morning, I took 2 sleep aids last night. had a heck of a time sleeping. might have gotten an hour or two. finally go tout of bed at 4.30. went back to bed at 8.did sleep a little.
yes ruth that is the video. fabric box or baskets diy tutorial. Theresa was trying to figure out how to make one. a lady in her guild was making them and wouldn't tell theres a how to do it.so I suggested you tube. theresa never tried you tube. she thought you had to pay for it. that is how I found out about the baskets. thesea made just the little box one at frist. about the size of a party favor.
you can get those clips at hobby lobby, michaels, joann, andy quilt shop.the clips come in 10 In a package or 30 in a box. can also be ordered from missouri star quilt company.clothes pins can work. just hope they don't leave a mark. remember the old metal silver bobby pin clips? those would work. heck you probably could even use safety pins. I use a water soluble pen. mark your fabric, quilt and then just spray water on the markings, let dry and they are gone.doesn't take alot of water. just don't mark to hard of deep.sometimes that can cause a problem getting the marking out.
when I use iron on fusible or adivise spray I put a towel under my project, that spray will gum up other things. the fusible iron on type can make a mess out of your ironing board and your iron. so make sure you board is cover and you are ironing on the fabric.
a fabric dryer sheet will help take off the guke on the iron. but then other things you iron will smell like the dryer sheet.phyl

OH Phyl, thank you so much for all the info and tips and advice. I forgot that she mentioned the spray. I'll have to get some of that too. or that iron on stuff you mentioned. I do have some of those hair clips actually. I got them to hold my crochet things together when I need to join pieces but now I use stitch markers so I still have those silver hair clips. the clothes pins I have are cheapies so they wouldn't leave marks. They don't even hold the clothes on the line because they aren't strong in clipping. I think they'd work real well. Those baskets are just the thing I like to make. Little things not whole quilts. Things like those baskets and tote bags would be more my speed and would make great gifts too. I'm sure they have other small things online that you can make with fabric and especially quilted things. Today before I start making my dd's things I'm going to make a few gift things. Not the baskets yet as I don'thave all those things I need. I have friends that need cheering up. I think a couple nice washcloths and bottle of nice body lotion or wash would do the trick or a nice thick potholder and some dishcloths. And if only I had the baskets to put them in I'd really have a good gifts. MOst people have room in their bathrooms for a little basket and I think a basket of nice quest soaps when be great and then they could use it to hold other things. So as soon as I get all the needed supplies I'm going to make those. I think she mentions on youtube that you need batting but I don't think she mentioned what kind or what thickness. I have only the thin wonder warm or whatever it's called and I don't think it would be thick enough. what do you think or what is your advice on that? I'm so glad I have you all to talk to and give me hints and am grateful that you read and sympathize with my crocheting woes

Phyl, I would have walked away too and I'm glad the clerk saw you do it. Maybe that will give her an idea of how she should do her job better.
Ginny, I'm glad you got a delay so you could stay home longer. When I was working sometimes they would call and tell me they didn't need me until 6 rather than a 3 so I was always happy to have that extra time at home too.
CJ, have a great time at Joanne's. I love looking at nice fabric. When I was at WAlmart the other day I didn't bother looking at the fabric. I just looked to see if they had different battings. I don't know why I didn't look at gabric. I guess I was agraid I'd want to buy some. Now I with I had look and got some Easter fabric but I will next time. I'd bet they have the things I need for the baskets too
Well dh is up so I'll bbl

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today www.youtube.com/watch?v=nwql9NvL3N8 - This is a You Tube video by Crafty Gemini for a type of Easter basket that I have several of. I bought them at Craft Fairs. She has several other fabric basket videos. I like the way she presents things, they are easy to understand. There are probably a lot of videos out there for fabric basets. All of your projects sound so interesting, and I'm happy everyone is getting to do something enjoyable. I didn't got to JoAnn Fabrics today, I'll probably do that tomorrow. And I plan to walk right on by the fabric section, without stopping I cut the fabrics for the two weekly blocks that come out on Wednesday and have them ready to sew. I just printed off the pattern for the block that comes out today, so I'm going to get that fabric cut today too. Then I can just do the sewing all at one time. The pieces for the 6 inch block are so tiny, I might have gotten myself into something that's a little bit too much work But I'll stick with it for a little bit and see what happens. One of the pieces I cut today is only 1 7/8 inches big!!! Take care everyone.

ruth I think the batting will work. these baskets are not stiff like if we made a tote or something. they're more for decorations or use for something. I did forget to tell you before about marking pens. be careful. most of the marking pens will not disappear if you iron with the markings in your project. the heat will set the marks.so be sure your marks have gone away. same thing with throwing your project in the dryer if the marks are still on them. there are some marking pens that won't do the heat thing. so be sure to read the instructions before you buy one.
I am not going to use the spray. I got some lightweight fusible web to iron on.
we went to joann's and they didn't have what I cared for to make the baskets. so of few go to hobby lobby. I did find something for Hannah's basket.
so still looking for lizzie. she is tenth grader, teenager. so looking for something she might want to use later In life. she is into soccer and show choir. also likes purses. I knew her style I could just get her purse and use that as a basket. I will figure something out.
we can't blame the clerk. the girl was doing her job. it was the customer who saw me put it back. phyl

CJ, the youtube Phyl mentioned is on Grafting Gemini or whatever you said in your post. I heard that she has other videos. Some people were giving her a hard time in comments but some people just love to do that. I just looked at the page so far but not the video itself so I'll look at the video sometime this evening.
Thanks again Phyl, I did get another pen while out today. We went out after all even though dh said last night he didn't think he would want to go and even said that I could just go myself but I had decided that if he stayed home I would also. I looked at all their floss and they had no metallic but I do have nice colors for bracelets. I saw the spray they mentioned but it's so expensive that I didn't get any.I think i have fusible web. I forgot about that when I was there. As for the batting I thought maybe you needed more fluffy batting. This that I have is very thin...like a piece of fabric itself.I'll remember to be careful that the markings are gone before ironing or putting in a dryer.
We were out for quite awhile and then sat and talked and before we even realized it was already 6:30 so the evening is nearly over already.Bought a new vacuum cleaner while we were out so tomorrow will be vacuuming day. The whole house except kitchen and bathrooms are carpeted so there's a lot to do. It will be a real test of the new cleaner and if it doesn't work the way I want I'll take it back. The last one I bought didn't work well at alland it also smelled like burning rubber when I use it. and I waited too long and probably can't return it now but I may still try.what can they do but just say that it can't be returned. The brush moves around fine and there's no clogs so I don't know why the odor. The belt is ok too so it's a mystery.

Just a short hello as I have to go back to work in 10 minutes. The elementary kids had an early dismissal (probably end of marking period- teacher conferences). So I am home for just a few minutes before I have to go take the big kiddies home.
CJ thanks for the link for the fabric baskets. They are adorable! Look easy to make also.
Ruth- best of luck with the new vacuum.
Phyl- hope you figure out a gift for Lizzie.
My crafting yesterday was to watch the YouTube on making those fabric baskets.
Gotta go Ginny

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today Ruth - I like the Crafty Gemini's YouTube projects. She explains things very well. Here are a few of her videos that I've made things from: www.youtube.com/watch?v=9tZgCIEsEXs - Crochet Hook Roll Up - I like keeping some of my hooks in this case. I never thought I could make something like this, so I was pretty proud of myself for completing it www.youtube.com/watch?v=TAomYjHzUQk - Pillowcase - This is really easy, I've made several of these I hope your new vacuum works well for you. Phyl - Hope you can find what you need for your baskets. Ginny - I just posted two more videos for you to watch Meg - Hope you are doing well today. I did go to JoAnn Fabrics today and found some needles I was looking for. I also bought a new thimble. I'm always trying thimbles to find one that I like the best. I couldn't find any of the 12 weight thread there, so I'm guessing I'm going to have to buy that online or else in a quilt store. Take care everyone.

Phyl, I hope you had a good night's sleep last night after the poor sleep you got the night before CJ. I always hate when I go to a store and they don't have what I want Ginny, seems like a lot of changes in times go with your job. I know the little kids are happy to get out early. I always wonder how working parents deal with the changes in times that happen during the year. I haven't done a thing today yet except sort thru my patterns in my computer files. Just sitting and resting from the tummy aches due to eating nuts. I didn't think pecans would be a problem Meg, we haven't seen you for a couple days I don't think. ARe you ok? CJ, I do want to make some of those pillowcases too. And a rollup for my crochet hooks would be a good thing to have too. I usually just put them in pencil cases that I get marked down after school starts each year. Ok now I'm going to go and get the yarn together for my next two projects...maybe three so that I have one to pick up when I feel like crocheting. Once I get these done I can make bracelets. I did order some of the #10 thread last night. Herrschner's is having a special today.. 17 cents for all shipping. Of course I had to order a couple other things too My craft room is going to look like a hoarder lives here.

happy saint paddy's day evening, been a busy day. started out with my sleep clinic appt. ericka said the machine is doing what it is suppose to and I am doing well. we talked about a smaller mask. amazing how much info they get off that chip when they put it in the puter.
came home and then went for lunch. did some bumin. then the chiro did some more bumin. think were in for the night.
remember the purse story from wednesday. I got it today. they had a extra 25 off and I had a 30% coupon I could use also. so what was 62 dollar purse I got for 20 and 64 cents. also has another coupon 30 % to use on a mark down. twins size bed embleamble. what ws 200 and got it for 89.so I think I did pretty good.
ruth after thinking about it maybe you could use a little thicker batting. I am not familiar with that one..you don't want it paper thin. also hobby lobby does have a stiffing type thing if you want it a little stiffer. that would make it stand up more. up to you.
I tried to get into the solice to see this weeks block that are done . can't seem to do it. never remember what to click on. ok pj time and knitting tonight.phyl

Good evening! CJ- thanks for the videos.....I did check out the pillowcase one. My mom had made crochet hook holders from ultra suede, that are serving me well....so sorry Joanns did not have what you were looking for! I wonder if their web site has the 12 weight thread. Oh, no Ruth! Don't remind me of Herrsheners- who I used to buy from! Well. At least you got it on sale. Phyl-glad you got that purse! And on a good sale too! I will email Meg- hope she is ok....sometimes she has trouble with this site. Ginny

Yes Meg usually emails one of us if she can't get here but maybe it's her whole computer.
Ginny, i like Herrschner's because if something is wrong with yarn or whatever you've ordered they will replace it without question. I've had several yarns that were too think inn spot or tied too many times in one skein so that I didn't have enough to complete the item the kit was for and they just sent me more yarn and said if I still didn't have enough to just let them know. I usually only order once a year when they have their free shipping deal at the end of the year. I get catalogs in the mail and sometimes look at them and have seen that at other times they have free shipping if you buy over $35 worth but I think that may be only once. I only found out about this 17 cent thing because I signed up for their email recently. It's till midnight tonight if you need to check there.
Dh is using the new vacuum right now and did just a little tiny bit of the floor and already, it has such good suction that the container is up to the "empty" mark. We're going out Monday to see if we can return the last one we bought and get other things we saw when out and didn't pick up yesterday. We never go out on weekends unless we have no choice.
Phyl, thanks again for your welcomed advise. I think that one day next week I'm going to go to the motor vehicle place to renew my registration and I'll stop at Hobby Lobby and get some thicker batting and that stiffener you're talking about. and while in that part of town I'll take books to the library to donate to their sale and to the Goodwill or wherever to donate other stuff. Dh actually threw some things away Yesterday on garbage day so while he's letting things loose I'll see if he has anything he will put in the Good will bags.
CJ, love the videos so thanks to you and to Phyl for telling us about them.
It's going to be 78 here tomorrow according to our local weather forecaster. Very unusual for here at this time of year.

Good morning! Just a short post- I did email Meg, and she is fine. Still a bit uncomfortable from her fall but she is under a doctors care for that. She has been able to knit (yay!) and is of course reading. Hopefully she will be back with us soon. Ginny

happy saturday afternoon,
we went to the logan craft show this am. ruth a lady there had those baskets. she figure out the pattern herself. she also used that stiffing. I don't think they look as good as with the batting. she did not do any quitling of the fabric. one thing with the stiffing is it is a little thicker then the fabric. when folded over some machines will sew no problem with project being thicker. then some machines don't like to go through thick sewing. not knowing what your machine can do I don't know what to tell you. try some scrap pieces with the fabric and stiffing you already have . try I folded over like the video shows the corners. that will give you an idea the thickness your machine can do. maybe some of the other girls will have some ideas looked to me like her little basket was a little off kilter..
it is cold and windy here today.don wants to wash the cars. so far the sun has not come out. phyl
