Split rail is a good choice and always looks good! If you haven't already explored quilterscache.com Its a wonderful source of ideas.
Ruth, I don't know if I'll be able to do the veggie garden or not. Several bulb beds were thoroughly weeded and the bulbs were removed in the fall. In the back beyond the chain link fence, there are raised beds that have been thoroughly amended over the last 25 years. All of this is fenced and not deer accessible. I'm not concerned about weeding. There are kids in the neighborhood and there will be adults who adults who can do some of the heavy lifting. Nobody is busy right now.
I've been wondering about shipping for a while. Things could get to the point where non essential items might be delayed. The other possibility is that some warehouses are in states where non essential businesses are closed.
Ginny, my "lot" is 1.4 acres. Approximately one acre is fenced with a 6' fence. The chain link fence goes roughly across the middle of the back.
Go shopping CJ! Having food is better than worrying about having to get it. The situation is very likely to get worse for a while. No one has been able to define how long a while is yet, but the numbers are still increasing.

Hello Crafters Thanks for the advice on going shopping. I don't really need a lot and I think it's better to go out and get it now before things get worse, then I would be fine for a month at least. There are over 200 cases in the county I live in and 10 deaths in my state so far. They are setting up testing stations that will open this week and I'm sure we'll see the number of cases rise. Fortunately some people are recovering and/or didn't need to be hospitalized. I have enough fabric and quite a bit of yarn, that I could stay home for many years and make projects and not run out It started out cloudy here today but now the sun is out, I think it's supposed to get into the high 70s. I'll go out in a bit and start up the cars again. I'm afraid the battery is going to die on my old car so maybe starting it each day will help. I finished the 8 cat blocks for the small quilt I'm working on. I was also able to cut 4 squares of the kitten fabric fat quarter, so I'll put this quilt together with the 12 blocks. I'm going to sash them all in the same fabric. I think this quilt really needs a larger border around it but I'm not sure what way to go with the color since I'm pretty much out of the fabrics I used in the quilt. I might have enough of one of them, I'll see after I'm done putting the sashing around. I'll be checking out the blogs on Slow Sunday Stitching today, looking forward to seeing what people are working on. Hope everyone gets in some crafting today and that you and your families are staying well. Take care everyone!

good afternoon, another do nothing day for me. need to get out of this habit. I need to give myself a good kick in the ###! to get stuff done.
Ginny the cowgirl cyber party was to be for all of us here. I do this every so often on the partners thread. They call me the activity director .lol.
girls as you get what you need it would not be a bad idea to go to the bank and have some cash in the house just in case it's needed.I am not talking closing out accounts or that kind of thing. just have some cash in the house if the need arises.keep it for emergencies.we can always put it back in the banks after this is over.we just don't know.
Don took out some money.HE remembers things being rationed.
I was going to work on Nathan's quilt yesterday. a few days ago I thought something did not look right.I found it yesterday.
some of the squares are not going in the diagonal pattern they should. Least it is the quilt top which is only about half way done and not the quilt top.
have a good evening .PHYL

Phyl - I take out money and keep some at home too. I've always been concerned that there would come a time that I couldn't get to the bank and I like to have some cash on hand. I guess these days everyone takes a debit card, but I don't like to use mine. I just don't trust that someone won't get access to my checking account when I use it. Just think what would happen if all of our automated systems stopped working - at least those of us with cash on hand could still purchase things if stores were open. I spend too much time thinking about stuff like this Ginny - I meant to tell you that I like the Heartland pattern from the 3 Yard Quilts website too. I copied a picture of it to my computer since it would be easy to make without the pattern. I think the fabrics in the picture on the pattern are what really make that quilt though.

Ruth, the stores here are restocking and with the exception of supplies to disinfect and paper products, what I am seeing in the grocery store looks pretty normal. Agreed that flour sugar and yeast will be helpful (I usually keep them in the house anyway). And remember that honey, corn syrup. Molasses etc...can be used in certain recipes instead of sugar. Yogurt can be frozen also...
There is a wonderful Franklin Graham ad on TV- short sweet and simple and very reassuring for those who are fearful.
Started work on the baby quilt. Got the layout done and all the rows pinned together. I will have to get a bit creative with the thread I use, just to make sure I have enough of a good color for the final top stitch. My machine was a bit wierd. Kind of wishing I had bought the new machine before all this nonsense took place- and now I will have to work with my singer. No stores are open, and the machine I want is not available on amazon.

I don't know how the stores are here because I haven't been out for 18 days now.I'm glad your stores are well stocked Ginny. That's a worry off your mind.I'd love to go and buy some carrots and eggs and new yeast.I keep money in my house too.I read a book by Larry Burkett called Solar Flare. It was fiction but could happen.Every single thing that worked on electricity and even batteries did not funcion. People turned into maniacs trying to get food, etc. My cash is well hidden and I know no one could ever find it.Not that it's a huge amount but it's enough to get by for awhile.
It sounds like most of you are working hard on your projects and are coming along well with them.
CJ, it's really is not needed to run a car every day because then you're probably doing more draining of the battery than charging. Be sure you run it long enough. The other thing is if you run them every day you're using up a lot of gas. I think the running time to compensate for the power used to start the engine is at least 15 minutes.
I'm working on my C2C pattern and found that whoever said it could be done in a day was either lying or doing nothing but crocheting. Mine is half done but I worked on it a bit last evening and this morning.
Sue, yes it was your back that I wondered about. There are no kids in my neighborhood so no one to hire to pull weeds. Luckily though, here not even weeds grow very well.Still I've tried digging and it's an almost impossible job with the hard clay and the rocks.

evening, girls I asked Don about starting cars. He does not think it is necessary..he thinks maybe once every couple of weeks.
both of our cars have sit in the garage for two weeks depending on which one we were driving at times and if we were traveling. came back and they have always started.
Don said when cars had carburetors it was different. most cars do not have carburetors now.
Don did say if your battery was more then 5 years old might not hurt to get a new one
the reason I asked DON was because you girls were talking about running the car for 15 minutes..I thought that was along time.
every fall the news station will have a segment on getting cars ready for winter.mechanics have said not to run the car for more the 2-3 minutes. not good to run the car longer. forget why.might have something to do with the computer system.
up to you what you do. just thought you would like to know. phyl
