I lost my dear husband yesterday to a heart attack. Will check in when I can- and hope not to drag down this wonderful thread when I am feeling less strong.

Doing as good as can be expected. Today will be more planning and getting ready for final arrangements.
When I finally got a chance to sit and watch some television at the end of the day, I did get a few stitches done on the baby afghan. Yesterday I had to email the long armer and explain to her that I will not be able to meet with her for a month, if I am ready then. Ginny

Hello Crafters Ginny - I'm hoping that making the final arrangements will go well, I'm sure you'll have family with you to help. I've been through that several times and it's difficult. I'm happy to hear that your are doing some crocheting. I remember several times in my life when things were tough and doing something creative with my hands brought me some peace, I hope that it will for you too. The weather here is milder today after 2 days of temps in the 30s. But it's been sunny for several days, so it's a nice winter day. The Mystery Scrap Dance quilt I'm doing issued their second clue yesterday and it was really easy and quick to do, so I have it done. I hope the rest of the clues each month are easy too. The project ends in August. I know I don't need to start any new projects, but I have just been wanting to make some more quilt blocks for the monthly Rainbow Scrap Challenge. I pulled a few fat quarters out and I might make some hourglass blocks with them, using the monthly colors so far - January (Green) and February (Orange). It does feel good to work on a small project and also to use some of this fabric I've had for so long. I'm trying to pull the softer color fabrics - more like pastels and then I'll use white fabric with them. Hope you are all doing well this weekend

Good evening, CJ- ok so you do not need to take out any new projects but sometimes it is just fun to do so. I like the idea of using the softer colored fabric /pastels and white. It all sounds very pretty and springlike. Its such a good idea to have a scrap challenge, or a stash buster- so that you can use up all those neat fabric pieces that you have been collecting for so long. Nice that you have had good weather- really almost spring like. It does tend to lift the spirit.
Another roller coaster day, which I expected. The planning has gone fairly well- and I am so blessed with wonderful people in my life who are praying for me and helping out. Our kids have been great, each helping out and being gracious in their own way.
Tonight seems as though it will be quiet, and I think I will enjoy that after all the busyness of the past 2 days. Praise God that I slept pretty well last night- and am hoping that I can do the same tonight. Might try a bit of crocheting in a bit. Ginny

CJ, I'm glad the hint for the next month's block is easy. I know that using scrap fabric, and in my case scrap yarn, is a great idea. I came across a hat pattern that will use a lot of my scrap yarn. Your color choices sound great too. Pastels will be great for this time of year since spring will be here...well sooner there than here
Ginny, under the circumstances I'm sure you'll have a lot of roller coaster days. I'm thankful you were able to sleep fairly well and hope and pray that you will be able to get some sleep tonight too.
As usual I'm keeping myself occupied by crocheting.I'm not sure I'm going to get my planned projects for this past week done. I had to rip out the glass cases because they turned out way too long for a pair of glasses.I'll start over sometime.
Also when we were at dd's house a couple days before Christmas one of the dgds asked me to make a hat for her boyfriend and showed me yarn she would like it made with (I had taken a bunch of crocheted things for all of them for Christmas) and I told her I was out of that yarn so she said she would go and pick out the yarn she wanted me to use and bring it over. She hasn't been over since. Well yesterday on FB crochet group someone posted about people asking those of us that do crafts to make something for them and I mentioned the dgd. Well instead of posting on the crochet group thread it somehow showed up on a thread that my dd had posted. DGD saw it and said she had forgotten and would now go and get yarn so it looks like I'll have another project to complete before our trip. I'm not sure what kind of hat she wants. If she told me, I've forgotten. I'm sure she'll let me know.A hat made with blanket yarn shouldn't take long at least.

Good morning, Ruth, you are so right that a hat made with blanket yarn should fly- easy to see your stitches too. Good that DGD will select the yarn so there is no guessing on color. I just hope that she picks out a yarn that is easy to work with.
Slept ok. My mind is starting to race with all the stuff that i will have to take care of once all the formalities are over. I know with the Lords help I will get through it all- but right now it seems monumental.
Did get some crochet time in last night. Right now the pattern does not look right, but if I remember correctly by the time you get to the 5th or 6th row it all straightens out.
Heading out this am with Ds to check out the cemetery (Dd#2 and her husband will be with us and I will continue on to church with them, Dd#1 has already checked it out). Its a veterans cemetery and fairly new- so it does not look as pretty as well established ones. Ginny

Ginny, I only know of a very few things that need to be done so if the time ever comes that I have to do all that you're going to be doing,I'll have to find it all out. I know you have to give death certificates to a zillion companies and banks etc and have to change names on various kinds of account but I know nothing specific. One of my other friends husband passed away about three years ago and just recently she had a problem with a bank account beccause his name was still on it. She thought that since both their names were there that it sould be fine. She might have received bad info I don't know and can't remember any specifics. But you know we'll all be holding you up in prayer as you take care of all these very stressful tasks while also dealing with unspeakable grief. Hugs to you my dear friend. Well I asked my dgd to refresh my memory on what hat she wanted me to make and she sent me a message with pics of two hats she wants instead of just one. I'm glad the grands like the things I make but on the other hand it is time consuming but at least the hats she wants are simple ones except for one feature on the first hat that I will have to figure out.

Hello Crafters Ginny - I hope the visit to the cemetery goes well and you can decide if you want to use it. After going through all the "business" things that come with a death when my father died, I know some of what you are going through. It almost seems like we don't get time to grieve our loss because there is so much business to take care of. I hope that you will not have any problems taking care of those things. Hope your crochet project will straighten up for you. Ruth - I experienced that issue with the bank when my father died. Since his Social Security check went into the account that had both of our names on it, I had to close the account even though we had already notified Social Security that he had passed away. I actually cried on the way to the bank to close the account because it was like losing another piece of him. I'm glad that your DGD showed you what she wanted to make for you and now you get to make two things It was sunny here again today and in the 50s. I went out to JoAnn's earlier since I started cutting up fabrics to make the Hourglass blocks and realized I needed more of the white fabric again - just like for the project before. This time I bought all the fabric on the bolt - 8 yards - that should last for a bit I also bought 3 yards of another white on white fabric that was pretty soft. I find so many of these white on whites are very stiff, or that they have a large design, and I like the smaller prints and softer fabrics. I also picked up some gray thread - they had a sale buy 3 spools of thread and get 2 free. I usually use white for all my projects, but I realized I can't machine quilt everything with white thread and I thought the gray thread would blend better. I checked out the blogs at Slow Sunday Stitching too, so that's all my crafting for the day unless I can work on the Hourglass blocks some more. Take care everyone!
