At some point or time, we all have to get out and get to the store...the good part is now that they really want us to wear masks, no one should be looked at like Typhoid Mary for wearing one. Dh would have been furious if he had to wear a mask. His answer to this would be to move to a remote (super remote) area and see no one. Ever. I know he would have missed our adult children and grandkids a ton, but he would not concede to that. Not sure when I will get to the store - I can see myself placing a “from home” order for later on in the week. Ds will pick up bread and Milk coming home from work. So, make those masks.....its just good sense that we wear them.
Got a little bit of crocheting in last night. I am anxious for my spring open toe foot to arrive this week so I can resume my free motion work on the baby quilt.

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today Who would have ever thought that talking about and planning for groceries would be such a big concern for all of us I hope we can all work out what is best for us to get our groceries. I pulled some fabrics for another quilt top yesterday and pressed/starched them. I'm just going to put an easy quilt together using a main focus fabric. It's going to be a dull looking quilt I think because it's all blacks and whites, and maybe a gray thrown in. The main fabric is a toile with black on white print and the subject is children's things - games, animals, etc. I was really drawn to this fabric when I bought it, but now I wonder why I know I could add a colored fabric in, but I think I want it to just be blacks and whites. At least it will be quick to put together. After that I'll need to work on something in some bright colors. I still want to pull one of my panels that I have and work with it. Take care everyone!

Hey CJ- what kind of quilt pattern will you be using? Gotta say for the BOM I did last year, at the last minute they added a black/white/grey color scheme, which was dramatic and lovely. Maybe this quilt will not be as boring as you think! I love toile -just so pretty .you sure are prolific when you are inspired. Hope that this quilt goes together well for you. I have never ventured into panels but have a friend who does a lovely job of making quilts with them and finding ancillary fabrics to bring out the best in the panel. I am sure you will do the same....sounds like you have quite a fabric stash.

Hi Ginny - I'm not using a specific pattern, but I am loosely basing my quilt top on this pattern: www.fabriccafe.com/Checkmate-3-Yard-Quilt-Pattern-p/091323.htmI wanted to cut the toile fabric into the large strips like in this pattern, but I'm doing the strips in between, and the borders, differently. This website has a lot of great patterns using only 3 yards. I wish that their pattern books were digital, I'd order some of them - some of the patterns are digital. Speaking of panel quilts, I enjoyed watching this new video, of a quilt using a panel, by Jordan Fabrics: www.youtube.com/watch?v=uvJG1Cu052sI like the way she also showed how you could make it without a panel. Also, just the border would be great to do with a panel filling all the middle.

I've walked my littltle walk twice - with the woofers, emptied the dishwasher, crocheted, thought about dinner.

I just got back from my walk too. It's beautiful out and will last the week but who knows what next week will bring weather wise. Dh suggested that since it was so nice maybe I'd want to go for a walk..notice he didn't say he should go for one Ginny, I'm sure you're right that anyone who had an inclination to live in the boonies would have a good point about now being the time so I imagine that your dh would be telling you that you should do it if he were still here. CJ, I think blacks and whites make a wonderfully striking item. I've seen many crochet afgans and baby blanket is those colors sometimes along with gray and I really love them Got back to doing a little spring cleaning again but this time, too, didn't get all that far. I did get a few drawers cleaned and my bakers rack reorganized. I crocheted before that while dh was still sleeping and will again now that I'm resting. Some of the walk was uphill.Yesterday I worked on the blanket, started a scrubby for a gift set, and finished a hat I started awhile back. There wasn't much to do to finish it. This morning I looked thru my bin of baby blankets and found that I have 4 that are in the knitting process. Nice thing about that is they're always left on needles so you can't forget what size you used. There were two or three crochet ones in progress but no hook with them so I don't know what hook I used. I've gotten smarter since then and now put in a note of what the name of the pattern was, yarn size, and hook size.

Good morning all,
CJ- what a cool quilt top- and using the toile for the large strips sounds like a great idea. With a layout like that, I do not think a black and white (even with an occasional grey) pallet of fabrics would be anything close to dull or boring- I think it would be dramatic and very pretty. Hope you make good progress on that quilt top!! I am sure it will be very very pretty. That looks like another great web site,to find cool patterns at- so many quilt patterns- so little time... As far as the panel quilt goes, I too like how she did the quilt and the pretty border. Not sure how I feel about cutting up a panel into pieces, but it sure inspires me to think outside the box. I have never bought a panel for quilting, but have some close....perhaps I ought to do that. Hopefully in the fall the local quilting guild will have their quilt show and I can check out panels there.
Sue, glad to hear that you got some walks in. Good for the spirit and body! Sounds like a peaceful day for sure. I forget- now that the hat is done, what are you working on now?
Ruth- now that sounds like me, leaving a project partially done with absolutely no idea what size hook I started with. Very smart of you to keep notes regarding what you did and the size hook. Glad you got out for a nice walk, bet it felt good too!! Think Dh was looking for some alone time for himself, or did he sense that you needed that walk? Glad that you got some spring cleaning done. It feels so good to open a newly cleaned cabinet or drawer and see it all organized well.
Had study group last night- for a bunch of reasons it was only my quilting buddy and myself, so we did get through some of the study material, but also finished up with a few minutes of quilting talk. I got a nice walk in yesterday also, to a rural park that I have not been to much. Unfortunately I had to deal with a few jerks- one young adult who I waited for him to cross the path in front of me, and then when he seemed not desiring to move, I proceeded. Then the jerk crossed right in front of me anyway. What ever, for the most part it was a lovely walk. My crafting for the day was to finish moving my machine and supplies into their new home. (Dd#2’s bedroom). Today I might try to get the singer back into action to work on the baby quilt. We are in for strong storms late morning so I want to get my walk in before then.

Ginny, I was working on a blue scarf. Last night I undid the almost fourteen inches back to the beginning! I lost my crochet hook somewhere in the depths of the recliner. I almost had it, but it slipped beyond reach.
I got up late this morning - must have gone back to sleep for a while. It's a beautiful clear sunny day, and the high will get up to the low 60s.
Things will start opening up in Montana. I'll be staying put! My shopping plan is working. Meals are well balanced. My yard is like a park. The only thing missing is other people!
Yesterday I put up two bird feeders, and this morning while I was standing near the door, a chickadee came to visit. That's the beginning!

CJ makes the nicest sounding quilts!
Ginny, sorry for the jerk that passed too close. When I was out yesterday one young woman walked by. She walks every single day. She waved but didn't stop or come near to me. Dh knows that I like to get in exercise and he agrees that I should because it will keep me in better shape to take care of him. Was talking to my dd in pm's yesterday. She told me that my dh's sister who is a massive hypochondriac now says she has lupus. I kind of wonder if it may be true because I was thinking before that my dd and dh might have it. Three of my dd's six children have joint pains including the 19 year old. They do have most all of the symptoms except for the butterfly rash on the face. When my sister was here I asked her if she was ever tested for lupus. We have a maternal aunt and cousin with lupus. It's much more common in women than men.All the symptoms they have could also be something else completely.DD sent me pictures of her skin after just being in the sun from the car into the mini mart and back then into her house...Total of maybe 4 minutes and her skin was bright red and blistery looking. She just started having this problem last summer and it can be an indication of lupus
I was working on the blanket last night but my wrist started to ache and I had to stop. I may have to use that as a reason to get busy on some sewing. I'll start with masks and may make some more table runners. So I'll have to clear off my cutting table, aka dining room table.

Sue, so glad that you got chickadees so quickly! They are such tame little birds and a joy to have at the feeder. Congrats on having a balanced meal plan...wonderful when it takes such planning to orchestrate. And it sure stinks when that hook falls in the cracks of a sofa.
Ruth, will your sister listen to you if you suggest she gets tested for Lupus? It seems a wise thing to do....and it can be difficult to control. Best if she gets checked and takes whatever steps are necessary. Yup, sounds like time to give the crochet hook a break and sew for a day or two.
Woke up early this am so I am really tired.
For those who live in areas without much light at night, there is supposed to be a nice meteor shower tomorrow am just before sunrise.. Yes, I am going to try to wake up to view it from the deck. At 5:15 it should be pretty dark here but cold!! Yikes.
Have a great night all! Ginny

My sister doesn't seem to have done anything related to her health recently. When she was here, if you remember, she told me she hadn't had blood work done in several years and she does have diabetes.
I did get the fabric, my cutting mat and rotary cutter all to the dining room table after I cleaned it off but then rearranged my craft room some so didn't get to any sewing. I did do a little crocheting but not so much that I made the wrist ache too much. I'll sew tomorrow. I found my elastic. One bunch was no good but the rest was fine. I forget what size they say to use for the masks but I don't think I have that one but do have some that I think I can make work. Dh wants elastic not ties. I want ties.

Hello Crafters Hope everyone is having some nice weather today. It's sunny here but a bit cool and windy. We actually had a freeze warning last night. This spring has seemed more like the ones I remember when I was a child. The last several years it seemed like it just went from winter to summer. I'm glad to see some of you are working on crafting and other things in the house. I haven't gotten much done in the last few days, but a few things at least. I hope to work on the quilt I pulled the fabrics for. I noticed that a few of the pieces are only a half yard. I don't usually buy less than a yard, but I think I might have bought these for a quilt I was already working on and wasn't sure if I'd like the fabric or not. I think I have enough to use for this new quilt though. Take care everyone!

HI CJ, and hello to all else that stops in or just reads also
It's a beautiful day here. Sunny and about 70. I just went to the mailbox. Should have walked but I didn't. Also found that the store on the other side of town gave an online coupon for free delivery or curbside pickup plus $20 off your order so I called them to see if they actually deliver to my area because the store is about 14 miles away and the pizza places that are only 5 miles away if that, don't deliver here...so it says online anyway. Well the manager didn't know but thought they did. He said to look online. There was nowhere that said what the delivery specifications were so I put in an order and they didn't say they wouldn't deliver so I guess they will. Hopefully they will becasue once dh got involved you would think that we were devising a major plan the rectify the economic situation of the world. After I did that I did some straightening and dusting so no crafting yet.

so yes the delivery was free but of course you have to tip the delivery person. I'm just not good on tips. Like when your car dealer has someone drive you home and come and get you to take you back to pick up your car and now this grocery delivery. do you do a percentage of your grocery bill and how much would you give to your driver for the car dealer trips? If you want to just tell me in email my email is grandkidsrus@live.com and I don't mind posting that here because everyone on this continent already has my email address
