How much toilet paper does one need for a month? Some of us have chronic GI issues!

lani, LOL I can respect that! BUT do all those people stockpiling have chronic GI issues? I think not (leave for the people who will REALLY need it!) LOL I see a black market for TP, hand sanitizer, Clorox wipes, water bottles, but not soap!

A coworker makes a lot of Asian dishes and went to two Asian markets last night in Los Angeles. She said they were both all out of rice and fish sauce. So I guess there’s a black market for that stuff too!

neen, true. On the other hand, it's not like you're not going to use it all eventually. Also, I have a basement with virtually unlimited storage ability.

One of our current affairs shows busted a low-life selling toilet paper for $2000 for a bulk pack ($100 per roll), person did a runner when camera crews showed up....with even more outrageous offers online.
There is a shortage in Asia, and we don’t really know if people are selling it on the black market over there or if some started panic buying and the fear of missing out has spread to epic proportions. A few stories of store keepers being assaulted when they try and introduce limits to transactions.
Work is now keeping their stock of toilet paper under lock and key, and all tubs of sanitizer are boldly labelled “property of ______” to deter theft (and consequent disciplinary action).
It’s just madness, but sad to say, I’m sure there is worse to come.

chook, That's just crazy!! I do personal shopping as a side gig and people are crazy! I had an order for about 16-20 different types of cleaning products (Lysol and Clorox sprays and toilet bowl cleaners) and 20 packages of baby wipes. I dropped it like a hot potato because I know the store is out of most of that stuff and I am not in the mood to deal with a pissed off customer because of something out of my control.

I saw a news blurb suggesting people not travel for spring break because there could be a massive up-tick of cases a week or two after. Personally I wouldn't travel right now anyway, but some people will ignore it because "it won't happen to me" thinking.

I saw a news blurb suggesting people not travel for spring break because there could be a massive up-tick of cases a week or two after. Personally I wouldn't travel right now anyway, but some people will ignore it because "it won't happen to me" thinking. I thought it was a hoax? <----sarcasm A friend from Michigan sent me an article touting the fact that Michigan has no cases as of yet. I pointed out that Michigan is using the old and widely criticized criteria for testing that the CDC originally required for allowing a person to be tested: "The state will only accept specimens that meet CDC criteria. Fever or lower respiratory illness (coughing, shortness of breath) AND travel history to Hubei Province within 14 days of symptom onset. Fever or lower respiratory illness (coughing, shortness of breath) AND travel history to mainland China within 14 days of symptom onset. Fever or lower respiratory illness (coughing, shortness of breath) AND exposure to a laboratory-confirmed 2019 Novel Coronavirus case." So unless you have a history of travel to China or exposure to a lab-confirmed case of COVID-19 they won't even test you no matter what your symptoms are. Happy happy joy joy---Michigan is clear! www.clickondetroit.com/health/2020/03/06/coronavirus-latest-testing-monitoring-numbers-in-michigan/

First case in Connecticut. The governor is holding a press conference right now. This one was a hospital employee. I think he/she worked at the hospital where I do volunteer work. I work in an office away from the patient floors. Will wait for updates to figure out when I stop going to the hospital. I'm in my 70's and my husband is in his 60's and he smoked for 40 years before quitting 10 years ago so we are a little concerned about how hard it will hit us. I think we will get the virus. Don't have enough food to hibernate for six months, even then who knows if or when this will go away.
My husband was going on a trip to Texas at the end of the month and he decided today to cancel it. We are supposed to go to the city overnight on the 20th because we have tickets for a concert at Carnegie Hall but right now I'm in favor of not going.
Heard "she" is a resident of New York and was infected in New York. She was working in two hospitals in Connecticut.

Even though Travis County hasn't had a single confirmed case of the virus Austin cancelled South by Southwest that was set to begin on 3/13.I am glad they cancelled it because people come from all over the world. However they just cancelled a big event at the University of TX which was scheduled tomorrow.I do know there has been 6 people confirmed with the virus in TX but none of them in Central TX.

Just got a message from my WW Leader, WW are now asking that if you have recently travelled from China, Korea or Iran, then please stay away from meetings for the 2 weeks.
Has this ever happened before?
