- Look at your eating plan, is there anything that you could cut to save 2-3 PP a day? I've cut back to one soda, and I've been drinking so much water lately (and actually have been enjoying it) that I could see having a few days with no soda. I've also toyed around with having one meal a day of 'only' fruits and vegetables. I definitely don't get enough fruits and vegetables, so the other day I just ate carrots and celery with dip, salsa with a few chips, and grapes. It was very satisfying, so I think it's reasonable to do meals like that, salad, fruit salad, fruit with peanut butter or crackers. That's a small change I want to do for my health.
- What are some activities you could do to increase your steps by about 2,000? When I was a good girl, and wearing my pedometer, I noticed that a 30 minute walk with the dog was enough to get 2K. And when I was at my lowest weight on PointsPlus, I was doing an hour walk a day. I'm going to start wearing my pedometer again.
- What is one change you'd like to become a habit? How can you create a cue to remind you to do it? Having water with every meal and snack. I'm going to put my water glass on the table at my seat, so it reminds me to refill it (or get a new glass) every time I sit down to eat.
This Week’s Routine: (6) Eat all your meals at a table. I am doing great at this!
GHG of the Week: 2 servings of low-fat or fat-free dairy products (ex. 1 cup milk or yogurt, 1 1/2 ounces cheese) I'm really into milk. Easy one.
What are you having for dinner? This week we're having homemade cheeseburgers, homemade pizza, stuffed bell peppers, hot dogs, chicken parmesan, spaghetti, and one takeout meal. Cooking 'fast food' items at home is cheap, easy, and healthy. We also make some divine chicken tenders and turkey tacos (on the menu for next week) so if you haven't tried it - highly recommended.

Lost the plot for a few days but found my way again
I remember doing the CHANGE ONE DIET for awhile. It was balanced and rather exchange/calorie based but the premise was to change one meal and make it healthy and do that each week + change snacks and then going out tips and such...can't remember how many weeks but within a month the idea was that one would be on a healthy diet and it would be a habit. I wonder if I still have that book or someone borrowed or tossed it out?
- Look at your eating plan, is there anything that you could cut to save 2-3 PP a day? Always...but as I don't have a set meal plan it is easier to just write down before eating what I eat then stop when I hit the targeted number of points for the day
- What are some activities you could do to increase your steps by about 2,000? I don't wear a step monitor so have no idea. My goal at the moment is to walk 15 minutes, sit at the computer 45 minutes to an hour then get up and walk 15 more minutes. I plan to increase to three 15 minute walks then do two 20 minute walks and build up. I have a trip in July that will require a LOT of walking so there is more incentive than there has been in past month
- What is one change you'd like to become a habit? How can you create a cue to remind you to do it? I want to make sure I get in balanced meals...having the journal on the table where I can see it and then marking off food groups at each meal helps This Week’s Routine: (6) Eat all your meals at a table. Okay..usually do this...
GHG of the Week: 2 servings of low-fat or fat-free dairy products (ex. 1 cup milk or yogurt, 1 1/2 ounces cheese) I have added dairy back in when I stopped being vegan. I still don't eat meat/chicken but might add that in again, too, since I feel better with more protein from the dairy and eggs.
What are you having for dinner?
Not sure...we might have makhlouta (mixed beans and grains) with wild edible greens from the garden OR there is hummus and that could be in a wrap with greens and tomatoes and onions...never seem to plan ahead

- Look at your eating plan, is there anything that you could cut to save 2-3 PP a day? There's plenty of places I could cut that many PP & I need to start doing it. I have been completely unmotivated lately.
- What are some activities you could do to increase your steps by about 2,000? During PP days, they suggested getting off the couch at least 5 minutes every hour. When I did that, I'd start on a task & end up doing longer than 5 minutes. It's amazing how many steps that can add to your day. Another idea is if you're watching TV, get up during the commercials & walk around.
- What is one change you'd like to become a habit? How can you create a cue to remind you to do it? I need to get back to tracking. The tracker is in a drawer right now so that needs to be put out on my counter.
-What are you having for dinner? Stuffed shells with salad, Rotisserie chicken with potato salad & green beans, taco salad, grilled cheese with soup & salad, baked fish (side dishes TBD).

I had to look up makhlouta. It definitely looks like something my son would enjoy. The couple recipes I saw used only cumin as the spice. Is that what you use in your recipe?

No matter how you spell it or what you put into it the idea is mixed beans and grains. I buy a bag from a big-bag shop and she pre-mixes all sorts of beans and grains. I soak overnight then cook till all the beans are doe. I usually fry an onion till golden then toss in some minced garlic, chop up some carrots and potatoes then boil it all together. Since the beans won't cook if salt is added I season later. My husband doesn't like cumin or hot peppers but I think it would taste good with either or both. My husband liked to add lemon juice to his bowl and I usually add hot sauce or catsup and sometimes wonder what it would taste like with tomatoes or tomato sauce. I think you could use any beans and any grains and seasonings you wanted to...kind of like a 9 bean soup with grains added in.
This recipe is similar to what I do but I don't use as much oil and don't use coconut oil...just olive oil pressed from our own olive trees.

Thanks for the info. I definitely want to try this. The one recipe I bookmarked used a couple tablespoons of tomato paste. My son would love adding hot sauce to his portion. It looks like one of those recipes that's flexible.
