Good morning!
CJ- sounds like you had a nice day. Are you reading a book that you are really enjoying? Don’ t blame you regarding the mask issue. It does seem as though such a sad statement about the state of our world. 6 months ago the thought of wearing a surgical mask in public was reserved only for the immunosuppressed and now it seems to be something we will be dealing with for awhile. Guess the important thing is that you stay protected when going out, and I am sure that you will take good care of yourself and do that. Its good to hear that your zip code is not the worst of the hot spots...my county has been hit pretty hard but like you my zip code is not the worst. You will figure out the best time for you to go face a store. And in the meantime we will all enjoy socializing with each other here.
Ruth- guess you did eventually eat something!! Bet it felt good to catch up with your friend. That is what happens with good friends....when it takes hours to catch up with what has been going on in your lives. Hope that your friend and her family are staying safe and healthy also. Think many did a simple dinner for yesterday, as opposed to a somewhat fancy meal as its normally served for Easter. Saturday I made a pie, which i cut up and took some over for both of my DD’s and their families. Of course I kept some for Ds and myself. I figured that we would all be eating together if it were a non Covid Easter, so we might as well share the dessert.
Got a little bit of crocheting in last night. I read some also... Looks like a lay day here, its rainy and very windy. Ds had to return to work today. Got some paperwork to take on today, and I do hope to return to the Huskie manual and try to figure out how I can make it work.
Have a good day all Ginny

Beautiful sunshine for now, but it's chilly outside. I'm not quite ready to go walking with the dogs, but I will in a while.
The dishwasher is working for me, and I'll put the washing machine to work in a while.
Yesterday I brought a chicken up from the freezer, and I'll put it in a pot in a while. No fancy soup for hb. I'll shred part of the chicken and serve it in a gravy from the chicken broth over mashed potatoes. Tomorrow he can have one of his much loved ground beef patties with mashed potatoes, of course. I will have some delicious chicken salad! And sandwiches! And with rice!
After I put the dishes in the dishwasher, I made a large packet of peach jello with diced peaches and pears.
Last night I trimmed my hair, so I need to pick out another color of cotton yarn to make another hat! My fingers and judgement slipped last night, and I ordered some yarn to make a brioche scarf. It's knit, not crochet. That's probably overly ambitious, but I don't have to be anywhere for an indefinite time period!

This was not the same friend I've been trying to get ahold of but, yes, it was great talking to her and I was actually able to hear what she was saying.
Well I didn't get the blanket finished last night after all. I can't do anything else while on the phone...mentioned that before. Then I ate and did some other things instead so I have two rows to go.I can't decide on what to do next. There are so many things I want to make that I am having a hard time picking one.Plus there's the finishing work on those many others that have just a little bit of weaving in or else edging. I'm just glad that on some I got busy and finished them completely.
Ginny, I know your family was happy to have some of that pie. What kind was it? I made brownies for dh yesterday. He likes them with dollops of peanut butter which you mix with a little powdered sugar and drop in after the batter is in the pan.

Sue, well cutting your own hair is not nearly as much fun as getting it cut, but sounds like none of us are getting out for that haircut in the near future. Bet you are happy that you no longer look like a shaggy dog. Its exciting that you picked out a new pattern and a scarf color. What kind of yarn did you order and what color will the new scarf Hope it arrives soon....and you get started on your new project soon. New projects are always so much fun. I had to look up what a brioche scarf was, and I like the ribbing..you will be fine knitting it- there is so much good advice on youtube, got a feeling you will be fine. Sounds like you have been cooking up a storm and it all sounds good. Think we should all exchange recipes...it would alleviate boredom as we are all trying to make do with what we have in the house.
Ruth, so glad you had a good conversation with your friend- and that you were able to hear her so clearly. The end of the blanket is near, with only two rows to go. I wonder if you will finish it this evening. Perhaps you could alternate starting a new project with finishing an old one. Somehow its such a challenge finishing off old projects.... The brownies sound great- I will have to try doing that the next time I make brownies.
The pie was pineapple coconut. Its very sweet - but so very good. Not all like coconut, however.
I called Dh’s widowed aunt this afternoon. She is such a sweet woman, MUCH more pleasant than her sister, my MIL ever dreamed of being. I am glad I called her. Got to turn on my new machine and registered for warrantee. Will get to playing with it tomorrow. I had to take care of some financial paperwork today- will do more tomorrow too.
Time to clean up the kitchen and get ready for my study group. Ginny

Sue, we must have been typing at the same time. I, too, had to look up the brioche scarf. I think I could do that one. You could even make it into a keyhole scarf so that you wouldn't have to fight ends coming open. I've never made one of those with the opening but they do look nice. I did a similar thing with my chicken...roasted it yesterday, we ate some, then today put the remaining chicken which was still on the bones into a pot and simmerd and am going to make chicken and dumplings. I remembered that we had bisquick. I had forgotten because we don't normally have it and the dumplings made with it are really good. Of course I had seasonings to mine
Ginny, enjoy the Bible study this evening.I'm glad to hear that your mil's sister is a complete opposite of your mil. She sounds like a lovely woman.
Well I had big plans to do some spring cleaning in my kitchen and dining room. I think I got a third of it done before I got to tired to do more so the rest might be tomorrow or later in the week. I'm going back to my crocheting now and Ginny, you always give me the best suggestions. I will do that (working on a UFO in between new projects)
We did have a virus death over the weekend in our state. It's the first one but I doubt it will be the last. I think the worst is still to come out here.
CJ, hope your doing ok.
Phyl, have a good Monday.
Meg, I wrote you an email and no answer, I hope you're ok

Happy Tuesday alll,
Ruth, the chicken and dumplings sound sooooooo very good. Over the years I found that Dh disliked dumplings, so I stopped making them . For the ease of use , bisquick makes a good dumpling. I am sure yours turned out well and it sounds like a wonderful winter meal. I know spring is here or coming or something like that, but I enjoy the comfort foods of cooler weather much more than summer grilled foods.
Study was good. One woman (who tested negative but might have had Covid) joined us. It was nice to “see” her, and know that she is slowly feeling better. I actually got to play with my new machine last night! It comes pre threaded with a small bobbin and spool of thread, so i test sewed with it just for a minute. Its going to take me a long while to get the hang of it, but so far so good.
I have Meg’s home address, perhaps I can send her a note, in case she is not getting computer time.
Will check back in later to say hi to everyone else. G

We're supposed to have snow this afternoon and tonight!
We have entertainment directly across the street! The neighbors started a major house project about six weeks ago. It's not clear whether work is being done inside or not, but the windows have been replaced, and the siding is being replaced. The front deck has been removed, and the front door is different. Yesterday hb kept insisting that I could see the same things he could. His recliner is close to the bay window, so he has a very good view. From where I'm sitting, I can't even see the house!
The chicken was good. I loved the cornbread. Good combination for the jello. Tonight is a chicken vacation day, and he can have his ground beef patty and mashed potatoes. Sliced carrots with ginger, nutmeg.

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today Sounds like some good meals are being cooked. I've been using my food by expiration date, so there's no telling what the meal will be from one day to the next Ginny - I'm glad you've tried out the machine. That is interesting that it came pre-threaded, I'm glad it seems to be working well so far. We've had some storms over the past few days, but nothing like the severe weather in the south. It's supposed to be cool this week, but I like that weather. I do need to go out one day this week and mail some bills, but I'm not doing any shopping in a store for a few more weeks. Hopefully things will be calmed down by then. I haven't gotten back to any quilting for several days, maybe later this week. I would like to do some stitching work, so I might try that instead. I have been reading some enjoyable books. Take care everyone and stay safe and well.

Hello to all. I first typed good morning then realized it is just after noon.
CJ, that's an excellent way to choose what to eat. That way you are left with the newer things and have used the older ones. Our plan is similar to that. We're actually getting some space in the freezer which is usually packed with food.
They just mentioned that we're going to have snow again tomorrow too but on the bright side, next Monday is supposed to be 62, I'm looking forward to that.
Ginny, what a great thing that is to have the machine come prethreaded. That's the thing that I dread. If mine had come prethreaded I probably would never have leard how to thread it though so it's probably good that I was forced to do that first thing. And it's a great idea to learn about and try all the possibilities of your machine. I know only the very basic of mine and I've had it quite awhile. I'd saw at least 5 years
Sending Meg a note sounds like a great idea. I have her address too and also her phone number but it just seems like a big imposition to call someone. It would be great for you to send the note.
I did finish the blanket last evening and even wove in all the ends. I didn't start anything new yet but did get some yarn together for another blanket I want to try but I think I'll work on the last two blankets that I have in progress. The one is the one you're making, Ginny, and the other is what that designer called the cabbage patch stitch which I really like. I also want to go throught the ones I have in a bin, most of which need edging, some need finishing and a couple may even need to be ripped out and the yarn made into something else.I have a couple other small thijngs I want to sneak in there between blankets
Ginny, my dh mentioned a little while back..maybe a week or so...that he thought your "King" Mario jr was trying for a presidential bid. Having watched him in action I agree. I don't know if it's possible for him to oust Biden but I think that's what he wants to do or at least be the VP nominee so he can take over when Biden becomes so demented he can't run things. I know this is not a political thread and I don't want to offend anyone but I don't see how anyone could possibly vote for Biden with the mental state he's in. He can't possibly run the country

Good evening,
King Andrew (Aka Mario Jr) started out this Covid crisis being a great leader and trying hard to rally much needed support for his state. In that respect he did a great job, and I am thankful that he was at the time such a good communicator and advocate for the state. Now he sounds like a chronic whiner who needs his diaper changed. think you are right, he might perceive himself as presidential. He is a city governor, however, and has little popularity once you get across the Hudson River and head north. I can imagine middle America would have no use for him as president. The way I see it, is we all have a right to pick all over our own politicians. So I can pick on the King all I want.
Ruth, glad you finished the blanket last night. I don’t think anyone likes to weave in ends. What yarn did you take out for your next project?? I will send a note to Meg, and see if I hear back. Gosh, I hope she is ok.
Sue, save a plate for me!! Dinner sounds wonderful and a nice rotation of foods to keep you and your Hb happy. Well its nice that your neighbor is providing interesting entertainment. The house wont look the same when they are all done!! Hope you do not get too much snow.
CJ- glad you are enjoying some good reading material! A pleasant way to pass time for sure. I have a book I am struggling through- its good enough- I just have not really had long stretches of time to read. You will get back to quilting when you are ready. Hopefully you will be back into it when we get through the summer, and its more fun quilting in the fall. Did you ever complete the mason jar quilt? And yes that is a great idea to use food based upon its expiration date. Hope your meals are interesting and taste great.
Covid cases are going up where Ds works.
Made homemade pizza tonight. It came out ok- I miss pizzeria pizza but this will have to do for awhile.
Gonna play with my new toy for a little bit. Ginny

My dh was just asking if I was going to make another pizza. I'm not especially fond of pizza. I like it from a pizzeria if it has jalapenos on it but otherwise I really don't care for it and don't care for the one I make either.
The yarn I got our is Caron Simply soft in a variegated baby color . I call it that but don't know what the real color name is. I also got some out that I've had in my stash for a number of years no.Gotta check and see whata it is. I may start one tonight. Plans for the day got changed somehow and I didn't get any of those things done.
Ginny, I'm sorry to hear that your ds' workplace has seen more cases of the virus. I do pray that he will not contact it.

Yeah making your own pizza is ok but not necessarily even close to as good as that from a pizzeria. I used to crochet with Caron yarns- which at the time I was able to get at a really reasonable cost. (The company I worked for owned Caron). I remember the yarn as being very soft, I basically learned to crochet on that yarn. I wonder if you got to start that other afghan.
Minor frustration last night. I do not have the open toe spring foot for free motion work- I texted the shop owner last night and she will be at the shop tomorrow and see if she has one. Guess that means I have to try to make the singer work....or wait a week. I am reasonably sure that the shop owner will have to order the foot I need- and will have to wait a week to get it.
Going out for a walk in a little bit. G

Ginny, that's so frustrating esp when you have a new machine and have a specific plan in mind then don't have the part you need to complete that plan
I really don't care for Caron simply soft but I had bought some way back for a good price so I have it on hand and have to use it up.I had bought this particular color for an afgan the pattern for which I got from a friend that actually lives in Alaska. It's a very simple pattern for an afgan you can make in any size. It does turn out heavy and thick because it's all sc with long sc. It turns out beautiful but it's very boring because it's the same for row after row after row. I didn't know I had this many skeins of it and I don't think they even make this color anymore.
Yesterday my crafting was just making small things and today I'll get to the blanket. My dgs' sword broke so I don't have to make the sword sheath except I do have a toy sword here and might make one for that and send it. I'm wondering if he'll think it's too babyish because it's foam. I don't know what the one he had was like. If he doesn't like it he can give it to his little brother. He's 6, his brother is only 2
Most of our old snow melted yesterday but we're to get more starting later today. Again they say 3-6 inches or something like that.
I'm reading a book also but again this author has to push her political agenda which I don't like

I have spent most of the day making a scarf that has holes in it! The yarn is a Chroma tonal. Deep Rose with shifts to gray. I'm sure the pattern/ stitch must have a name. There are nine windows in each two row set. No pattern. I told hb that it has built in ventilation.
Yesterday and today have been rough. hb hasn't worn his hearing aids. He gets frustrated and angry and very grumpy, plus his age level behavior goes down to three.
Tonight's dinner is breakfast! I love eggs, and they're something besides ground beef patties that hb eats without complaint.
