One day. I ask for just one day without his stupid face on tv. What an amazing gift that would be! Sorry but I misspoke about the wisteria. I need Linda's green thumb and plant knowledge. It's forsythia that we have blooming. Very pretty!

Ok, answer me this...why doesn't Tuna fish taste like tuna of my childhood memories. Is it just me or has tuna changed over the years. My Mom used to make the best tuna sandwiches. Over the years I just can't get tuna to taste like a good old fashioned tuna sandwich. Is it because its not packed in oil anymore or what? Makes me sad. I loved tuna sandwiches & everytime I make one I'm disappointed. Any suggestions....

I don't know the answer to that one, Linda. I'm guessing that as you suggested it might have to do with the fact that it's usually packed in water now instead of oil. I'm not a big tuna fan, so don't have it very often. Now that you bring it up though, my mom did make really good tuna fish sandwiches when I was a kid. I hadn't thought about them in a long time. Now one sounds like it would taste very good. Maybe the reason I'm not a tuna fan is because it doesn't taste the same as it did when I was a kid. Another thing my mom made that was really good was pimento cheese for sandwiches or to spread on crackers. Does anyone else like that or is it jut a southern thing?

Linda, nothing tastes the same to me anymore. I know how you feel. Yesterday I bought a loaf of Irish soda bread. It was always so moist, soft, and sweet. Not this time. It was dry and flavorless. I gave it to the birds. That's not necessarily a bad thing because I am capable of finishing the whole loaf when it's delicious. Have you tried different brands? Do you add anything like relish, onions, celery, Goya? Do you use mayonnaise or miracle whip? I knew a guy who worked in a deli and he told me the tuna you get in the deli isn't all tuna it has cod added. The only cod in our house is in a can of Fancy Feast cat food and I've never seen cod in a deli. Then again I never really looked for it. Maybe add a little oil? Now I'm hankering for a tuna fish sandwich. Should I make enough for all of us? Linda, I hope you are able to find and enjoy the tuna you remember. Did you try Googling it? Of course, you'll get over a hundred different recipes that way. lol. Joyce, we like pimento cheese on crackers. I've never had it on a sandwich but it would probably be good on a tuna fish sandwich.

Safecatch or Wild Planet in water tunas taste the best, to me. Also Genova Yellowfin Tuna in Olive Oil has a real strong tuna flavor, really stands up to mayo and other strong tuna salad ingredients

Linda, thank you for sharing about your dear son. I was very interested to read all you wrote and I took a look at the newsletter with his photo. What a wonderful organization! Do you have other children - anyone to help with his needs if you want to plan a getaway?
I love daffodils too. I have silk ones I’ll put in a blue vase on my kitchen windowsill soon, and hundreds of real ones out in my yard your climate that prevents success with them. You could try them on the south side of your home maybe.
Joyce, I’m with you on not putting things off. My husband is 77 and we signed up for a little trip to Maine in June, but we will have to see how things are with the virus by then. And talk to his leukemia doc about precautions we need to be aware of. We’ve never done a cruise, but in years past we went to the Caribbean many times. I do miss it but we do closer-to-home driving trips now. And only one night away since he was diagnosed. Home is good too. His favorite saying - “Change is the most permanent thing.”
I’m not a big tuna fan so no opinions or memories! LOL

conniefromct , where do you go when you go to Maine? I've never been to Maine, but it is on my bucket list. I have a couple of online friends who live in the Portland area. As for travel, I guess it's a wait and see how things develop plan for us right now. It's hard to know what to do. The first decision we'll have to make will be coming up soon, as we're supposed to visit DH's brother and sister-in-law in Utah in April. They live in St George, UT which is not far from Las Vegas so we'll actually be flying into and out of Las Vegas, and as our flight gets in late we'll be spending one night there. We're scheduled to go on April 20. We were discussing today whether or not we should cancel, but will just wait and see how the situation develops between now and then. We got a "cheap" flight, so of course no refund if we cancel. (JA said it was going to all be over by April, right? LOL!) Linda, thanks for sharing the link for Jason and his ABLE organization. amyrs, I just got through microwaving some Velveeta Shells & Cheese for my DGD. She's addicted to the stuff I think. She's tiny and that's about the only thing she will really eat. I figure her mom can worry about getting healthy stuff into her. When she's at my house she (and her brother) get what they want. That's what grandmas are for.

Well c_ap! This doesn't sound good. www.cnn.com/2020/03/06/health/coronavirus-older-people-social-distancing/index.html"Amid a coronavirus outbreak in the United States, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is encouraging older people and people with severe chronic medical conditions to "stay at home as much as possible." . . . "The CDC guidance comes as two top infectious disease experts with ties to the federal government have advised people over 60 and those with underlying health problems to strongly consider avoiding activities that involve large crowds, such as traveling by airplane, going to movie theaters or concerts, attending family events, shopping at crowded malls, and going to religious services. Dr. William Schaffner, a Vanderbilt University professor and longtime adviser to the CDC, said these two groups should strongly consider avoiding activities that involve large crowds, such as traveling by airplane, going to movie theaters, attending family events, shopping at crowded malls, and going to religious services." . . . "This ought to be top of mind for people over 60, and those with underlying health problems, such as heart or lung disease, diabetes, or compromised immune systems," Schaffner added. "The single most important thing you can do to avoid the virus is reduce your face to face contact with people."

So long Mick Mulvaney. Don't let the door hit you on the way out. Did you really think he would have any loyalty toward you? With him it's always a one way street.

Trump calls Inslee a 'snake' amid coronavirus outbreak in Washington state ...and told Pence to not be nice to Governor Inslee I know I said I'm no longer surprised by anything that comes out of his mouth - but I was wrong. Re Mulvaney's replacement - Meadows is a Congressman. Will he give up his seat, do double duty, or what? No one asks these questions. At least I haven't seen it addressed yet. 'Course I haven't turned on CNN yet; they will probably get around to it.

Re Mulvaney's replacement - Meadows is a Congressman. Will he give up his seat, do double duty, or what? No one asks these questions. At least I haven't seen it addressed yet. 'Course I haven't turned on CNN yet; they will probably get around to it. He's not seeking re-election to Congress. I guess he already knew this was in the works. Now for the question of can Democrats switch that seat from red to blue. According to this article there were 12 candidates running in the primary for that seat. None got more than 30% of the vote, so there will be a run-off between the top two. So maybe there's a chance there? Enough to give us hope? www.wfae.org/post/nc-republicans-dont-yet-have-nominee-run-mark-meadows-seat#stream/0
