Turns out we have a confirmed case here in TN now in Williamson County which is just outside Nashville. The man had recently attended a conference in Boston. He is 44, and seems to have a mild case. He is quarantined at home.

So Rand Paul was the sole "no" vote on the $8.3 billion coronavirus response package. He wanted to politicize it. I hope voters keep that in mind. By politicize, I mean he wanted to "use foreign aid to pay for it" so he voted no. For an emergency. Because he wants the $$ to be cut from foreign aid. Disgraceful. nashville11, they have 3 cases fairly local: 1 in Fort Bend county and 2 new ones in Harris county just an hour or so ago. The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo is in full swing, tens of thousands of people daily from all around the world.

Good morning! I caught just a brief portion of Rachel's interview with Elizabeth Warren last night, but I did hear her say that she was not ready to announce who or if she would endorse anyone at least not last night. So we'll see what she does. My guess is she'll endorse Bernie, but she might not. She keeps saying they are friends, but I think the incident about whether or not he said a woman couldn't win is a big thorn for her.
It's gorgeous here, but cooler than yesterday by about 14 degrees. Still it's in the low 50s, daffodils are blooming and so are Bradford pears and wisteria. Those of you not seeing any signs of spring yet come on down. You better come fast though. Once again rain is predicted for everyday next week. (sigh)

I love daffodils. That is one thing that I just didn't have luck with. Not sure if it was our long winters or what. Tulips I can grow, but not daffodils. I love a blue mason jar filled with daffodils sitting by kitchen sink. I usually just buy them at the grocery store if they have them. We are suppose to hit 61 above today. Still snow on the ground, but it will start melting quickly before we get another snow storm, LOL.
Trump said "Elizabeth Warren is a mean person". "You need someone like me who isn't mean!".......I kid you not....LOL The irony of that statement alone is so obvious . LOL

@lka48, *snort* yeah, he's not mean (or nasty, or have the temperment of a schoolyard bully - not at all!)
I'm thinking Warren is holding out for the highest bidder, meaning whoever offers her a spot on the ticket.

Rand Paul needs to burn in Hell. He's almost worse than you-know-who because he has a functioning brain.

Joyce, I love Wisteria. We have Wisteria growing in the back yard. Way, way back but you can smell it as soon as you walk out the back door. Ours isn't out yet, but your post made me smile just thinking about it. The fragrance is intoxicating. I can't get enough of it. Thank you. I need to focus on all the beauty in my life instead of the insanity, stupidity, and cruelty going on out there. Ah, Wisteria. lol.
Lani, Rand Paul is Hell! He's another one that makes me gag each time I see his twisted face.
Linda, lol! He's such an idiot. I wonder if he actually believes he's a nice guy? He's so delusional he probably does. He already thinks he's the most wonderful thing on Earth so he probably really does believe he's the greatest.
One day. I ask for just one day without his stupid face on tv.

I wonder what is going on behind the scenes between the DNC and candidates and why they decide to drop out when they do. Why did Mayor Pete drop out so early when he already had lots of early votes for Super Tuesday? Warren may have spoiled things for Bernie by not dropping out sooner. I don't follow super closely (sometimes life gets in the way and is more fun than watching/reading news) - a lot is a mystery to me, but sure is interesting. If anyone has insights to share, please do! I will vote for whomever is the candidate but I think it's a big conundrum as to who can beat Trump. Bernie and Biden both have baggage that Trump will use against them. Will money be a huge factor and is Biden getting more $$ coming in now? Bernie's crowds at his events have gotten much more of a groundswell of support than Biden's. But now that Biden is the front runner maybe that will change. I get it that so many voters want calmness, a change towards less divisiveness, and NOT a revolution.
Coronavirus preparedness - I have more Gatorade on hand, and more soups, beans, and peanut butter. Without getting crazy I want to make sure we have enough food on hand for quarantining if needed. That's also a great idea for power outage preparation.
I'm planning to watch Elizabeth Warren's interview with Rachel Maddow when I hop on my stationary bike today.
Here's another question if anyone knows - can any candidates give their delegate votes to another candidate after they drop out? Thought I read that somewhere.
And why is Tulsi Gabbard still in the race - making some kind of statement??
I need to make a cheat sheet with all of your usernames, real names, and locations! Who is Jason - a grandson? Child or adult? Sorry I don't know.

conniefromct, I did a little googling and the delegates of dropped-out candidates will only matter if the Democratic convention is contested, i.e. no single candidate gets the 1991 pledged delegates necessary for the nomination. If that happens pledged delegates (to the dropped out) can cast their ballots for whoever they want, but they get fewer delegates than if their candidate had stayed in. It gets complicated. You can google if you want more detail. I just typed in "democratic delegates in contested convention". The Politico article had the most detail. Joe will definitely get money and organization. Bloomberg will more than likely form a superpac then he can divert a ton of $ to Joe's campaign. The dropped out candidates will transistion their organizations to work for Joe. Pete only won in the first primary and it was such a mess no one really wanted to count it. Everyone else did so poorly after that and Joe blew out South Carolina, showing his strength with the black vote, that the rest decided to put their energy into the candidate whose philosophy most closely matched their own and who had a chance to win. Bernie scares too many people. He needs the young vote and they are notorious about not coming out in numbers. Even if he were to win, the thinking is there would be a huge backlash in upcoming congressional elections, jeopardizing the Democratic majority in the House, and losing more seats in the Senate. This is all just my opinion, after the first paragraph.

I was wrong, mis-read the crawl on CNN. The man was executed. I am fixing what I posted below. I originally posted that he was not executed.
In other news, the inmate scheduled for execution this morning in Alabama did not get a stay from the SCOTUS. He did not kill the police officers in the crime involved; a man who was at his house did, who confessed. This executed man was under arrest and detained by police at the time of the shooting. The theory prosecutors put forth was that the home owner conspired with the shooter to lure the officers to his home and that he knew the other man was going to try to kill them. The shooter testified that this was not so.
BTW, the shooter remains on death row. I haven't seen any explanation why this other poor dude got scheduled for execution before the actual shooter. Who knows?

conniefromct, I have a pantry full of tuna, rice, beans, things like that so we'd be ok not venturing out for several weeks if needed, but I'd miss my fresh veggies. lani, I'd have loved to see a Pete+Warren ticket, but I guess the country isn't ready for genuine people to run it.

lani , Thanks for the answer about the pledged delegates. Everyone - about Bernie scaring people, I think some of his problem is his strategy - calling himself a Democratic socialist mainly. It seems to me that label mainly bothers the older voters who don’t differentiate between a democracy having some socialist policies and a government that’s a communist regime. We need government involved in so many areas for the good of all of us, and of course it is already. How many voters really check out candidates’ websites? We hear trillions of dollars and just think, whoa, my taxes are high enough already! I saw something recently on Facebook that really hit me and rang true. “Politics is your morals in action. It boils down to how you think others should be treated.” I’d be more than willing to pay more in taxes if I knew government had fair policies in place to help everyone - universal single-payer health insurance, medical and family paid leave, help for long-term care costs, universal child care and preschool, policies to end homelessness, etc. I hear friends talk about not going to the doctor because of exorbitant co-pays. I heard about a study about the huge number of people who die because they didn’t get to a doctor soon enough. How many people right now will go to work sick because they can’t afford to take time off from work or are worried about losing their jobs? That puts all of us at risk. Of course, no one wants to work hard, practice fiscal responsibility, and then see capable people unwilling to work get handouts. But I do think many people who are doing OK don’t want anything to change because they’re afraid it will effect their own pocketbook and not help them, too. Enough rambling from me!

conniefromct....Jason is our 51 year old son. My DH & I are his caregivers as he lives at home with us. He has Special Needs because of Epilepsy. He seizures daily & has since he was 2 & 1/2 years old. Over the years the seizures have taken a toll on his mental abilities, etc. He attends ABLE, INC ( acquiring basic skills for living & employment) He goes there 5 days a week for about 6 hours per day. Gives DH & I a break & Jason can socialize & work. ABLE has a store that sells all the products they make at ABLE such as quilts, rugs, recycle grocery bags, & lots of other cute crafty things. Jason's job is to cut buttons off recycled clothes & they are then sold at local thrift store. They also recycle aluminum cans at ABLE. Everyone has a job, and everyone earns a paycheck. We are so fortunate to have ABLE here in our small community. A day program was started by parents, myself included, some 35 years ago & it has evolved into ABLE. There are about 25 employees & many staff members at ABLE. Most of the employees live in assisted living apartments with help. Because of Jason's medical problems we have just felt we could care for him at home for as long as we are able. .........That is probably way more than you wanted to know...LOL...:-) Jason is featured in an ABLE newsletter on this link...he is in the first newsletter...the guy with no hair & the pretty aide... www.ableinc.net/news/The ABLE store is called Repeat Outlet. This will probably sound more critical than I mean it too, but why have Bill & Hillary come out with Documentary now? Its like they always have to be in the headlines & why now when we should be concentrating on Democratic nomination, etc. She more than likely would have been a good President, & I did vote for her, but they both come with so much baggage, that you would think, just let sleeping dogs lie & move on. It just gives fuel to the Republicans, more negative headlines to Democratic Party, etc. I guess, I just wish they would fade into the background or else stay away from the personal stuff & concentrate more on issues to help the Democrats......
