Good afternoon my friends. It's a beautiful sunny day here. A little too windy for my taste but ok. It's warm. The snow is melting. We're having a couple days break before the cold comes back. I wish I could say spring is not far off but here winter lasts forever. You may remember that last year it snowed here on June 3rd. Well maybe we'll take our trip before then and spend time away so that we miss the prolonged part of winter. Ginny, it's good to hear you're making much progress on that quilt top. Now, after you iron it, do you put the batting and backing on before taking or sending it to the long armer? It seems that everyone is making progress and that everyone has a new project planned. I wonder how Meg is. Meg if you're reading, stop in and say hello I am off track in making the things I wanted to make before our trip but actually what I made yesterday and finished today is a hat with a heart crocheted in it which is for a dgd's bday which was Feb3rd so I guess I'm somewhat on track. I did get that organizer done except for sewing where I want to divide the pouch into smaller pocket. That won't take long Here's the link to my heart hat.I thought it would be very complicated but wasn't. Once I got in my mind how the chart went and found the correct stitches it went well. www.acrochetedsimplicity.com/my-love-beanie-slouch-free-crochet-hat-pattern/?fbclid=IwAR33syrx-0FOHpR24zSapE9GNrd-QptiNlFXiPbCILGbo-z6RyaLTk7-gDI

Hello Crafters I want to thank all of you for the threading tips, I appreciate them all and will try them once I buy some supplies at the store. Sue - I hope your DH is doing alright and didn't have any problems from his fall. Ginny - Hope you can get the piece on the quilt back on. I hate having to take stitching out, but you've put a lot of work into this quilt, so I know you want it to look good. Phyl - Glad to hear your appointment went well. Ruth - You must have a beautiful view from your home. I'm glad you are getting a sunny day and hopefully the wind will die down. The heart beanie is so cute. I bet a young girl would love to wear that. Meg - Hope you are doing well and getting in some crafting. I finished threading some needles and did it the old fashioned way - wetting the thread and the needle. It was still a pain and I'm anxious to find a better way or I will not want to work on any of the other projects I have that use 3 strands of floss. I also did some crocheting on a blanket last night while I was watching TV. I did about 2 hours on it and at the end I realized that I really don't like this project. I'm going to switch over to one of the other 2 blanket projects I have unfinished and see if I like it better. And I put my walking foot on my sewing machine today and made a few mug rugs from the scraps I had of my father's shirts. It was good practice with the walking foot and I found that I didn't mind using it for straight line quilting. I need to pull out one of my small quilts and try some machine quilting with straight lines. I'm not sure I'll ever want to try free motion quilting on this machine. Take care everyone!

Ruth that hat is absolutely adorable! Who are you making it for and are you also using a lovely pink like in the picture? Glad you have pleasant weather for now, enjoy it before winter returns!!
CJ- I totally agree that it was time to put away that crocheting project if it was not making you happy. As far as needle threaders go, Phyl has probably the most economical idea but the needle eye has to be large enough for 3 strands. You will figure out what works best for you! What kind of pattern did you use for the mug rugs? Bet they are so cute.
I did take out a bit of stitching this am and will get back to that again soon. I also spent a lot of time getting my HL order in, I got free shipping and the yarn on sale so I am happy.
Once the quilt top is done everything gets a good pressing and then it goes to the long armer. She assembles the quilt sandwich. I am excited to get to that part.
As far as free motion quilting Goes it seems like you either love it or hate it. Once I got the hang of it I found I really liked it.
Ok. Dh wants to watch poldark. Ginny

CJ, I agree that if you're working on something and find you don't like it, then set it aside. You might never come to like it but then you can take it all apart and use the yarn for something else.
Ginny, It's good to hear that you have the quilt top apart and ready to be redone. I hope it comes out to your liking when you're able to get it put back together. I saw a beautiful baby blanket this morning will looking at the posts in the crochet FB groups and I thought of you right away but if we all kept changing our minds on which pattern we will use we'd never get anything done...well I wouldn't anyway...and I think your pattern is great. The one I saw was on a youtube video which I normally hate to work with but this one is easy so you con't have to keep the video going.
Thank you for liking the hat pattern. Yes I did make it with that same Red Heart ombre yarn if that's the one you're referring to. I had some left from another proect that I made with it and was afraid I wouldn't have enough but I did. Mine didn't turn out quite like that on...in color that is...because my color changes weren't the same on the part of the skein that was left. I think it's the same anyway. I doubt they'd have two different pinks. I don't have my label so can't check. Yes this is for my dgd that just turned 11.I'm going to make one for the 8 year old dgd also.I have blue ombre and also purple but I think I'll make her a purple one. Might have to make one each for the two great grandaughters too.

Good morning! Ruth, that is the “danger” of making something so pretty and so well- that others will also desire the same item. That heart hat is adorable, and yes I can see you making it for the other DGD and the two GGD’s too! I am really glad that you had enough yarn to finish. Cannot imagine what a shame it would be to have to get another skein for just a row or two. Funny you mention about the comments on the FB group about crochet patterns. I know we were all here 2 years ago when I was making the baby afghan for DGD#2 and i tried several patterns- with little success until I found the pattern I ended up using. Now I swore I would never ever make the pattern I made for DGS again, its gorgeous and looks like a quilt but is made from tiny granny squares. Way too much work putting that together!! Anyway someone here, and I think it was you, Ruth, suggested I make the same pattern I made for DGD#2 for this new baby. Great idea.....and so that is what it will be! I spent a lot of time working on the yarn- selecting type and color. I spoke to Dd yesterday and she is very up in the air with regard to when she will find out this baby’s gender. So that leaves me in a difficult place, and I do not want to have to go nuts making this afghan in a big rush. So I selected the teal ombre yarn at HL- its a lovely shade and I think fine for either a boy or girl.
Got all that nasty seam ripped out last night(I did not have much more to take out) and will pin it back into place after my shower. The directions did say to “Pin well” - and the issue is that the border is straight cut but the quilt is bias cut so they do not stretch the same way. Will pin if like crazy this am and get back to business. Dd is coming over today so I am unsure how much I will be able to finish. Ginny

Phyl, they forecasted 7 inches for us a few days ago and we got only about 3 inches so hopefully it will be the same there and you'll be able to get to your concert.
Ginny, yes I remember you making the blanket two years ago and yes it was me that said that I'd looked thru a lot of patterns this time and all the ones I liked were versions of your pattern. It's a really nice pattern. I have yet to finish mine that I started back then. I'm sure the teal ombre will work no matter if the baby is a boy or girl. Teal is a very pretty color and if it's the yarn you pointed out to us it's really pretty on the skein and will look great made into a blanket.
Yesterday about 4 the sky clouded up and the temp dropped a lot and it looked like snow. Sure enough we got more in the night but nothing alarming so I think we'll be able to get out fine both tomorrow when dh wants to do a little shopping and Tues for his doctor app't if nothing drastic happens weatherwise before then. It will be cold.Today will be crochet day and Wed is tax day for me.I do only the short form but it's still nerve wracking.I need to start a small crochet project to work on while waiting at the doctor's office both in the waiting room and while waiting in the exam room. All of you know how that is.

Hello Crafters Ginny - I didn't use a pattern for the mug rugs, I just put 2 pieces of the shirt fabric together with some batting and sewed around it Hope everyone is doing alright with all the bad weather around. I've had 2 days of sunny, but cold weather here. Looks like we'll get some rain this week. I haven't done any crafting today, doing other stuff. But I want to crochet a few rows on another blanket project and if I like it I'm going to take it with me tomorrow to an appointment I have for my car. I pulled out my fabrics for the Tumbler quilt project I've had for years. I have a lot of the blocks already cut and just have a few more 5 inch squares I need to use to cut the tumbler shape out. Then I have several small baggies of 5 inch squares that I've picked up at quilt shows over the years (from the guild tables), so I need to decide which of those I want to use and cut out the tumbler shape. Then I'll sort by lights and darks and then maybe sort them again by color. I'm not sure I want to make a quilt where I just pull out a fabric and put it next to another without any order, but if I have enough light fabrics then I wouldn't make doing a light, then a dark, then a light, etc. and sew the rows like that. Take care everyone!

Phyl- bet you are happy those paper piecing blocks are all done!!! Smile, its over and you did it. Bet they will make such a pretty quilt top when assembled together. 7 inches is a fair amount of snow, especially if it was a wet snow. Hope you enjoyed the performance this evening and get home safely.
CJ- well the best news would be that your car appointment is not terribly long so you do not have to keep yourself busy that long. It should be fun getting the fabrics figured out for the tumbler quilt but I know sometimes its a challenge deciding if its better to go random with fabrics and colors or attempt a pattern of sorts. Sounds like you have quite a stash of fabric, I so you will come up with a stunning quilt for sure. Have fun with it.
Ruth, I do not envy you- first off taking Dh to the doctors appointment and then having to get your taxes done. Think we are all afraid of some change in tax law or whatever that will throw us, and make life difficult. Did you get some crocheting time in to relax a bit today?
Finished the quilt top!! Its gotta be trimmed and ironed but its done and I am so happy. Gee its huge- quite a large piece with the corner pieces on it. Guess I am a little bit in shock that I made it.
I am going to steal CJ’s idea and make a mug rug for a friend from Bible study. I sat with her in church this am and she is having a difficult time with her husband at the moment. Thought if I made a little something for her it might cheer her a bit. So I will do a quick search online for an easy project.
Yuck tomorrow is Monday. Ginny

That's another reason I can't really do quilts because I'm so indecisive I'd never get the colors picked out so I'm glad you're good at it CJ and it does sounds as if you have plenty of materials on hand to work with
Phyl, congrats on getting the paper piecing done. I know you feel great that you did it.
Ginny and congrats to you too on finishing the quilt top. It's just amazing! I thought the inner part was beautiful and now that you've shown us thepicture of it completed we can all see how the parts you've added really bring it to an even higher level of beauty. Yes I did get in a little crocheting but very little so far. I started a project but I'm haing a hard time figuring out which stitches they're telling me to crochet into so I have to decide whether or not to continue with this one or go on to an easier one for now. I did, however get a lot of my yarn together to take with me on my trip. Oh I did get a very small project done yesterday that I also had problems with and I'm not sure I did it correctly but it's done and looks great so if it's not exactly right it doesn't seem to matter. I was about to give up on it. The biggest problem I had with it is because, as usual, I didn't stop to read the directions well enough. Is this the week you babysit every day? Is tomorrow a holiday? My days have been jumbled up and this morning when you said your dd was coming over I thought it was SAturday because I seem to remember that she comes over on Saturdays to do her laundry. It's great of you to make a little gift for that woman at church who is having problems. I know it will cheer her up some.
