I was super busy yesterday so never even got to post anything. Phyl, yes that definitely is an expensive ruler. I wouoldn't buy it either. For someone that quilts constantly and maybe in competitions they might need something like that.cro Ginny, it sounds like your day was full with lots to do then family for dinner and babysitting. I'm glad you got a chance to do a row on the blanket. I remember when I was working on that one I had problems too which mostly had to do with forgetting that one stitch and forgetting to do the stitches in the back loop. It's a beautiful blanket and I'd love to finish mine if I only had time . I have another request. This one from my second youngest dgs who is 6. He wondered if I knew how to make "cool boy" things such as a sheath for his sword or the chicken from the Moana movie whatever that is, or Scrat from Ice Age. I'll start with the sword sheath. This is, despite my complaining above, much more fun to do things the grands request than a baby blanket when, as far as I know, there are no babies expected in the family right now. However I've been seeing lots of baby blankets being posted in the crochet groups and really have an urge to work on one. Today is work on the garage day because we need to put some things in there before our trip.

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today It was cold and windy here today, but sunny. Hope your weather is good. I spent some time this morning going through the clothes in my closet. Many of them don't fit right now, unfortunately they are too tight after I gained some weight back. I packed them away so now I have a better idea of what clothes actually fit me. I didn't get to any quilting today, maybe I will tomorrow or later this evening. I'm not really ready for the time to change, but I know the different daylight hours help a lot of people. I wish they would just leave the time the same all year. Hope you are all getting some crafting in, or spending some time relaxing. Take care!

CJ, sorry to hear that your clothes are too tight but you're right in putting them away temporarily. Leaving them hanging will just discourage you and keep you from finding the clothes that you can wear.
It was nice and warm here today and very little wind and this coming week is not to be too awfully cold.
I worked in the garage then dh got up and decided he wanted to find something that he thought was behind some chipboard and wallboard that was leaning against a wall so he moved all that and found what he was looking for THEN sprayed bleach water around when he was done. He usually does it before he starts and is always after me to do the same due to the possibility that mice may have run over the floor out there. I never do it because it's very drafty and open out there so I don't think there's any danger of Hanta virus which is what he worries about. He's a fanatic.

evening, we did some bumin today.
I wanted some maroon fabric. the quilt shop (sew day one ) did not have any.
so off to hobby lobby.I noticed regular signs up,nothing about 30% off.so I asked the cutter. she said now they are offering 40% off at different times. that store is changing. wonder how many customers might get mad?
wonder if they are in trouble.
I did get my fabric. only needed about a fat quarter size. not many stores will cut a fat quarter. only got half a yard.
I did get five sets of 3 jelly roll strips sew together. that will be enough for learning the blocks
have a good evening. phyl

Phyl, There is like a plastic backing that you can cut to size to put on the back of your rulers so they don’t slip, have you ever tried that? Glad you were able to get your fabric at the hobby lobby.
Ruth, sounds like you’re getting awfully busy with final preparations for your trip. I hope that when you do go you have good traveling weather and that it’s a very pleasant journey. Such a busy time for you.
CJ, yes a good idea to put those clothes away. With a nice weather coming you’ll get back into them, you took away off once before and you can do that again. I look forward to hearing if you find something really cool tomorrow and slow stitch Sunday!
Had our youngest daughter here today for most of the day. She’s just such a joy to be with and I’m glad we were able to share the time together. Got a nice walk in with her. Heading to church tomorrow morning and then I hope to spend some quiet time getting some thank you notes written and perhaps a little bit of work on the quilt. Good night all

Well, got no crafting done yesterday. I’ll be heading to church in a bit and hope that when I get home I can go for a walk and enjoy a somewhat quiet day.. Tomorrow I start babysitting again. And we shifted to daylight savings time- which I am not a big fan of as I dislike losing an hour of sleep. BBL Ginny

Hello Crafters Phyl - I'm glad you were able to get your fabric and have some of your strip sets sewn together. Ruth - I'm sure you are looking forward to some milder weather. Sounds like you are making progress in getting things ready for the trip. Ginny - I hope you enjoy today and get to relax before the babysitting starts again. Meg and Sue - Hope you are doing well. It's a sunny day here and I think it's pretty mild. I haven't been outside, so I'm not sure I do need to take out the trash and put out some birdseed so I'll see how it is then. I checked out the blogs on Slow Sunday Stitching but didn't see anything that really stood out to me. Of course there are lots of wonderful projects people are working on and I enjoy reading some of the stories about what is going on in their lives. Several of them post some really pretty pictures sometimes too. I haven't gotten back to any quilting, maybe this week I can work on some other projects. I have been reading and enjoying the books I've read recently, more than those from last month. I decided to track and see how many books I read this year, just for fun - so far this year I've read 24 books. It might sound like a lot but many of the books I read are pretty short and have an average reading time of about 4 hours - but I spread it over a few days usually. Hope you all are having a good day. Take care!

Goodmorning all.I forgot when I got up that it's an hour later now so I really slept in. It will mess up my day. Our state senate has voted to keep our state in daylight saving time year round. I don't know if it will actually be put into law or what the process is now to implement that.
I did get in some crocheting yesterday after another day that involved garage work. I worked on the one grandaughters hat that she req for her bf. I hate doing the finishing work but really need to get those two hats done today. So lots of sewing on of parts today and I'll force myself to get it done. I also started a hat that's a bean stitch hat but it sure looks just like the pufft stitch to me only smaller puffs. The puff stitch is the one youngest grandaughter requested and this bean stitch is just as easy and fast...faster actually than the regular puff stitch. So that's what I'll be doing today with some chores mixed in.

Ruth, so you are making the bean stitch hat instead of puff stitch? Of course Dgd will not know the difference a great substitution in my book. So glad you got some crocheting time in- as I am sure that garage time was not really what you wanted to be doing. Its much more fun to crochet pretty hats and scarves instead of straightening up a mini hardware store.
CJ- gee you have read a lot of books- but as you said, if they are short, then the number is deceiving. I forget, are you an audible book person or do you like to actually read them on a kindle? I am one of those old school book type people- and like to hold a book in my hands. If you have Audible (through Amazon) I got a recommendation from another friend on a book - think it was Queen Elizabeth II a modern queen. My friend said it did a wonderful job of explaining how the queen has evolved into the woman she is today. For me, its unfortunate as I do not use Audible (and the book is only available through them). But I thought that maybe you might be able to access it and enjoy it.
I ironed the quilt top and backing and now its all up to me to get it to the guild meeting on tuesday and get it to the long armer. I should be a bit more excited than I am- of course my lack of enthusiasm is understandable. I do know that I need to get this quilted and ultimately doing that will make me feel better. So that was my crafting for the day- a good 3 hours of ironing.Hard to believe that tomorrow is Monday. Back to babysitting.
Take care all Ginny

CJ, I used to be an avid reader and could read that many books also but I haven't been reading much since I started crocheting more. I too prefer a hold in your hand book but now that I'm too lazy to go to the library I read online. Not a kindle but something called Cloud Reader and also Overdrive but Cloud is better.
Ginny, that's a LOT of ironing! Now you have your part all done, take it to the long armer and you have a completed quilt. When you did that rail fence quilt that you had posted as your avatar a couple years ago did you have a long armer quilt that one too? I remember that it was a beautiful quilt. I did do the puff stitch hat first then last night started the bean stitch one.
Well I finally bit the bullet and started the afgan. I started it first in the wrong color but I just had the chain done and one brick stitch so I wasn't losing much by ripping that out and starting with the other color. If I had been further along in it I would have just revised my colors.I'm not very far even now but I do have a whole row completed. It's actually a very easy afgan even with changing colors. The way the designer wrote the pattern you end each color at the end of the part that uses it. That would be way too many ends for me to weave in so I changed it so that I don't have to do any dropping of colors to weave in later...well except for the beginning and ending threads of course. Now to work on it for the evening. I can't believe it's almost 5 already. The first 10 rows is very repetitious then after that come the color changes which is no big deal.

I read all my books on my Kindle Fire. I do love "real" books but they just take up too much room in the house, since I have trouble getting rid of them. And with the Kindle's now it's really easy to buy and book and it's available to read right away - no going out to buy it from the very few places that still sell books.
