Hello Crafters Phyl - I'm sorry to hear you are not feeling well, hope the inhaler and medicine helps you get better soon. Ruth - Hope your snow goes away soon. It's been a strange winter weather-wise for my area. Ginny - Hope that you are hanging in there. Thinking of you. Meg and Sue - Hope you are doing well. I didn't get back to any work on my quilt yesterday and today I'm doing things around the house. One day this week my DB and I are going to go through a few more things of my father's and get them sorted out. After that, I told him I was done doing this for awhile or maybe for good - I'll have to see. The rest of the things are not worth much financially and that was my main concern with getting things sorted out so that all the siblings would get their share. Take care everyone!

CJ- totally agree that if the belongings are not worth much financially and no one has been begging for them then you can take a rest. You have sorted through so much of your dads stuff.
Phyl, glad you are taking care of yourself and I hope you feel better.
Ruth, so appreciate the prayers. Hope that the snow was not too much to clean up. Night all Ginny

Quiet here.....its ok, I would love to hear from each of you if you are able to post or want to. Right now, am doing pretty well. Yes I know I have difficult times ahead, as the reality of my Dh’s loss hits. We have been so busy the past 2 days that I have had little time to think.
Service was wonderful - both my Dd#1 and DSIL#1 spoke to eulogize Dh. Both gave heartfelt emotional presentations. Pastor was wonderful, as he always is, He is a humble man- not the words greatest speaker but so caring and kind. Just a blessing to me and my family. The graveside service was with full military honors. Again, so blessed and it really made a fitting tribute to Dh.
Think I am going to go try to muddle through the Jennifer Chiaverini book- Not super impressed with this one and she rehashes much from other books in the series. And the fabric came for the baby quilt I have to make. So cute and soft.....
Take care all Ginny

Phyl- its good news that you are improving. Drink lots of fluids its so important to stay hydrated when you have a cough like that to help loosen up mucus. Rest up- and if that is what you must do then so be it. There’s plenty of other times to read or quilt....Yes, good idea for you to stay home from Ash Wednesday services until you are feeling better.- in your fatigued state you could pick up something else and get even more sick.
Will keep Margie and Tom in my prayers for their safe travel.
Again, thanks for the good wishes and prayers. It means so very much to me to have such loving friends G

Hello Crafters Ginny - I'm glad to hear the service went well and it sounds like it was comforting for you and the family. How wonderful to have the full military honors - so deserved for those who served our country. I'm glad you received the material for the quilt. I just finished a book that I didn't really care for either, I was just glad to get through it. It was part of a series and I just couldn't let myself not read it. The one I've started after it is more interesting. Phyl - I'm glad that you are feeling better. Hope you can rest and then get your back helped when you feel better. I'll hope for safe travels for Margie and Tom. Ruth - Hope your weather is better and you are doing some crocheting. Meg and Sue - Hope you are crafting too. I went to my DB's house today and we went through some more of my father's things. We got them sorted out so that each sibling will get some of this group of things. Now I have 2 more boxes to mail again. I think this time I can mail them via the post office instead of UPS though. Since I was out all day I didn't get back to my quilt. I did try one of the hourglass quilt blocks last night though and it came out pretty well, even though I made a cutting error - that fortunately I was able to fix. I'm tired after being gone all day, so maybe I can get back to it tomorrow. Take care everyone!

Ginny, yes when you're kept so busy arranging everything that needs to be done in the first few days it does keep you from thinking about things. After that is all done the reality of the while situation really hits you so I'm told. I'm glad the services went well. What a great tribute to your dear hubby the full military honors were.Your pastor sounds like a wonderful person and if he isn't the world's greatest speaker he makes up for that in the great way he's able to shepherd his flock.
Phyl, I'm so glad you're feeling better already. It's good you went to instant care right away. Doing a lot of resting will help you a lot
CJ, well it sounds as if you accomplised a lot today and you sure have accomplished a lot in the last couple years sorting through everything.
I hope that Meg and Sue are doing well too and doing things they love.

Good morning,
Slept pretty well last night- which I figured was a reaction to all the activities and stress and an answer to all the prayers being said.
CJ- so glad you are making headway through your Dad’s things and getting help from your brother. Its an overwhelming task deciding who gets what, or figuring a fair way to split things up. Of course, everyone wants a special memento from someone- and for each of us that something is different. I am sure you and your Db stressed over how to divide up your dads things. Hope that the mailing process goes easily and that you are treated well at the PO. Did your taxes arrive at the IRS? (I know you had an issue with that a short while ago). I am happy for you that you got some work done on the hourglass quilt. Bet it was a big relief that you could correct for the cutting error- which can be so frustrating. Its challenging to do intricate crafting late in the day- and with all you did yesterday i do not blame you for not doing much. You will get back to the quilt when it is time.
Ruth, your insights are so good- Pastor might not be the best speaker but he is such a good shepherd and so caring. My church is truly blessed to have him. I could not figure out why Ds was dragging his feet getting to the funeral (well of course he did not want to go but we had to)- until I saw the honor guard from his workplace in church. So touching and moving. They sent Ds’s best friends at work and one of his favorite sergeants (which according to Ds they almost never send a sergeant). And that honor guard was who accompanied us to the cemetery. How are your plans coming along for your trip? Did your DGD ever give you the actual yarn she wanted for your next project for her? (Forgive me I do not remember what she asked for just remember that she wanted a specific yarn- think it was a hat).
Got an eye doctor appointment later today and I think my dear friend is coming over to check up on me. Also have to start getting ready to do my taxes. Got an appointment tomorrow late in the day, which I think I will keep. This way in case I am missing any information the tax preparer will drag me through the process and help me figure things out. He is a very kind man and has been very helpful to Dh and me in the past.
Gonna go get a walk in Ginny

Ginny, I am sending my condolences and some gentle hugs. I am so sorry to read of your news. The service sounds like it was appropriate, thoughtful and meaningful. Heartfelt caring and comfortable words are what we need at times of loss.
I'm taking a break for a while, but I will be back.

Ginny, your ds must be very appreciated and highly thought of for his coworkers to provide an honor guard. To have those that you may not even expect to visit provide something like this is just amazing and really lets you know that people care.
Sue, you will be missed and I hope that what is keeping you away for awhile is not something bad. I do know you have your hands full.
Ginny my dgd sent me a message yesterday saying that she has no idea of what yarn to get so wants me to go with her sometime to pick it out. When she originally asked me to make the hat she wanted a nice soft and fluffy hat and showed me the yarn on one of the earwarmers I took to them for Christmas. I told her what it was and how much she would need to buy so I though she would go to Walmart or Hobby Lobby and pick out a yarn that she liked and was even concerned that she would like a yarn that wasn't appropriate for a hat. Apparently she got overwhelmed with the prospect of picking yarn.So being that the weather is terrible and we still don't have the driveway cleared out from the last couple snows I'll make her hats with yarn I have here and see if she likes those. I found out that the hat she wants (well both the ones she now wants) is from a cartoon. One is Jake the dog and the other is Finn. I've never heard of either one and it kind of mystifies me that an adult man would want a cartoon character hat (I'm to make it for dgd's bf) I guess I shouldn't be surprised though because her older sister had me make her a Pokemon hat and a Nightmare before Christmas hat.
Dh and I were going to go grocery shopping today but it was horribly windy well then it started snowing and now there are whiteouts so maybe tomorrow

Hello Crafters Ginny - How nice that was for the honor guard to come to the funeral, I'm sure it helped your DS. Hope your eye appointment goes well and you can get things ready for your taxes. (I did see that both of my tax returns made it to the location.) It's sad that regular life goes on when we lose someone but I found that sometimes it helped me to keep going by doing those things. I know you'll continue to have a lot of support. Ruth - Hope your weather gets better so you can get out for your shopping. We're supposed to have a lot of wind here later today too - I guess it's those early March winds. Hope you can find a yarn that will work for your projects. Sue - Hope you are taking care of yourself and please come back when you feel up to it. Phyl - Hope you are feeling better. Meg - Hope things are going well for you. I would love to hear from you. It's a cloudy day here and we might have a thunderstorm this evening, but I'm hoping it goes north of me. It's just nice not to have to go out anywhere. I finished piecing together the hourglass blocks this morning and I'm happy with them. I put 4 hourglass blocks together into one 12 inch block. Two of them are green/white and two of them are orange/white. Now I'm ready for the March color. If I keep up with this, by the end of the year I'll have enough blocks for 4 different quilts, so that will be nice. I need to get some business papers together today so I can go out sometime this week and take care of a few things. I'm also hoping to stop by Costco and pick up one of those Chicken Pot Pies before they stop stocking them. I've heard they don't offer them in the summer, so I guess it's just a winter-time thing. Take care everyone!
