Well I guess that this new year is officially here, next week we start March. Wow....
Ruth, glad you got some crocheting time in yesterday. Packing for a trip is never easy- you never really know what to bring or what will be needed. Then there is always the stuff that gets packed that does not get used, but its impossible to predict those items will be. Hope that you can pack peacefully and not with any panic or fear. Gotta laugh over your comment about Dh having the closet space and not really using much of what he has stored. Its sort of the same here...I gave up my tiny closet, which Dh now has(so now he has 2 closets). I took over Dd#2โs closet, which is still half full with her stuff. So I only gained a tiny amount of space in the move. But that is the room that will become my sewing room. In it she still has some stuff under the bed also. Guess we will paint it in the spring. But Dh has been clamoring to get my sewing area moved into a room where it can be closed off with a door and not seen, so that is what I am doing. Hopefully I can complete that process today.
Gotta watch all 3 little ones for about an hour this am- but its an easier day as I will be in town and just take the kids to the playground at my church. Dd has an appointment nearby.
Ok better get myself moving. Ginny

Have fun with the children at the playground Ginny. Yes my dh also has two closets. So why do we ladies have only one? The walkin that he uses is not a large one and the other is pretty small but mine is tiny but I fit a lot into it.
Then I first came upstairs this morning it was overcast and snowing but now the sun suddenly made an appearance and it looks like the snow has stopped.
I accomplished quite a bit over the weekend getting some moving and tripping things done as well as some crochet projects at least close to being done and a couple completely done.Today I'm going to work on both those things again and also make an apple pie or crisp. I found a pretty pattern for eyeglass case and will make one each for one of the dgds and one for dil as they both use contacts but have glasses for when they need to take the contacts out..I also found a pattern for over the book pen holders and have two nearly made. They can use them on their Bibles or journals or whatever book they like. They are cute. They show a pompom at the end of the cord that holds the whole thing in place but I'm going to use beads instead.
I hope that everyone has a good day today and a great week. Time is passing way too fast for me. Last night I thought...another week starts tomorrow..I can't believe it..and here it is.

Ruth, the idea of the eyeglass cases sounds so nice and practical too. Over the book pen holders will be useful too, especially if they journal or take notes while studying their bibles. You come up with the greatest ideas for sure. I can smell that apple pie/crisp here...yummmmm!! I am sure that Dh will appreciate that and the house must smell incredible. Will you be able to enjoy some also?
Sunny here and warm for February. I got a short walk in - and also got 90% of what I wanted moved into DDโs bedroom so that I can start sewing there. The stuff is moved, but still not organized. I did need to make sure my machine is in the cabinet (which I can put baby locks on) so that little DGD#2 does not do anything she should not with it. Last week she seemed so curious and was pushing buttons on the machine. And I vacuumed today, so I guess I got some activity in for sure.

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today Ginny - Hope the grandkids had a good time with you today, and enjoyed the playground if you went. How exciting to get your sewing room set up. I love having a room dedicated to my crafting, it's been great. Ruth - Hope things go well with getting ready for the trip. I don't envy you that, but I'm glad you are still getting some crocheting done. Meg, Phyl and Sue - Hope you are getting some crafting done. It's sunny and milder here today. I went out earlier and got a groceries. I also finished piecing together the small tumbler block quilt with all the novelty fabrics. It ended up measuring 28x32, with 56 tumbler blocks. I'm glad I pulled those fabrics out from the others ones I'll be using the bigger quilt, since some of them are very "busy" and not the look I want for the big quilt. I need to draw out a plan for the larger quilt and decide how I'll arrange the blocks before I start sewing. It was pretty easy sewing the tumblers together and the rows went together well too, so I'm hoping the larger quilt will be just as easy. Take care everyone!

Ginny, it's always good when it's fairly warm in February. I like that the days are getting longer too and will be even longer soon. Congrats on getting most of your things moved to your new sewing room. I probably will have a small piece of the pie. I ended up making pie instead of crisp so it, of course, has flour. When I make crisp I grind oatmeal into oat flour, use some of the whole oats and of course brown sugar and butter so it has no gluten. Today I thought I'd make a pie for dh which is what he likes better although he loves the crisp too.
CJ, I'm glad the tumbling blocks were easy to sew together and it sounds as though you made an excellent choice in picking fabric that is best for each one.
No I don't have great ideas, I just see things online and realize they would work well for a specific family member or members. I forgot that I also started a water bottle holder last night. I'll finish that today. This morning I made a messy bun/ponytail hat for the second oldest grandaughter who will be 15 in the middle of March (second oldest in Indiana that is) and I made it with chunky yarn so it didn't take long at all and is pretty.I want to make fingerless gloves to match that. I plan to finish my list this week then I can start on the cross afgan.
Have a great evening all.

Ruth, Ruth, Ruth, your list of projects has my head spinning!! Think the water bottle holder is such a great idea- all the kids are carrying water these days! And I do love the idea of a messy bun holder is great, whoever thought up the idea of messy buns was a genius, who would have thought that messy hair would look so cute and perfect. I am anxious to hear that you are starting the cross afghan. That will be such a pretty project. Apple crisp is so yummy- which I prefer over pie cause itโs easier to put together.
CJ- the good news is that you used the busier prints and got a trial run on construction of the tumbler quilt. I bet you learned a lot about it on the smaller one. I figure that the larger one will go together just as easily and you will have a good time arranging the fabrics so it looks just right. Enjoy the milder weather. Think we will ever have winter this year?
So, I ordered fabric for the baby quilt (my hairdressers baby)- got a charm pack and backing - so that will be my next project. Gotta press my BOM and its backing fabric for next week when I give it to the long armer. THink that now I will get back to setting up my new sewing area so I can find stuff. Easier said than done. Ha ha ha Ginny

Phyl, well you do get out a lot so missing sit and sew day will just give you a little time to relax. Don't worry abut any mistakes you made in that paper piecing. You are just starting to do those right? So you're learning and that's what counts.
Ginny, you have a lot of projects too. Making a baby quilt is a lot of work. My crocheting isn't that complicated.
Well it's 4 degrees now.I wonder what it will get down to later in the night. I guess it's supposed to snow again too and may have already or it might be snowing now. I haven't looked out.
I did get some crocheting in and am working down my list. Right now I have a lot of things that just need the finishing touches like the ends woven in. I got a few things accomplished in the house too so all in all it was a fairly productive day. I also ordered some books on identifying rocks as my dgd that just turned 11 is a little rock hound like many several others in our family. She can't wait for us to get there to visit and go rock collecting with her. My oldest grandson makes jewelry from his rocks and sells it. He does a pretty good job too.It supplements the income for their little family.
Well it's about bedtime. See you all tomorrow.

Good evening!
Just heard (a flash on the screen from the weather channel) that there is a massive car accident in Canada due to snow. Had no idea that there was a system like that out there as I was out of the house all day. Ruth and Sue, stay safe in this nasty weather.... Phyl, sounds like it has not gotten that far south to impact you too badly.
Phyl, well for your first paper piecing project I am sure you learned a lot. No one will scrutinize it as you are doing, and I am sure it all looks really good. Forgive yourself for the imperfections and chalk it up to experience.
Ruth the gem/rock books are wonderful ideas. My Dd was into that for a short while and it is a fascinating hobby. Glad your day was so productive.
Babysat all day- so I got nothing done other than watch little ones- who were very good.
Have a good night all Ginny

Good evening everyone.
Ginny, it's good to hear that the grandchildren were good. From what you say about them I would guess that they are pretty good most of the time...very well behaved children who are a pleasure to be around
It's very cold here today. I think it only got up to 13 officially.I'll be glad when winter is over.I didn't hear about the car wreck but that's one of the reasons were still here instead of on a trip.
Today I worked on finishing some of the things that needed finishing touches but still have a few more to do. I ripped out one of the water bottle holders because I decided I didn't like it much. The second one I had made using my own ideas instead of the pattern I used for the ripped out one. I really like the one I just did on my own.Now I'm nearly done with the remake on one ripped out. I also have to remake my dh's hat. I used Ferris Wheel yarn which is a very nice yarn but it stretched so much that he could no long wear it.I ripped it out to back where my increasing finished up and will take out one more row of increase to make it smaller and when I get back to the brim I'll do it with a smaller hook. After the Ferris wheel yarn one stretched he started wearing another one I made and that also stretched and it blew off his head the other day when we were shopping when the wind was so bad so that one is probably lost forever. Anyway I dont know what the problem is with these stretching so much.

hello friends,
ok I start with the long arm question the other day.
the quilt shop I was in Sunday has a Gammel. .(SP) the shop is owned by Chris and Steve. Chris has never used it. Steve love the machine it is his a baby.
talked to my niece to day. she had a machine. called it a tinker and said you have to tinker with it before using it. she does not have time to thinker. sold it.
this is important.
tell your friend she needs to go to a quilt shop that specials in long arms or a dealer. find one with very good support. they will come out and set it up for you and help you with any problems.come out any other time to help with problems.
Marie was looking a table top long arm machine you can set at. did not like it.does not like to get under machines and have to cut threads.(has your friend thought about that?)
Bernia makes this model. $14,000 - 15,000.look it up online.
MARIE has the Bernia 790 .says she can do long arm type stitching and embroidery. she can
lots to think about when you want a long arm. you just don't buy them and set them up yourself. also quilters go to classes somewhere on learning the machine. e my quilter friend Maxine goes to school every year for classes to learn what is new.she has stuff on the computer so you can pick your design and have her quilt it. really quite the setup.it is her business.
seems like most quilter who do the quilting just for themselves after so many years sell their machines. phyl
ps I hope your friend does not pick a grammel just because I mentioned the name.this is something she has to research.

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today We had mild weather yesterday, but today and tomorrow it's going to be colder. We're missing the snow that is south of where I live. I haven't had time to do any crafting but I did decide that how I want to set up my tumbler quilt and I'll need some more quilt blocks to get the right number so I'll need to see if I have enough fabric (in the right colors) in my stash to cut. I went out to lunch yesterday with a relative and had some good BBQ brisket. Today I was able to mail out the 2 other boxes to family and I'm so glad that is done. It had really given me some anxiety to get them done and mailed out. I stopped in a grocery store when I was out today and they had rhubarb in stock, I was surprised. It looked really good so I bought all the had and also a quart of strawberries, so I'll stew those together. I've finished most of the things on my list for this month, but just have one more where I want to get some business papers in order. I hope I can get that done by next week. Hope you are all having good weather and getting some crafting in

CJ, congratulations on getting your list for the month completed. You said you had one more thing to do and I know you'll get it done in time. My list went by the wayside (as most of my lists seem to do) but I did get a bunch of things done that weren't on my list. I need to work on a list for next month.Since we have 9 more days to go maybe I'll get a few more of my listed things done which will include doing my taxes. And right now I'm feeling a huge sense of relief because I actually though there was less time left until I looked at the side of my page and saw that today is only the 20th. I do hope, CJ, that you have the fabric left in your stock that you need to make the extra blocks that you need.I'm surprised the store had rhubarb at this time of year and am glad you found it. Stewed rhubarb with or without strawberries is so good.
It's cold again today but also windy so it feels worse. I had to wait upstairs for the trash collectors to get here so that I could put my bin back into a safe place and I was so glad they finally got here at 2:15 so that I could come down to my warm "quarters"where dh was sleeping after taking the bin to the curb.It was stuck in the snow so he had to dig it out.
I did finish up my dgd's messy bun hat...had to add a row, and now am working on some fingerless gloves to go with it. I'm making up my own pattern as I go and am about to start on the second glove. After that I'm going to work on the two cases for eyeglasses that I mentioned.I have one started.
Havve a great evening and I hope that the rest of you had a great day. Phyl, congrats on all the exercise. I hope your back doesn't hurt today from all that.
