Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today We didn't get as much snow as they said, it was more sleet and ice. I went out a little while ago and cleared off my steps/sidewalk and cars, so that the wind we're getting will dry them off. The ice is starting to melt off the trees and bushes too. I haven't started machine appliqueing my shamrocks, but they are all ready to go. I kind of have to be in the mood to do machine applique since it's not my favorite thing. I'm been really longing to work on a project using the Big Stitch hand quilting technique and I remembered a single block I'd hand pieced some years ago. I pulled that out and made a quilt sandwich with some polyester batting (hand quilters recommend this very often), and I'm going to watch a few videos and work on this block for practice. I'm going to try to do it without a hoop and see how that works. Ginny - I hope you keep power and you don't get as much snow as they said. I'm glad you have the day off and your bracelets sound like they are coming along well. Ruth - I'm glad things worked out with your phone. Phyl - Glad you are getting in some quilting and hope things went well today. Meg - I hope you are feeling alright today. Take care everyone!

Hello everyone,
I slept late this morning and I do feel better though my right arm is still swollen and stiff but not as bad as yesterday. Of course I didn't get any knitting done and I miss doing that. But I may try today and see if I can do it.
Ginny, I hope you are safe in the storm and that you still have power. I am glad you do not have to drive the bus today as there seems to be so much ice.. stay safe, keep warm.
cj, I hope you don't have to drive on the ice. I saw a news clip and they were talking about the storm. Hopefully the ice and snow will melt away and that will be the end of it this year. It is time for spring, DS just came in and said the strawberry plants that he and Devin planted last year are starting to bloom. Spring is on it's way.
Ruth, I hope you have managed to avoid the storm.
Have a great day everyone.

Ginny, that is a LOT of snow. It will be nice to have another day off and nice that you know in advance. I hope you don't have to go out anywhere
CJ, I hope you don't have to go out either until all the ice is gone.
Meg, I sure wish spring was coming here This week is great. It's in 60's and one or two days will be in low 70's but then I'm sure winter will be back. And it's not that I don't like winter, I just like to be warm.
I'm glad your arm is feeling a little bit better. I hope you can knit.
Ginny, yes, seeing the pictures really made me want to make some so I need to get my bday projects done so I can work on making some. Yes the young woman I mentioned,,my cousin's neice Anna, isn't our bio family at all but she's very interested in our family because her grandfather was a part of it. I sent her more pics today. She sounds like a very nice woman and in my opinion is a great addition to our family. I didn't know her dad well because he lived mostly with his mother but he did live with his dad and my aunt who was his stepmother for a couple years so I had met him when we were both teenagers. He and his dad both had a hereditary form of muscular dystrophy and he died when his daughter Anna was only 11. Anna also has symptoms of it but not as bad as her dad. One of her two daughters also has it. Her dad Roger obviously had a very bad case because it affected his smooth muscle too and he died of heart failure as a result and , as I said, at a young age with a young family. My cousin Becky also had mild symptoms.
Phyl, it's so nice when we have get togethers with others are are really good in areas that we are not as good in. We can learn a lot that way. At Caps for Kids I taught things to several people.
Well back to work but I had to stop in again and say hello. No I have to stop procrastinating

Well it was a beautiful day here again. It won't last altho it's supposed to last for about another week or so.
Ginny, I haven't received the tealights yet so I don't know how they will work in the holders. I'm hoping they are the same size as normal tealight candles because those fit great. I don't know about batteries either. There are 12 tea lights and they say batteries are included where on some it says one battery is included so we'll see. I might have to order some batteries. The tealights were supposed to have been delivered to the mail box yesterday but I didn't go down there. I used to walk down to it but since I haven't walked any distance in awhile so I don't want to walk all the way down there and not be able to make it home. I really need to get on the ball with exercise. On the way back is a big hill.
I do plan on making a bunch more tealight holders to give as gifts. I think the ones I already have made that are a little too large will be good for votive candles. I'll have to see about finding one around here to see how the size works then get some to go with these couple larger holders. Next I have to work on my dd's bday presents then I can make bracelets and more holders.and those fingerless gloves

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today Ginny - I'm so very sorry you don't have to work today Wow, 20 inches of snow, hope you are O.K. and able to stay home for a bit and not have to get out into it. Enjoy the time at home Ruth - Sounds like you have a few interesting projects ahead to work on. I hope you can check your mailbox soon, maybe you can drive to it? Meg - Hope you arm is feeling better today. Phyl - Glad you enjoyed the Sew and Sew yesterday. The ice hear is not too bad, most of the roads are clear. Fortunately I don't have to go anywhere if I don't want too, so I'm staying home. It's very windy and cold here today. I printed off the instructions for the two quilt blocks that come out today and picked out fabrics for them. If I can motivate myself I may cut the fabrics later and then be ready for the block tomorrow. I don't think the shamrocks are going to get appliqued onto the quilt by this St. Patrick's Day, I'm just not feeling like doing the machine applique. I did a little bit of the Big Stitch Quilting last night and I like the process, but the 8 weight Perle Cotton I used was too thick for this one block test. I think that thread would work on a bigger quilt though. I tried a little bit of a 12 weight thread (which equals the size of two strands of embroidery floss) and I liked the look of that better. I don't have a lot of 12 weight thread, so I guess that's an excuse to go to JoAnn Fabrics this week and look for some Take care everyone!

Good afternoon!
CJ- aw, gee.....another trip to Joanns?! My heart breaks for you. I am not familiar with the Big Stitch quilting- I do think you have mentioned it here before. Glad that you like the process- and are having success finding which supplies work best for that. You are making good progress on that quilt block of the week- are you learning much new from that process?
Ruth, I hope that the tea lights arrived...agreed it's probably a good idea to drive to check the mail if you are unsure. Or have someone else check! Have you figured out what you are doing with the bracelets? Are you going to use that flower like pattern that you found? What a wonderful thing that you are able to share your family history with Anna.
Phyl- sometimes projects are like that- where you do not seem to think you made any progress. I forget- how do you make the celebration bracelet?
Meg- praying that you heal quickly! So nice to see signs of spring!Hope that you get a nice strawberry crop!
We did go out- had to shovel MIL's walkway (so the house looks lived in) and run a few short errands. Actually bought lawn fertilizer- lawn? What lawn? It's under 2 feet of snow! Two districts away from us has a delayed opening tomorrow.... Gee, that would be nice! No crafting today, but I was reminded of a wall hanging that I have all the precut fabric for....it would be a simple and easy project. I also ought to come up with something for my niece who is getting married in the fall. Just have no idea what to make- as she lives a few hundred miles from here and I do not know what her taste is.
Think we ended up with 24 inches of snow. A lot of shoveling....and when we were out there are many who still have not gotten out of their driveways.
I hope to work on the bracelets this evening. Take care all! Ginny

Oh yes CJ, we are definitely heartbroken that you have to torture yourself by going to Joanne's...lol. If I lived near one I'd be there too just looking.
Ginny, that's just way too much snow. Yes I probably should drive down to the mailbox just to see if the lights got here but I think we're going out tomorrow so I'll probably wait and just stop then. If they're not there I'll check in Walmart and see but I'm sure they're here by now. The second set I bought that was really cheap seem to be coming from China so they won't be here for awhile which is fine. I don't need them right away. As for the bracelets, no I'm not going to do that other one right away. Your's seem so nice I'm going to do those. I'll do the others later when I have time.
I did get the hanging angel almost done last night. I just have to sew on the flowere. I weaved in ends and now I just have to weave in ends on the tea light holders and finish the angel dishcloth which won't take much time.I'm not mailing the box till next week so no hurry but I'd like to get them done so that I can start on other things knowing that those projects are all completed.
Meg, I hope you're having a good day too and that your arm is better.
Phyl, I know you're keeping busy as usual.
Tomorrow we'll be going not only to Walmart but to pick up dh's prescription refills and do a little grocery shopping...very little since there's nothing that we really need.
Have a good evening all. See you all later probably

hi, oh yeah I bet that broken heart was doing a happy dance.lol just as cj is doing a happy dance to joann's.lol I can 't make up my mind if I want to do a quilted easter basket for hannah and lizzie. I have so many projects going now. the pattern is on you tube. just type in quilted baskets. ruth you probably could do these.
today delona and I met at mcd. then the y, then woodmen's. then she was hungry by noon so we went to to coney island at the mall. I almost bought a purse. but the lady in front of me was returning something. then when that transaction was done the clerk started ringing up a whole pile of items. so I put the purse back. this was happening in the purse and jewelry department. she had a lot of clothes. sometimes I think certain type customers act like they are the only ones to be helped. the lady did see me put the purse back. got a funny look. not like I don't have other purses.
I gave delona all the dish clothes. ten crochet ones and nine knitted ones. plus some left over yarn. now I will start that baby blanket.phyl

Well I'm all done with the birthday presents for dgd and ddil...yayyyyy!! Now I just have to decide for sure what I'm going to make for dd, get that started and start on the fingerless gloves her friend wanted. I'm also going to work on those bracelets. I can't believe the amount of floss I have. I ordered some on Amazon and in the mail came a large envelope packed with floss. No metallic though so tomorrow I'll check at Walmart because I think metallic bracelets will be nice. I also want to make a bunch of red, white, and blue ones. Ginny what do you think about just leaving some of the chain to tie the bracelets on the wrist. I see a lot of bracelets that are made just to tie..I do think I like the idea of the loop and button better though.
Phyl, I'm definitely going to look up those Easter Baskets. I don't plan to make any for this year but I think they would be great to make. One year, years ago when my kids were little I made six crochet Easter baskets. They were quite large and had added ears and the jiggly eyes put on and pipe cleaners for the whiskers. Made them for my two and four neices and nephews.. or my dh's actually. Back when my ds had only four children I made each of them one of the same basket.I could make the quilt ones for the great grands for next year. Thanks for telling us about them, Phyl
Ok I'm off to look up that youtube.

good to see you Meg, I'm sorry you lost your post because I love hearing from you
Phyl, is the youtube you're referring to the one by Vannessa somebody. The baskets are square and she also talks about making them into just boxes. Is that the right one? At any rate they are very nice. I see she talks about wonder clips I think she called them and the pen that has the vanishing ink. I had one of those but it dried up. We never used that in the class I took. I'll look for one at walmart. Dh is now saying that he might not go so I might just stay at home too but I'm not sure. I ordered some clips online but they aren't the real wonder clips. I have plastic clothespins and I wonder if they would work just as well.I probably would make a few of those baskets but wouldn't necessarily use them as EAster baskets but as baskets for gift giving and could fill them with various things...such as my friend in the nursing home. I could put in a nice soap, some lotions and a nice soft washcloths, maybe a nice smelling shampoo or body wash or maybe some kind of snacks instead. They would also be good for baby showers or even for little birthday gifts or house warming gifts. and of course the basket itself would have a lot of uses after the little things were used.

Good morning! Phyl, quilted Easter baskets sound like a cute idea! I have some lovely fabric that was given to me. Perhaps I could try making them. Interesting story with the purse . You cannot be blamed for walking away.
Ruth, yes I have thought about leaving the ends to tie on the bracelets. I finished the second one last night , still need to add the closure. With a 40 to 48 inch starting length, I can easily adapt to either a tied or button closure.
Meg, I wonder why posts are dropped too! Hope you are feeling
CJ are you heading to Joanns todday?
Two hour delay this am. Nice to be home yet. See ya later, Ginny
