Hey Phiyl! Hope you got your email situation straightened out with Missouri star. Which jellyroll is it that you were interested in from them? Of course I love to look at different fabrics and patterns. And it sounds like you and Delona had a really nice day yesterday. You know what I say about housework, it’s very patient it always waits for you. When you get there, you get there.
Sue I don’t blame you for not wanting to go to quilting. If you’ve had that much snow and the roads are that bad stay home and stay safe. Are you seeing any migrational changes in the birds? We are here in New York. I’m sure you must be seeing some differences and the birds outside too. Hard to believe that spring is coming not too far from now.
CJ, let me know how you like those needle threaders! I have a feeling I might be in trouble when I start on the cross stitch kit in a couple of weeks. Do you know if it’s a specific brand and it works really well I’d be curious to hear about it. Glad that your house has fared well through the changes in weather in the past week. It sure does not seem like February does it?
I think I picked out some yarn yesterday for the baby afghan I have to make. I think I’m going to order it from Joanne’s to make sure that I can get the color that I want it’s a very subtle variegated so it will look a little bit different than the Afghan that I already made from that pattern for my granddaughter.
Last night I finished the set on point corner squares for the block of the month quilt. Now just have to add the final border.

Phyl, yes the housework will wait. It's sure good at waiting for me and that's where I've been all day. Working and cooking. The quilt you're planning to make sounds great and I'll go to the site when I'm done here.
Ginny, I liked the idea of teal and from what I see on the crochet groups postings there don't seem to be gender specific colors anymore. I think the variegated will be great though too. Did you get pol or another yarn. Micheal's recently had a good sale on POL so that's where I got the yarn for the afgan and I also got teal and yellow.
CJ, I'm not sure if I like rain or snow better but anything would beat wind. Sounds like you're back to crafting after taking that one day off.
It's snowing here again today but no wind yet.DH said he was outside this morning and our driveway didnt look bad. I told him it was because the neighbor came over and plowed. Dh said he thought the wind had blown it away. It sometimes does but not this time.I always feel as though I want to give him and his wife some kind of thank you gift but I don't know what to give them.He's always helping us with things.

Been snooping online and I think I am going to get Baby Bee soft and sleek yarn from Hobby lobby. www.hobbylobby.com/Yarn-Needle-Art/Yarn/Grasshopper-Baby-Bee-Soft-&-Sleek-Baby-Yarn/p/80843277. This might be the color I use- and again I then do not have to be concerned with gender. Overall the yarn is well liked, but there are some who are not thrilled with it. I found another yarn I liked but its a 3 weight yarn and POL is 4. This baby bee soft yarn is also a 4, so it should be ok. Its on sale now-perhaps I ought to order it and be done with it. Ruth, how sweet of your neighbor to take care of your driveway! Is there a local diner or eatery that is well liked, perhaps you could give him a gift certificate to thank him for his kindness.Did you get much snow? Had DGS and DGD again for a little bit- Dd had to attend a school board meeting. Gave them baths and blowed bubbles in the tub. Such funny little kids. THe closest I got to crafting was I got out the strips I had cut for the final border for the quilt. Will Iron them tomorrow and start attaching them. G |

GOOD MORNING, I called MSQC last night and they were closed.had a very nice email this am asking how could I be helped.
told the girl what I wanted and walla I ordered it at the same price as yesterday.
also ordered the daily double book of today's deal.should be able to use my scraps for for different baby quilts.
today will be wi and chiropractor this afternoon.phyl

Ginny, I have some of that yarn but I haven't used it yet so can't vouch for how soft it is. #3 yarn would work but you would have to add stitches to the starting chain to get the same size and it might come out thicker and stiffer so probably not a good idea for a baby blanket unless you use a larger hook than suggested in the pattern or on the yarn label.Best thing would be to do a swatch and see how you like it. The yarn you picked is very pretty and will make a great baby blanket.
We didn't get all that much snow and the wind hasn't started yet so we'll see what happens.
Phyl, yes you picked very nice colors!

If you picked the Night Riveria jelly roll those colors would look great in that quilt. Thanks for the info on the needle threaders, I see that Connecting Threads have several to choose from. Hope your appointment goes well today. Thanks for mentioning the email problem from MSQC, I was wondering why I wasn't getting their emails. I thought they dumped me since I haven't ordered from them for awhile  Ginny - I think that yarn would make a lovely gender neutral blanket. I love the idea of a teal one too, it's such a pretty color. Those grandchildren bubble baths sound fun Ruth - I'm glad your driveway was cleared, you have nice neighbors. I always go with a gift card these days, since it's tough to know what to get for people. Maybe one for a local restaurant like Ginny suggested. Meg and Sue - Hope you are getting some crafting in. It also works great for one or two strands of floss, but I tried 3 strands of embroidery floss and it didn't work. We had some heavy rain here this morning and then now it's sunny and windy. I haven't been doing much, but hope to get back to some crafting and hopefully finish a few of these projects this month. This morning I had an appointment at the bank to consolidate my sister's accounts. It was not very complicated but still took over an hour. I was up early. hb rolled over and fell out of bed, hitting his forehead on the very sharp corner of the night stand. Yesterday was his birthday. Colorful bruise and bump. I'm keeping a close watch for any changes in speech or behavior.
No changes in birds yet. As I was getting out of the car when I got home, I could hear some chickadees somewhere nearby. There are lots of magpies and ravens year round. Usually in the early morning, there are about 100+ bird on the electric wire in one particular location. They're probably starlings. Not my favorites. I haven't seen the Bohemian waxwings for several days. We'll probably start seeing robins in another 5-6 weeks.
The roads were icy this morning. Another several inches of snow fell last night.

CJ, I saw a hint the other day which they said was for getting yarn thru the eye of an embroidery needle but I would still think that it would need a needle with a larger eye than most embroidery needles. The said to fold over a piece of paper that will fit thru your needle's eye, put the yarn or thread in it then push the corner of the paper thru the the rest including the yarn, floss, etc. I also saw hints where you put your floss or yarn into a loop of dental floss, put the open ends of the floss thru the needle eye (since it's stiff it will go thru easily) and grap those two ends and pull the dental floss the rest of the way thru which will then pull the floss or yarn thru. I've used the dental floss method but only with yarn. Works great.

Phyl- Gee, MSQ sounds like a great company to do business with! (I have only bought from them twice). Bet it feels good that they worked out all your purchases so that you got what you wanted and got the sale also. How did your doctor appointments go?
Ruth, I appreciate the advice on the yarn. Now I have to get out the pattern (I know where it is) to make sure I purchase the right amount of yarn. I go back and forth regarding the color for the baby afghan. But the yarn sounds nice. Great ideas for needle threaders....I have heard of the dental floss idea- thanks for sharing. Hopefully you did not get any snow and the wind stayed down.
Sue, glad you are keeping a watch on your husband- hope that he did not sustain any injury other than a minor bump. Is there some way to move or pad the night stand so he does not injure himself again? Yeah, the birds come and go when its time and not a moment before. My Dh noticed that the gold finches are starting to change color already. It seems early to me, but whatever. And I know from settling my mom’s estate that everything that should have taken 10 minutes took 2 hours. Guess its just to make sure that all is being done in an honest manner, but its so frustrating. Bet you cannot wait for this to be over and the estate fully settled. Hope that that is soon for you.

So I am back after watching 2 episodes of season 2 Poldark with Dh. So many plot twists....wow.
CJ- that needle threader sure looks great. Perhaps I will invest in one someday- although I have some of those Dritz threaders left to me by my mom. I can see how threading 3 strands of DMC is a challenge, and having some help sure would be nice. Hobby Lobby has a crewel needle with a larger eye- perhaps that will work for you. I am sure between the 3 big stores- Joanns, HL and Michaels someone has a needle that will work for you.
Declared war on the quilt this am- but I also tried to get some housework done and some laundry. So the 4 star on point corners are done and pinned into place (with their borders). I must say I will need to repin 3 of them, as I was not being super careful and just wanted to see how it will all fit. But, if it all goes well, I can have the quilt top completed by the end of this weekend. Then I get to press everything to death and figure out who will long arm the oversized queen quilt. Just from handling it today and getting the corners and border on its a handful and my small work space machine will be challenged to do the final quilting. My cross stitch kit from Joanns will be here Monday. Now I better go find the baby afghan instructions so I can remember how much yarn to buy/order.

Today as we were sitting in our dining room where the floor to ceiling window that faces the mountain I saw one antelope walking down the street. They rarely are alone..always in a group. He kept stopping every few steps and looking around as if trying to find the rest of the herd. I was just thinking yesterday and was reminded today by him that the number of these pronghorn antelope that we get to see keeps getting smaller and smaller. I'm not sure about birds. I still see big flocks of one kind of bird. I have no idea of what they are but there sure are a lot of them. My dh's friend (who is now deceased) used to say that when he started seeing them it was a sign that hunting season was nearly here.

Ruth that must be a magnificent sight you have of the mountains! A million dollar view for sure. Wherever the other antelopes were, Hope they were reunited. Sometimes it’s hard to tell what a massive flock of
Birds is. When we walk at the lake frequently there are large groups of birds and you need a decent set of binoculars or To be close enough to hear their call.
Phyl, Thanks for the heads up on the floss threaders! I was thinking about that last night and wondering if they were fine enough to make it through the eye of a needle. I have some here, and Lord knows the loop in them is large enough to fit read through. Glad your day was not so hectic.
Got one final sided attached on the quilt, I might take some of it out as I’m not real happy with how it got a little bunchy. Will be very happy when this is all done.
