We are a group of like-minded people that gather to discuss a host of topics from weight loss, to current events. Our thread celebrates liberal diversity, welcomes new friends, and respects all opinions. We count everything from calories to points but, we never count our chickens before they've hatched!
Seriously?!!!

Just a quick hello. DGKs went home yesterday afternoon, and we're settling back to normal here. Haven't had a chance to get caught up with the news, email, or anything else yet but hope to do that soon.
Do have some bad news about my dad, and I'm dreading going over there this afternoon. Fluid is building back up from his congestive heart failure and kidney doctor told me yesterday afternoon that his kidney function has dropped since the hospital rather than go up a little as we had hoped. It is now at only 15%. Some very hard decisions are looming closely on our horizon.
Check back later . . .

Thinking of you, Joyce. Sorry about the news concerning your Dad. Been there, done that with my MIL & those kinds of decisions with fluid buildup, heart congestion & kidneys. Yes, tough!

Sigh, Joyce I am sorry to hear about your Dad. Sending hugs and prayers.
I woke up this morning and Dumpster was telling me "I said 'wiretap' in quotes." Did he also say his plan for all Americans "is going to be great" in quotes?
I'd like to see brain scans on the people who believe this guy. I think they look like this: [zzzzzzzz] or like this ( )

I'd like to see brain scans on the people who believe this guy. I think they look like this: [ zzzzzzzz] or like this ( ) I think it is the later one . . . completely empty with no brain activity whatsoever. Actually went better than I had hoped when I talked with my mom and dad. There's no way to predict what the future will hold, and certainly my dad is aware of that. Whatever comes, we'll keep taking it one step at a time. What really makes it hard is when the kidney doctor (this afternoon) tells me, "If the heart doctor really feels he needs a diuretic for the fluid, I will go along with that on a very temporary basis so you (meaning me) will have to decide if you think it is truly needed or not." WHAT?! How the heck am I supposed to know? That's why he's seeing a kidney specialist and a heart specialist because they are supposed to know and tell us what does or does not need to be done. My crystal ball doesn't work that well! Ughhh!!! Just frustrating! My suggestion to my dad was for me to get his general practitioner who specializes in geriatrics to get the most recent reports from both the heart doctor and the kidney doctor, then make an appointment to sit down with him and have him synthesize this information for us, tell us what we should likely be expecting and preparing for, what kind of options we may have and what kind of decisions we are likely to need to make. My dad, however, says he will think about that but that he is not ready to do that yet. So I just tell him when he is ready to let me know, because I don't know anything else to do.

Joyce, sounds like you are between a rock and a hard place. I think it is very wise of you to have the reports sent to your dad's gerontologist. You and your family have my prayers.
(((gentle hugs)))

Speaking of rocks & hard, I spent the afternoon rock painting for "Kindness Rocks" project for out by the Little Free Library. It was hard because my printing leaves a lot to be desired & my artwork barely gets by with stick figures. Trying to write inspirational words & quotes on rocks to place around the library for those that stop by to take one for themselves or give away. Found out paint pens & Sharpies work best after trial & error.
Wow, on the proposed budget cuts. Taking away all the programs to help elderly, underprivileged, special needs, public schools, rural hospitals, arts, public TV programming, and everything inbetween, sure will help make America Great Again!...NOT..... UGH! Sorry, but those that still believe in Trump & think these cuts are ok are _________ fill in your own not nice word! :-(:-(:-(...Just disgusting & shameful!
