This is a monthly thread for those of us who have a lot of weight to lose. The definition of “a lot” is something that is determined personally, so everyone who feels they have a lot of weight to lose is welcome to post here.
Please join us in offering support, checking in for accountability, help with questions, etc. We’re in this for the long haul.
We’d also love to hear from those of you who are maintaining a large loss. We need those tips to help us to keep the weight off once we lose it

Hello Everyone Welcome to April - seems like it might be a tough month for all of us and our country and world. I hope that all of you and your families stay safe and well. DotRen - Hope you can find the No Salt Added green beans - those are the ones I buy all the time since I try to limit my sodium intake. I lucked out and found some at the store yesterday, I think most people prefer the salted ones. I also hope things can work out for your son. It's tough that he has to be out there exposed to the virus. I did go to the grocery store yesterday and it was kind of a surreal experience. Not too many people in the store, about half of them wearing masks and gloves. I did find some of the foods I didn't the last time I went 2 weeks ago - but there were many empty shelves in both stores I went in. I'm glad I went now instead of waiting a few weeks when I would have had to go, since I think things are going to get worse with the virus and maybe with food supply. Now I'm fine and can stay home. I can't even think about dieting. I give those of you that are a lot of credit. I am still doing the 100 Day Challenge so that gets me to eat some dairy, fruit and vegetables each day, drink my water and get some exercise in. If I can keep that up I'll be happy. Take care everyone!

Good morning
cj, thanks for our monthly start! Glad the store was not too bad for you.
dotren, happy birthday to Murray ;-)
I need to drink more water. That's all I am going to focus on for now. I did throw the jellybeans out this morning. All my fav colors were gone so it made it easy...lol

DotRen - I bet Murray enjoyed his "cake" sunrose - Good for you throwing out those jellybeans that weren't your favorites I did an inventory of my food today so I could update the list I keep with expiration dates. This helps to plan meals for the next month since I don't plan to go back to the grocery store until then. I've been keeping this list for awhile after I realized how much food I was wasting - that was a couple years ago. Now it's easy to keep it updated. It's an Excel spreadsheet, I like making them Just remember, I'm retired and I live alone Hope everyone is doing well and that you and your families are staying safe and healthy

I am eating 4 meals a day. Get too hungry otherwise I am doing 30 total minutes of treadmill walking in 6 segments of 5 minutes each at 1.2 mph. I am out of shape so this is what I can do right now. I also have a Health Rider from years ago . I started with 5 minutes yesterday. I did my first segment this am. I ordered chicken of the sea in oil cans from REBel Smuggling a set of 24. I am allowed 4 cans of tuna at the store I go to. I eat 28 cans a week. I hope if I order each week from Rebel smuggling tuna I will have enough. I have enough till I get the can set. I eat the tuna with miked russet potato. I bought grapes last Monday when Rich who helps me clean Saturday takes me early at 7am open I eat 40 grapes a day. I am eating what I like. Each can of tuna is 140 calories per 5 oz can.

Hi everyone!
We're hanging in. I haven't been thinking about weight much at all. I did pop on the scale the other day and found that I'm still around where I have been since the Fall. I had crept up a couple of pounds, but they are gone. I did overhear my youngest the other day saying, "Mommy has a big, big, big belly!" (Ouch!)
My fitbit appears to have died. I'm not happy about it, but not eager to get another one. I miss it mostly for the watch and alarm functions to be honest. It irritates me that fitbits only seem to last a couple of years, then when you go to replace it, you can't get that model anymore. I liked the one I had and don't want to switch to a new style. My DD also had a fitbit (kids version) but she lost it and the new models aren't as nice as the old ones. They are very child-like as compared to the old ones, and my fitbit and hers were compatible for straps, but the new ones aren't. Her favorite part was swapping out straps and raiding my strap stash. Not sure what we will do or whether we will replace our old ones.
We are trying to grocery shop once per week. We've started the meal delivery boxes again and that seems to be working. Our stores have most items, although they have placed limits. There was a brief period where there was no toilet paper to be found, but that seems to have sorted itself out. I find grocery shopping stressful. They only let so many people in the store at once and there is tape all over the floor with arrows for which direction you are allowed to go. Walmart also has tape markers every 2 metres to show how far apart you have to be, which I like. There are still some people who get too close and shopping takes forever. Our province has instituted a fine for people not within the same household found within 2 metres of one another, so I'm hoping the people ignoring social distancing will be reduced soon. My grocery store still uses reusable bags, but you have to pack them yourself. They've also installed plexiglass to shield the cashiers. They wipe down the carts before you touch them and I use hand sanitizer before I go in and right after I leave. I have not been wiping down my groceries, but I feel like I should be. I'm seeing more and more masks and gloves each week. I think I want to start using a mask when I go out, even if it's just a homemade fabric one. I feel like something is better than nothing, especially if you have it and don't have any symptoms.
School has been officially cancelled for the year. I'm not sure how that is going to work for me and work; I can only imagine that we are going to start doing more work as time goes on, and a lot of my work isn't conducive to having little ears around.
Hope you all are doing well! Stay safe!

Good morning
cj, that's a great idea regarding the excel spreadsheet!!
Amy, you are doing great!
wwlurker, I know what you mean about the fitbits! So frustrating. My store has placed limits on certain things. I didn't see the sign when I first got somethings and they took them away at the register. I felt like a hoarder! :-( It's got to be harder dealing with all this when you had young kids. Hang in there.
My scale is going back up again. Had my ww virtual meetings this morning. We talked about stress. Lots of that going around. I just need to learn to deal with it. One thing for me is turning off the TV and getting out in my yard.

wwlurker, they had to start asking people to NOT bring their entire families to the stores here. I mean, common sense is more scarce than toilet paper, right? People were still letting their kids run around unsupervised, touching everything, getting up in strangers space, etc.

DotRen, they've done that here as well. My heart breaks for the single parents with no other options. I saw one lady with two kids with her at the grocery store and I felt so bad for her. My heart breaks for the kids who lost their school year too. I know that for a lot of kids, school is their "safe place" and it pains me to imagine those who are stuck at home in unhealthy situations or with parents who aren't able to continuing with learning opportunities at home. To say nothing of the children who relied upon the schools for two of their meals each day! Intimate partner violence is also weighing on my mind. All things considered, I feel very fortunate and privileged.

wwlurker, My son works in a prep school (basically a daycare setting) and they've had a lot of no-shows. They went from around 100 kids a day to 22 yesterday. It's good/bad news: parents are home so they can spend time with their children but it could also be financial (not working and can't afford it). Son is helping the ones that are in school with their e-homework and he's enjoying that part of it, but he said they'll probably have to shut down if any more of the kids stop coming.

Hello Everyone amrys - I'm glad you are able to get food delivered. wwlurker - I'm glad you and your family are doing well and I hope things will work out for you working from home. I feel the same way about the Fitbits too. I had an old Charge HR and when that died I got the HR2 and still have it. Sometimes I'd like to just take the thing off and forget about it sunrose - Hope you can get out in the yard When I first made the food spreadsheet I found canned foods in my cupboards that were over 2 years old I had a similar problem with yogurt. I try to eat one each day and I was getting too many and they were expiring before I could eat them (I'm funny about eat old dairy products). So now at least I can plan meals based on food that is expiring first. DotRen - I hope your DS's work doesn't have to shut down, but it seems like we getting to where almost everything will have to. I don't know how that is going to work. Hope everyone is doing well and that you and your families are staying safe and healthy. Take care

Good morning
wwlurker, my heart breaks too for those that needed to be either at school for meals or spouses that are abused at home. Even kids that are abused at home. So sad how this has affected so many in so many different ways. I feel fortunate and privileged too.
dotren, I hope your son stays safe.
cj, I am funny about dairy also. I will not eat yogurt after it has expired a couple days. I've had the same thing with cans...lol
I did a jazzercise class yesterday via FB. All is well in my world. I pray for those fighting this horrible virus.

I had to laugh this morning so I wouldn't cry. Ok I decided to make a couple of washable face masks, simple enough looking at the youtube videos. Problem 1: located my sewing machine, forgot how to load the bobbin.. Problem: presser foot is missing. I had a spare that does 1/4" hem lines and managed to get that to work - ordered standard presser foot, then made it 2 because apparently they walk off on their own... Problem 3: needle broke...luckily I had spares.. order more needles Problem 4: no elastic! On order but won't be here until Wed or Thurs, so I just used some lycra fabric I had on hand to practice the masks on. Problem 5: I had my layers backwards, so when I turned it right side out, the ties were on the inside lol.. I finally got 3 masks made and called it a day! Will wait on the elastic for the ear loops, the lycra is ok but it's not quite right.
