This is a monthly thread for those of us who have a lot of weight to lose. The definition of “a lot” is something that is determined personally, so everyone who feels they have a lot of weight to lose is welcome to post here.
Please join us in offering support, checking in for accountability, help with questions, etc. We’re in this for the long haul.
We’d also love to hear from those of you who are maintaining a large loss. We need those tips to help us to keep the weight off once we lose it

Hello Everyone - Hoping that we all have a good February amrys - Hope you are feeling better today and wishing you the best on getting back on track. I'm hoping to have a better month than the last few have been. I have most of the junk food out of the house. I'm doing pretty well with the 100 Day Challenge and I just need to work harder on eating more healthy foods and also keeping up with exercise. I appreciate all the support on this thread

Happy February. Well JD's car is acting up - again. Found him a used one that's 8 years newer than his for under $10,000 -he's at the dealership with Ron looking at it now. Fingers crossed. It's stupid to keep throwing $$ at a 15 year old car. Same issues, 2 different mechanic shops and they still can't figure it out over 4 years of different repairs. It's been a great car for him, but it's time for a newer one. Ron will co-sign for him to get a better interest rate, and we know he's "good for it" (and the payments will be low enough for us to help if he needs it). We had a long talk with him last night about his future and the fact that the place he works at is not a long-term solution - too little pay, none of the 2 raises he should have had by now were ever paid( he brought it up with the owner last JULY and the owner gave him some excuse). Anyway, he's going to start looking for something more local and with better pay. He hates change, it stresses him out, but he needs to do this. Parenting is hard sometimes lol -but we've been really lucky he's such a great guy.

Well he got the Hyundai Accent. It's a 2013 model in excellent condition, and his Taurus was a 2005, so it's still an older car but a lot newer than his Taurus lol. He's happy with it. It's smaller, but it seems to run well and it's quiet (inside the car when driving, no loud road noises) and it has a nice sound system. It's this odd color called marathon blue and it's got a purple undertone, depending on how the light hits it. He got screwed on financing (I should have gone...) but it's already done so not much to do about that. I had gotten him pre-approved at 4.3% though capital one, but that was with me or Ron co-signing, he wanted to do it on his own, so it was 10%. Of course neither of them listen to me.. so whatever lol.

DotRen - I'm glad your DS was able to get a newer car, and hopefully it will be reliable and not need many repairs. Several members of my family have had Hyundai vehicles and they really like them. That's terrible on the interest rate though. Maybe he can the loan refinanced in a year or so? amyrs - Glad you're feeling better, hope the new food plan works for you. Hope everyone else checking in is doing well

I didn't know that some cars don't have spare tires anymore, they have this sealant drum stuff instead. I ordered him a spare tire instead. I mean, the sealant is fine (fix-a-flat has been around a long time) if it's a simple leak or puncture, but if it blows out or separates from the rim, you have no back up. He drove around yesterday a bit and got more of a feel for it, and he got a hair cut! It was getting shoulder length on him and I was teasing that he needed to make a man-bun He has to go to the dealership this morning- or one morning before work this week -and have a couple of spares (unchipped) and a chipped spare made since they only gave him 1 key. Ron and I are doing good. Ron's happy with WW even though he doesn't know he's on it I used my weeklies this weekend, but all good. My loss for January was about 6.5 pounds, 17.8 since I started in November, so I'm happy with that. I still have to watch carbs though. I can tell if I've had too much gluten because I get a stuffy nose and a headache. I can have some, but I can't have a sandwich every day for several days in a row and things like that. Hope you all are well

DotRen - I had the same issue when I bought a new car last year (my first new car in 15 years), there was no spare tire, just the kit. So I ordered the spare tire right away and then went back and had it installed later. I've had too many flat tires in my driving life, not to have a spare in the trunk You are a smart Mom to get that for him I hope he'll enjoy the new car and also get things sorted out with a new job closer to home. Good for you on your weight loss since November, that's great. It sounds like you've found a style of eating that works for you. I've had a few revelations about my eating recently. I really knew most of them anyway but at least they are causing me to think more about what is the best way for me to eat, and the best foods. My biggest problem is that I lock myself into "eating rules" and most of them really don't make any sense and they aren't really helping me anyway. So I need to find a better way to eat and hopefully then I can lose some weight. Hope everyone checking in is doing and that you all have a great week

I tried the "metamucil challenge" for a few days and my lower legs were so swollen I had to take a water pill. Not sure what caused it other than the metamucil. I did have a can of progresso light soup, it might have been just sodium overload. I don't mind the sugar free orange metamucil, it actually tastes like pulpy orange juice lol. Anyway, all's well here. JD's loving his new car, he also ended up ordering a new phone, but not a $1000 one, a fairly inexpensive one like Ron and I got in January. A galaxy A20. At least he was smart about it for a change. I remember when cell phones were either free or under $100. I feel old lol. sunrose49, welcome back cj59, I think we all have a day here and there were we get off track - getting back on is the victory amyrs, nice!

Good morning
cj, I've been terrible about the 100 day challenge. At least you are keeping up pretty well.
Amy, enjoy your WW meeting.
dotren, I know--crazy about the cell phones costing so much now.
Waving to all.

Hello Everyone - Hope you are all enjoying your weekend amrys - Congratulations on the continued weight loss. Hope your WI at your meeting goes well. DotRen - I'm glad you son is enjoying the "new" car and that he found a phone that is reasonable. It's ridiculous how much some of them cost. sunrose - Just keep trying on the 100 Day Challenge, I know you can have more good days. Sometimes that's the only thing that makes me eat a fruit or vegetable serving each day
