There's ground fog this morning. Eerie but beautiful! I took a few pictures when I let out the dogs. Then I made a cup of coffee to bring back to bed.
We had a little more snow.
The cat block is cute! I would love to see it in some of Laurel Burch's colorful designs I still have some of her earrings from more than thirty years ago as well as a mug with playful colorful dogs.
As I think about the day, I have nothing in particular planned. This could be a good day for laundry! Or driving around the block!

Sue, we did get snow during the night last night. We had missed the snow you had yesterday. I know it happens here all the time but it still amazes me how it can be close to 60 for several days in a row then snow again. I guess this is about our 3rd winter this year . Yes getting out to just drive around the block is a good idea. I was going to drive dh out to the nearest reservoir but now it's snowy but melting as it's 40 out. It's not melting very fast though. CJ, the cat table runner is going to be great. Ginny, even though I don't care at all for Cuomo I've been impressed with his actions and his behavior for a change. He actually is supporting the president's efforts and is even thanking him. And he's so right about the virus. It's not a joke and some people just can't seem to take it seriously. It will take a tragedy in some people's families for them to understand the seriousness of taking the prescribed percautions.I haven't been out of my house in two weeks today. Some people do have things they absolutely have to do but grocery shopped every three or four days? Guess I'll get back to working on the afgan.

It will be two weeks for me tomorrow since I've gone anywhere else other than outside in the driveway, about 300 yards down the street or on the back deck. The last time my groceries were delivered was last Friday. I'm okay for another week or 2 or 3 or 4. If J the caregiver who isn't working inside my house anymore is still well, I'll probably have him pick up some things like vegetables and milk next week. As long as he is willing, I will probably have him do that and leave things outside for me, then use the garage as a multi step decontamination chamber.
Cuomo is looking very very good. I don't know much about him, but he's organized, to the point and is a brilliant tactician who is able to think outside the box and days ahead of the curve. I'll bet he's impossible to live with! I did look up information about him doesn't mesh with what I'm observing. In a crisis, he's tops.
NYC is in a real mess. I asked DD if they wanted to come here. The duplex unit I spent all the time and money on last year is going to be empty again. The first tenant got sick. This one is in rehab in another state. Two unusual circumstances in less than a year is not what I had in mind! My property manager has already found someone to rent it. DD said she thought it would be safer to stay put with an established safety plan rather than travel for three days. She's probably correct, but I wanted them to have an option if they wanted one. There will be other possibilities if they change their minds.

Good morning,
Yes driving around the block is a lovely idea, and perhaps I will do that just to get my car out. I took the spare car out on Saturday. Guess it’s time to take the other car out.
Sue, well I sure can appreciate your desire to have Dd come stay with you. I guess I agree with Dd regarding staying in the city and I am sure she is intelligent enough (takes after her mom!) to know how to properly isolate herself and take care of herself. travelling from NY to the upper Midwest would cause all sorts of exposures that you have no control over. Probably best to shelter in place. Glad you have such a nice delivery system for groceries and can keep yourself and your Dh safe.
Ruth-I saw a news segment this am on people learning how to cook for the first time. Think in the large cities, they do take out for everything and only keep a small amount of food in house for immediate consumption. For someone like you who cooks a lot, that seems an alien thought- not knowing how to cook.
Ds went to the grocery store yesterday and picked up a few items. I can go another week without having to go to the store, actually longer, but I will be out of bananas and salad, Got plenty of frozen and canned fruits and veggies so it is not the end of the world for sure.
Governor Cuomo has done a wonderful job of handling this crisis. I am impressed by his ability to think outside the box - actually FOR ONCE work with others and effectively get things done. But I must say he is an arrogant monster (remember I live in his state) and is unable to comprehend any ideas other than his own. Apparently, when its in state matters only, King Andrew always gets what he wants. He has wasted his time on completely dumb laws, wasted the taxpayers money to have a bridge renamed after his deceased father (and stripping that bridge of its historical name which represented the real history of this section of the state), and then wasted even more money to have the signs repainted because they did not put his fathers middle initial on the recently replaced signs. I can go on and on......but for now, will say that he is trying his best to do a good job for the state and the people. Hopefully he is setting a good example for others ( I am a little bit shocked by the lack of leadership coming out of the state of Florida) on how to try to fight this monster virus.
time for a shower. Sorry for my rant Ginny

Yes your daughter may be safer where she is if she has the things she needs and doesn't have to go out. Traveling across country is not something I wanted to do either which is why I'm still here.
Yes I've been impressed at how Cuomo has handled this situation but that's not how he normally handles things. Hopefully when this is over he will not go back to his former ways.
I don't know what the temp is out today but it looks like a beautiful day with no snow in the night. I did drive one of our vehicles around the block the other day and now have another that needs to be run
Ginny, I've even heard that some NYC apartments don't even have a kitchen or kitchenette because of so many relying on delivery or takeout

Hello Crafters There sure are lots of tough decisions we, and our families, are having to make during this crisis. I'm wondering if my lawn guy will show up in April and if he doesn't what I'm going to do about getting my grass cut. I still have enough food for several weeks, but I'm wondering if I wait that long to go shopping will there be less food in the stores, or will they be stocked? There's just no way to know. I'm going to hold off until at least next week to get any more groceries and hope things are better. I went outside this morning and finally cut back the two ornamental grasses that I have. I also cut up some old branches I had cut off a tree in the fall and I bagged up all of these cuttings for the next pickup. We have to put them in the large brown paper bags or they won't pick them up. While I was outside I cleaned out the stairwell to my basement where there is a drain and sprayed some weed killer in the driveway cracks where weeds were coming up. I really need to get the whole driveway (it's blacktop) repaved. And I got my mail from yesterday, I'd left it in the box. I put in it a plastic bag at the mailbox and then when I came inside the back door I opened it and separated the trash from the shredding, threw out the trash, washed my hands then did the shredding and then washed my hands again. I guess that's the best I can do to deal with the mail. I also started both of my cars this morning, but didn't move them. My old car (2004) has the computer resetting each time I turn it off since when I get back in it the clock says 1200. This is the car I just need to sell and get rid of. It's not worth much with all the problems it has. I just like having two cars sitting in the driveway to make it look like there is more than one person living here. I haven't gotten back to my cat quilt, but hope to work on it soon. At least I'm getting some things done around the house, so there's that Take care everyone and I hope you and your families stay well.

CJ, I'm glad to hear that your yard person showed up. I know that's a big concern that's now off your mind. These days we have enough to be concerned about.
I just started the fifth row around my whole afgan and it looks to me as though six rows is going to be perfect. So I'll try to get this and the next row done today and maybe put off weaving ends until tomorrow then the afgan will be done and I can move on to something else.
We have a couple more cases in our county. This brings up our county total to 6 which is a much smaller number than some across the country.

CJ- isn’t that funny that the lawn guy showed up today! Yes it’s that time of year, and the outside of our homes now needs attention. glad that the lawn problem is solved for you and that your grass will be cut. Did it feel good to get the yard cleaned up a little bit? With warmer nice weather, its not so bad being outside and doing some yard work. Bet you burned a few calories also. Each jurisdiction has their own rules with what they will pick up for yard clean up. I have not heard a thing about yard cleanup here yet- think the healthy crisis is sort of taking over, In the fall they want us to use those brown paper bags. And my town will take smaller branches at the town DPW yard, which they will chip up for free mulch. After that nasty wind/snow storm we had they actually came down all the streets and took whatever you dragged out to the road.. Dh and I spent a whole afternoon dragging out lots of branches then. You sound like me washing my hands constantly. Better safe than sorry.
Ruth, yes I have heard of the same thing, where apartments have just a mini fridge- and one cabinet or two. No means of cooking at all. I cannot imagine that. I made a roasting chicken today and a bag of frozen veggies for Ds and myself. I am sure you made something wonderful for Dh and yourself for dinner- you always seem to be making something that sounds awfully good.
I did get a long walk in today and chatted with dd #2 most of the time. Good to visit with her on the phone. I did get another thank you note done- the remaining ones will be done tomorrow. And I paid a few bills. I also wrote little notes to each grandchild (and sent them notes in separate envelopes so each would get mail). Figured DGD#1 can write back to me- she is old enough to write a simple letter. DGS I sent 2 coloring pages and sent one coloring page to DGD#2. Figure if each got their own mail and a bit of an activity it would make DD’s job easier- and make the kids day getting mail. So that took time. I got some yard work done- and planted some sugar snap pea seeds. I enjoy them, and Dh always thought they were a waste of time in the garden. Little by little I will try to get the yard cleaned up. Ds helped a bit getting a branch down that needed cutting- easy job for him as he is much taller than I am.
Another officer at work has Covid. I feel bad for Ds....I know I can go to stay at DD’s - but feel that staying home might be better Cannot imagine leaving Ds here alone (when he is not at work) at this time. Its a time when we all need each other after our loss. Honestly, if anyone has an opinion on this I welcome it. I am so conflicted.
Time to check out some television and crochet. ginny

Ginny, that would be a hard choice to make but if I were in that situation I think I'd stay with son. However I'm not one is was ever real careful about contacting illnesses. Love that you sent the grands individual letters. I do that too and they love it. Takes a few stamps but it's worth it to hear how happy they were to receive them. I have two ready now to send so need to drive to mailbox tomorrow to also charge up it's battery.I see people that are worried about receiving mail and also sending because of danger of virus. Well personally I don't think that after all that time moving from one place to another that there will still be living virus on paper.

hi, getting late. just stopping it to let you know we are ok.
ginny if you feel you need to be with dear son then you are doing what you need to do.you will know if the time is right to leave or son tells you to go.yes it is a hard decision to make.
here is a list for the virus. they came out with a new one and I can Not find it on google.
air 3 hours copper 4 hours
cardboard 24 hours plastic, stainless steel 72 hours metal, glass, plastic, as long as 9 days.
when my cpap supplies came last week. I sprayed the box with a soluiton of water and bleach,.let it sit in the garage for 3 days.so yes I think it can stay on paper.
ups say there is little chance of getting it from cardboard. not buying it.
when Don came home from the grocery store I WIPED DOWN EVERYTHING I COULD.
WE are even wiping down car door handles ,steering wheel gear shift they are telling us to be careful using the gas pumps.etc.
they are telling us keep our counters and etc clean by wiping down often.
last night think it was on fox or cnn they showed a picture of a guy in store(maybe walmart) licking the boxes and saying who's afraid of the corona virus.
another story reported is a guy coughed on a customer another walmart and say I have the virus. told a employee be glad you have a job. the 3 guys a have been arrested and charge with terrioism. .
U.S.is getting reports of stuff like this happening overseas also.
why can a crisis bring out the good in people and also the bad in the j---a--sorry for the ja word but that is what they are.
ok off the soap box, good night dear friends. phyl

I know folks are wiping down boxes and mail.I am just trying to handle it as little as possible and making sure that external envelopes/boxes make it in the trash or the recycling bin as soon as I can to limit contact with myself or other surfaces. As far as leaving goes, the longer I stay here, the greater risk I would put Dd#1 (who is pregnant) and her family at- via exposure to Ds. So I will dig in and stay here. I am thinking of telling Dd#2 its ok to come here tomorrow to do her laundry. As it stands now, she would have to go to a public laundromat to wash her clothes, and well the same precautions can be taken here- as long as we stay 6 feet apart. Ds will be at work tomorrow, and I pretty much wipe down everything at the end of the day and disinfect where I figure he has been in the am. So the risk Dd #2 and I pose to each other is low. Again, I go by the fact that she is hurting also....and there might be some comfort for her to come home. (Yes we have gloves and disinfectant).
Cannot believe that joker who coughed on another customer in Walmart and the idiot licking boxes. This is serious stuff- this virus is a killer. And its ok that you were on your soap box Phyl.
The only issue I see with virus on the mail is if the carrier had virus on his/her hands when they put it in the mailbox. But I could be so wrong.
Last night Ds and I spent a few minutes getting some yard work done- and I did get the pea seeds planted. Got almost 3 more rows done on the baby afghan too.
See y’all later. GInny
