Welcome! We are a group of like-minded people that gather to discuss a host of topics from weight loss, to current events. Our thread celebrates liberal diversity, welcomes new friends, and respects all opinions. We count everything from calories to points but, we never count our chickens before they are hatched.

Tucker Carlson says Democrats are defeated and humiliated. True, we lost this fight but then we never expected to win. It was a matter of principle, so I feel neither defeated or humiliated. I just want to win in November, and I'm afraid that none of our current top candidates can pull that off. As much as I'd like to see Biden rub the JA's nose in it, I no longer think Biden is our best path to victory. I don't think either Bernie or Elizabeth can pull it off either. My favorite candidate as of now is Amy, and I do think she might be able to beat tRump but I don't think she can pull off the nomination because I think the primaries will be too polarized between the far left and the moderates, and Amy doesn't have the backing or the name recognition to pull it off (I don't think). So while I am very much afraid that tRump will get another term, I am absolutely not ready to throw in the towel. I wish that Steyer and Bloomberg would put their money behind a candidate who can actually win. The whole key is which states we can win because of the Electoral College. That's a whole different issue. IMHO we need to get rid of the Electoral College, but it works in Republicans favor so as long as they are in control of the Senate there is no hope of that ever happening. Do any of you think the Electoral College is a good thing?

I feel disgusted and dismayed. I never thought the GOP Senate would vote to remove Trump, but I thought they would at least vote for a fair trial.
And on another note, Happy Birthday to my dh.

I saw some discussion about Democratic voters willingness to switch their vote to a nominee if the person was not their first choice. I doing this from memory only, but I believe the stats were 90% of supporters of every candidate were willing to switch, except for the Berners, only 50%. Please, not again.

lani, that scares me that the Bernie supporters are once again going to dig in their heels. I hope they learned a lesson from the last time, but I'm afraid it's going to be the same old story.

People are posting on the January thread and messing with my mind . I thought my post had vanished until I looked at the date! I actually rewrote the whole dang thing and then realized what was up before I posted twice. Folks may be replying to topics on the old thread, I realize.

Now he knows he can do anything he wants to do with impunity. He can and he will. Can you believe this is the best America can do? Do you feel like you're having a bad dream? Do you honestly believe the elections are fair? Can you believe so many people think this guy is a good thing for America? What do they see that we don't? Or, do you think they have no idea what's really going on and don't even really care? They will vote Republican because they always did, their parents and grand parents always did. It's a tradition. It's just the way it is and they will teach their children and grand children to do the same. Without even thinking about the life their grandchildren or children will have. Or, not have.

Jared Kushner also said, that Bolton, Kelly, Mattis & one more that I can't remember, didn't have what it takes to be in the Trump Administration.....
LOL...Ya, never mind their years of experience, they didn't have an Ivanka or a con man for a FIL....LOL This snot nosed kid is a piece of work, but I guess if Daddy In Law thinks his SIL can bring peace to the Middle Ease, we just have nothing to worry about. This whole family is just delusional....

Isn't it exciting to think that if we can just beat this JA in November that means we get rid not only of him but of Jared, Ivanka, Don Jr and Eric too?! Oh my gosh, we'd have to throw the party to end all parties. That alone should be enough to get the masses out in droves to vote him out. At least that's the way it works in my dreams. Who do you think is going to win Iowa? The news makes it sound close.

Why the heck can't Hillary, Talib, and the rest just shut up and stop running down other Democrats? If there was ever a time when the party needs to be united it is NOW. Hate or love Hillary, hate or love Bernie I don't care. Just don't criticize one or the other. Hillary is yesterday's news. Let's move on. We have got to unite or else we are doomed. (Rant over for now anyway)

I just watched the entire Kushner interview on Fareed Zakaria. (sp?). While I disagree with everything he said, he is an able defender of you-know-who, which is scary. Someone on the GDT said he looks like Tom Riddle. Phooey, the actor who portrayed TR was MUCH better looking. JK looks like a cyborg.
