins one teams loses.
not a good sewing day. turned my brother on and one seam sewed.after that it would not work. has something to do with the foot pedal.
Don says there is not any power going to the f.p. cord. my dealer won't be back till Monday.
then my shark iron quit.not the outlet because my mini olsio works in it.this is the second shark iron that I have had. they each lasted about 2 years or a little more
then I goofed up about 3 paper piecing sheets before I got on my HEAD AGAIN.
hope sew day goes better tomorrow if I go.phyl

Oh my! Phyl, you seem as though yesterday was doomed for you. I wonder if there is an online blog from Brother regarding the foot pedal- some sort of troubleshooting guide. It sure sounds as though Don is right and you will need to speak to a Brother rep. So very sorry about that- perhaps today will be better! And back when I was on the paper piecing block for my BOM I messed up 3 times on the same block, having to start over a bunch of times. For me,what a waste of paper, time and fabric.....of course I finally stepped away from it, re read the directions a million times and step by step finished the block. Had to do one step at a time then re read the directions before doing the next so I would not mess up again. Anyway, hoping today is a better day for you and that if you do attempt to go to sew day that its productive.
Slept pretty well.....got DGD coming here in a little bit and hopefully she will want to go to storytime. BBL Ginny

good morning,
Nita did tell me to make a block each time and it would sink in she was right. one of the quilters does pp like an assembly line. maybe someday if I get good at it.
my brother is still locked up.I do have the right foot pedal.checked my model number.tried to go online for support. they want a dollar to help.then get it back.the hell with that noise.
I DON'T HAVE ANYTHING THAT HAS TO BE DONE ASAP. I might not go to sew day. don't know what to take.everything I have ready for now is
we have tables where we sit across from each other. some quilters do bring big stuff.
sometimes Nita brings to much and it pushes my work away.that has not happened for awhile.
well DON my mr. fixed it guy,got into looking at my iron .needs a new plug.
the part that plugs into the wall.I don't pull it out by the cord. I USE THE PLUG PART. that outlet has always been hard for met to plug the iron in.d one even changed it once.
this am I WATCH tv sales promotion. the cordless iron. you have a base that you plug in the wall..then iron with no cord.mmmmmm!
yes Culver's is Fast food place. you can have a choice of 3-4 dinners also beside hamburgers, chicken.rubeun ,pattie melts etc. their ice cream is more like a custard. good.white building with a blue roof.phyl
mr.fix it got my ironworking . yea

Gotta love Don for persevering and getting that iron back to working order! For all the abuse that the plug (and cord just near it) and where the cord goes into the iron takes, they should be made extra strong to take some punishment. The concept of a cordless iron sounds wonderful, then no burned fabrics too!!! Guess its worth checking out for next time the iron fails. So sorry you have had no luck with your Brother foot pedal working. They have some nerve expecting to charge for online support. I am sure you paid good money for the machine and with a product key (or some other proof of purchase ) should get free troubleshooting from them.
Babysitting today so no chance to quilt or embroider. BBL to see who else checks in Ginny

CJ- you sound just like me, and are always crafting while watching TV. Speaking of that, Dh and I are taking the plunge, and I rented season one of Poldark from the library today. I know its something that both you and Meg enjoy. Hard to believe its already in season 6 according to the librarian

Hello Crafters Ginny - I'm glad to hear that everything went well with your appointment and hopefully will at the follow-up. If you like British shows I think you and your DH will like Poldark. I enjoyed the whole series, even though there are a few storylines I didn't care for. The scenery is beautiful and some of the costumes too. Phyl - It does sound like you had a cursed day the other day I'm glad your husband got your iron working and hope that you can get your sewing machine fixed too. I never could get the hand of paper piecing even though I love the look of it. Ruth, Meg and Sue - Hope you are all getting some crafting in. It is sunny and cold here today. I went out earlier to run some errands and stopped at JoAnns and bought more embroidery floss. I didn't realize how much it would take for these stamped embroidery pieces. I bought all they had of the red floss so hopefully that will be enough. I also found a few pieces of fabrics - one was a red that I had used in several small quilt tops back in December and I really liked the fabric. I was glad to see they had it at JoAnns and that I bought it there. I got all that was on the bolt - 3 yards. I also found the pillow forms I need to finish those pillows I was making from my father's shirts. I'd like to get them done this week so I can mail them to my siblings that live away and give the other ones to the sibling and his wife who live close by. The two of them helped me the most with my father. I couldn't have taken care of him those last several years without them so I hope they will like to have a shirt pillow as a keepsake. Take care everyone!

Good evening everyone. I'm glad to see those who are here and thinking of those that aren't.
It's been a nice day so far. It was fairly warm here and sounds like it was warmer than where the rest of you were except for maybe Meg. It still was pretty cool in my house though so I still haven't got to the table runners and am now thinking that I might put that off until I get back from my trip. I'm still undecided though so one of these mornings I might just sit down and make a couple. I didn't have the graph for the hat for dgd upstairs this morning so instead I made a case for my cell phone. Now I'm back down in the winter quarters and will get to that hat. Of course I hope to finished it this evening but who knows.
CJ, I think it was a great idea to get rid of the small pieced of fabric and it does sound like you're made a great purchase and replaced all the small pieces with a really nice 3 yard piece of the red you like and can use.
Phyl, I'm not a diehard fan of football either. I think with these two this past Sunday I've probably watched 4 the whole season. I'm also for the Chiefs. I'm glad you got your iron working. My father was an electrician and the only thing I learned from him was how to replace plugs on cords. I could also change out a wall socket so I guess two things.
Ginny, so you had the delightful dgd today. Did she end up going to story time? I had a weird dream last night. You had sent me a headband that had a pocket for a handwarmer but when it arrived it had your cell phone in that pocket.

GOOD EVENING, Ruth that was some kind of dream. Every so often this week I had dream someone left me her featherweight machine to me..Fat chance.
the only one would be possibility Nita.dream on kid. I know her dd Chris will get everything.dd Kay does not sew at all.I would not want anything to happen to Nita.
Teresa and Jim just called ,we had a 4 way conversation. we all agreed due to the weather we will say home and not go to Mona's memorial service..
it is going to be a rainy snowy winter mix this weekend.not just here.
even their kids are telling them to stay put.
she died December 26th.Mona's son Tom kept saying if you can't make it you can't make it.not to worry about it.Tom and Kathie will be heading back to Georgia when it is over, the other son and family and daughter live in the D.C area. russ has a dd and dsil a few blocks from him.so he will be ok.phyl

PHyl, it would be nice if someone gave you a featherweight machine but because they got a newer one not because they died.
Aside from the nice dreams like the one I had of Ginny sending me a headband except it wouldn't be nice if she had accidentally sent her cell phone. Plus I sure don't need headbands. I've made a LOT of them in the past year but never use them myself. I guess if I ever get back to walking outdoors I might use one. Anyway, back to aside that dream...I have some really weird and horrible dreams and besides those I still, after having been retired for 16 years, dream that I'm at work. Sometimes I dream that I'm back in college and it's time for the final and I realized I never went to the class the entire semester.
Today wasn't all that productive for me. I did get that cellphone holder done except for sewing on the button. Then I started on the graph hat but first I tried to make the graph so that the letters were thicker but that didn't work well. Then I realized I didn't leave a space between the letters so did it over to do that. Third was that I didn't make the A correctly. Each time I found the errors after I had crocheted a couple rows. so I decided to wait till tomorrow to work on it....after taking it out (frogged) for the final time today. I'm ready to do it now and I hope the letters will work ok. I'd love to have those thicker letters but I have to think about that some more. I do have a plan but I'll make this hat first then experiment. I still have to get started on the Cross afgan. Problem is I keep seeing more things I want to do and get off track.
I hope you are all happily in dreamland by now. I'm about to go there myself.

Good morning!
I thought about responding last night, and instead ended up watching a movie.- so I was purely lazy.
CJ- its so great that you were able to pick up more of that red fabric that you liked so much. (Don’t you love that about Joanns is that lots of times you can find the same fabric again!). So you cleaned them out of red DMC floss eh? Guess your stamped embroidery project sure uses a lot of red floss. Is that the only color you need to finish the project? Think that your siblings will really love and cherish the pillows you are making from your Dad’s shirts. Those kind of crafts are just a warm and loving reminder of a special family member who is no longer here to cherish. Good to hear that you are back in your crafting ways!!!
Ruth, no I did not send my cell phone to you by accident- ha ha ha....but I think its pretty funny that in your dream you thought I could actually make one of your beautiful headbands! As talentless as I am and as talented as you are with a crochet hook, I do not think I would ever send you something I crochetted. Funny you have that dream about working or being at college. It took me YEARS to get over the nightmare of a final being the next day or a huge project needed to be done and I was nowhere near prepared. From what I hear many have similar nightmares....guess when you are in science based education programs (which are so overwhelming in their rigor) that college can seem like a nightmare. I do remember being envious of some majors who seemed to always have time to party or just lounge around. I do love how you are able to work through your projects and actually find the mistakes and correct them. Takes a good organized mind and a lot of perseverance. With winter starting to draw to a close- well not really but we are in mid winter now- perhaps a switch to the cross afghan is a good idea. As you have worked on smaller projects recently, having one larger project might be a pleasant change.
Phyl-of course you do not want anything to happen to Nita!!! If you really wanted a featherweight, I would think you could find one on a site like ebay....SInger sure made enough of them! I do not use mine, but hope to get it out when i move my sewing area upstairs someday. I totally agree that with bad weather on the way its best to stay home. Russ will have the comfort of those nearby this weekend to commemorate Mona. Perhaps you and Don can go visit him when the weather is better- which might be a greater comfort to him anyway. I have read that its important to support the bereaved all throughout the year after the loss of a loved one....Its a shame that you will miss seeing the other family members who do not live all that close by. Safe travels for all as they come up for the ceremony and return home.
Do yes DGD did make it to storytime. DSIL was still here (he drops her off with us to babysit) and I wondered how she would handle saying goodbye to Daddy to go. I did get my coat and shoes on and then asked her if she wanted to go to storytime. I got a loud “yes”! And then she grabbed my hand to head to the front door. This time she stayed the entire time (we left a few minutes early last week because she was feeling a bit shy). And we sang songs from storytime all the way home (a big 5 minute drive). DSIL will be taking her next week as we are switching babysitting days next week to help out DD’s MIL, who normally sits for the kids on Wednesday and Friday. Got a little bit of embroidery done last night, and then noticed I seem to be out of black DMC. Will have to go downstairs to my messy craft area and hope I can find some black. I probably have some and if I do not will find another color to work. THese pillowcases are for me anyway so it does not matter all that much.
Miss hearing from Meg and Sue....
Have a great day all Ginny
