Well, I am glad I got to mow the lawn yesterday....as lovely as yesterday was today is cloudy and here there is a chance of showers.
Got to the store this morning, and stocked up on those items I wanted. I feel like I have put in a full days work already- having been to the store, put the groceries away, showered and started a load of laundry. Gonna check email and then try to figure out where there is a stuck thread in my machine. G

Hello Crafters Ginny - I hope you can find that thread. I can only imagine how frustrating this is with a new machine! I'm glad you were able to stock up and made it to the store. I feel exhausted after every shopping trip now too Ruth - I hope you will get a letter advising you about your stimulus check. I pulled out all the fabrics from that quilt kit and labeled them with the correct letters that were given on the quilt pattern - there's 12 different pieces that have to be cut up and that doesn't include the 2 borders. I need to press them all now and then I can start cutting. I'll have to be very careful, since they only gave a certain amount of the fabric and if I make mistakes I'm out of luck. I went out and got yesterday's and today's mail and I get so much mail asking for donations for charities. I don't understand why they keep sending me requests from places I've never donated before or places I haven't donated to for years. It must not cost them that much to do it, and I guess they hope to get a donation back. It's a cloudy day here but much warmer than the last two days. We're supposed to have a lot of rain and some storms tomorrow. Guess it's the last day of the April Showers Hope everyone is doing well and getting some crafting in. Take care!

Think that because we had a snowless winter, we are making up for it with rain this spring. I hope it is not a dry summer- I do like it when we get enough rain to keep things from drying out and turning brown in the summer.
CJ- would you be able to purchase additional fabric if you needed it? Even perhaps something like Ebay might be helpful. I have gotten some out of stock craft supplies there before. Its always a good feeling to get the craft organized- fabrics labeled and ready to be used.Think we all suffer from too many mailings from charities. I have one that cannot even get my address right- so I will never donate to them. The one charity I give to I just asked to send me two mailings a year and no more. Lets see how long that lasts.
Think I was able to get the machine issue straightened out. As this machine does so much, it also is a bit picky on some things....but I got it to sew just fine and do manage to learn more and more about it every time I use it. I am anxious to get done with these masks so that I can start giving free motion quilting a try on it. Gotta practice a lot however.

Sleep is such a curious thing. Last night was wonderful, but the two nights before were dreadful. Im not obsessed with anything so I don't know what's happening or why. I didn't nap during the day, but I was a bit loopy.
My yarn arrived for the brioche shawl, so I need to print out the directions and get out my circular knitting needles which I haven't had very long. In the meantime I've been playing with some variegated yarn that was in the same box.
Today is our warmest day of 2020. The high is 70. I'm glad it will be a little cooler. The woofers and I have done three walks today. I put in an order for meat and chicken at the butcher shop and will have hb's caregiver pick up a few groceries on Friday. I'm not ready to go out yet! Yesterday was the first day in our county of no active cases.

Sue, congrats to your area of having no active Covid cases. (Where I am is a long way away from that!). Three walks today sounds like you had a nice day....but for me 70 is a bit warm also.. That is so nice that the caregiver will pick up some groceries for you at the end of the week- will you pick up the items from the butcher or will the caregiver do that also? Hope that finding the circular knitting needles is not too big a process and that they are an easy find. Glad to hear that you slept so well. It surely is a blessing when we do. G

According to my thermometer it did get a little above 80 today and tomorrow is to be a record breaker. After that it cools down. I hope not too much but all my hoping is just wishful thinking.
Sue I'm glad you received your yarn. Now the fun starts. You're very fortunate to have not only a bucher shop in town but also someone that can go there for you and pick up your order.
CJ, I still haven't gone to the mailbox so don't know if I got a letter. I know there's nothing in my email or online banking to indicate it was even sent. I hope you will be able to get your cutting done without mistakes that will necessitate trying to find more hard to find fabric. From what I've seen on here you are very good at making quilts though.
Ginny, it's good to hear that there are smart people in the world that actually take the time ro learn about their machine. I know I should do that.
Here we have many days without new cases. I think they are preparing for a bunch to come though. I don't think it's really spread this way yet.
Sitting here looking out my window I see a large herd of pronghorm antelope. They will be another thing I miss if and/or when we leave this area.

Ruth, that must be quite something- viewing a hard of pronghorn antelope. I have only seen them in zoos and pictures....what a majestic sight for sure and of course you would miss that view. Each area has its own resident wildlife and its a joy to watch what lives in your region. It must be breathtaking to see the antelope and the mountains behind. That is very encouraging to hear that you have gone many days with no new cases. (In my area we are rejoicing because the daily number of new cases is falling to the low 100’s!)Think your area gets a good amount of tourism and I wonder how that will go in the summer months when tourists from all over travel . I hope and pray that summer traveling all over the nation does not cause an upswing in cases. Regarding your machine- I think you have a bernina? Check out www.sewingmastery.com. They have user videos of many machines, many different manufacturers. The videos of the Husqvarna machines are pretty good and usually only a few minutes long to get the viewer through the basics of starting with a new machine. I ended up with both DD’s here yesterday and their Dh’s and the grandkids. (We stayed outside on the deck). They gave me my Mother’s Day present early- an Apple Watch.....I told them I would not wear a life alert - but apparently an Apple Watch offers some similar features. Now I have to figure out how to use that. Ugh. But back to being outside- Dd#2 and her Dh stayed and were shocked by the number of different birds I get in my back yard. The little birds sure do keep me entertained. Got rain on tap today, so i want to get a walk in before it starts. BBL Ginny

That's an amazing gift..an Apple watch. When we were at the doctor's office they had a new resident there and she showed us the app that shows your EKG.

Ok, I ran out of the yarn I was making the set of dishcloths, potholder and towel holder with hidden ring. However I have a whole cone of a variegated that has some of that color or a VERY close match to the solid so I'm going with that. Dh ordered some things from Walmart in the night. If I had known I would have told him to order me some more of the plain. I think, though, that I'm happier with adding this variegated to the set.
I'm also getting yarn together to make my youngest grandaughter a blanket I think she will love. It's a baby blanket pattern but I can make it larger without any problem so want to make it large enough for her to use while reading...kind of a large lap blanket. I'm going to make each of the grands that have fall birthdays a blanket. If you see any interesting crochet blanket patterns for little boys let me know.Otherwise I think I'll make them with a nice stitch...maybe the one that's in the blanket pattern that you told us about, Ginny, and put appliques of cars or something like that on them. I've seen some really nice c2c's made with a graph of nice things in them but kinda lost track of where they were. Probably could look on pinterest.

Ruth, bet you DGD will love the lap afghan....and I know you will make it in her favorite color. Bet that will be a fun project for you- also making blankets for the other grand children.
Finished all the masks.....and I think worked out the glitches on using the free motion feature of the new machine.

I just have to wait and find out what her favorite color is. When I made them all those fingerless gloves they all told me what their favorite colors were except for this one and the one before here just said I should surprise her.
They got a big surprise. They've had their oldest dog for over 9 1/2 years. She roams around outside because they have 5 acres and the dogs never leave their property. Well someone else's dog must have left his property because my ds' family's dog just had puppies and they never even knew she was pregnant! This was the first time she's ever had babies. Unfortunately 3 died but there are 3 left

Well congratulations on being a grandma to a bunch of puppies!! I wonder what they will do with them- with 5 acres I guess its possible to keep all the little ones- but that is a lot of vet bills to spay/neuter. It does make a funny story though. And you know, some change their favorite color- I know one of my DD’s started out loving pink and then - in an abrupt shift- changed to purple. Purple lasted a long time however.
got a bit of crochet time in last night. Both DD’s came over last night to walk with me in the windy stormy weather. Good to see both of them- but I did not want to work on the machine that late so I crochetted
got a meeting with my financial advisor in 15 minutes. Gotta go. (Virtual- and remember I am not loaded but am in the process of swinging all over to my name- got a lot to learn!) BBL

Hello Crafters Sounds like everyone is doing well and I'm glad that no one in our families have gotten sick with the virus. Hope it can stay that way and we can get past this soon. Ginny - I'm glad you got the new machine working, I guess it takes a bit of time to get used to all the features and how it sews. We didn't have any snow this winter either, but April was a very rainy month. Hope you enjoy the Apple watch. Hope the financial advisor meeting went well too. Ruth - Seeing those antelope must be really wonderful, I'm glad you've had that enjoyment while living there. Sounds like you are busy with lots of projects, as always Sue - I'm glad you get out of the house on walks with your dogs. It's interesting buying meat from a butcher. We have a few shops around here like that but most people just use the grocery stores. I'm sure you get much better meats and choices at the butcher's shop. Phyl and Meg - Hope you are both well. It was rainy yesterday and this morning but now it's sunny blue skies and white clouds. I'm hoping May is a bit drier than April was. I don't know if I mentioned two small trees in my yard that seem to have died this past winter. I keep hoping they will come out, but no luck so far. I'll see what happens over the next few months. I got all the fabric pressed for that quilt I mentioned and I've labeled the pieces and laid them aside. I just need to start doing the cutting now. I re-read the pattern again and I understand it better now. I'm going to read it again before I start any cutting. It's a very "busy" pattern with lots of wording and diagrams and then you add in the cutting sizes and all the identified fabrics and it's just a lot Today was another clue from the Scrap Dance Mystery quilt I started in January, and it was quick so I finished the piecing for that this morning. There will be another clue in 2 weeks that will give the directions to put the quilt top together. Then I guess in Jun, Jul and Aug she'll give the backing, binding and quilting information. I just made the small table topper size, so it's been an easy project to do each month. If I like it when it's finished I may make another in different colors. The quilter running the Rainbow Scrap Challenge hasn't given the May color yet, so once I get that I'll have my may bowtie and hourglass blocks to make. Take care everyone and I hope you have a great weekend!

CJ, it sounds as though you have a lot of projects as well. Then you have the yard issue with the trees that might be dead. I have a very large bush like that. It's been slowing dying in spots the last few years but it sure doesn't show much life so far this year. Robins love making their nests in it so I hate to chop it down but it's an eyesore now. Dh also wanted to leave it because even with no leaves it does provide some privacy. It's going this year though.
I just went out to go to the mailbox and the vehicle I was going to drive down there in wouldn't start. I try to do a revolving thing with them to keep the batteries charged but I think it might have been awhile since that one was started. Dh will charge it when it stops looking like rain. At least I got my walk in.There was no letter about the EI check. We'll just have to wait and see what happens. Luckily unlike some people I don't need to have that check in order to be able to eat. The only thing I got from the gov't is another letter telling me to do the census thing.Guess I should do that and save the gov't some money on postage and paper sending me all these notices.

Good morning!!! CJ- you sure do seem to have a lot of projects lined up- gee that is great and your quilting fervor is inspiring. I too am anxious to see what color is color of the month for that stash busters/rainbow scrap challenge is for this month. Hope that who ever is running it is not sick and that is why there is a delay in posting this months color. My climate is sort of like yours....and I have a large maple tree that is showing no signs of being alive. Think spring has just not completely showed up here- perhaps this week. All that work you put in to labeling and ironing fabric for the quilt top will make things much easier for you, especially if you are unable to finish the project in a few days. Its a relief to come back to see that the project is well organized and easy to get back into. The Scrap dance mystery quilt sounds like fun- perfect for gifts too !!! Bet it will look pretty in many different color schemes.. Ruth, you can get the census done online and it very quickly stops the mailings. Also, I am not sure if we discussed this before, but go on a web site called “get my refund”. (Search for that) it takes you into the proper page of IRS.gov. There you can check your refund status- or as I had to do- register to get the refund. Not sure why I had to register, Lord knows I pay my taxes and we owed a fair amount to the IRS in 2018.....but its good to check if they know where your refund is- I know you are planning on using it for charitable purposes. The web page did update within a few days, I applied for my refund mid week and its already in the system that my refund has been applied for . Not sure when I will get it however. Hope that the car battery is ok....(does it need water added to it?). Speaking of trees, got a large tree that I hate to take down but will probably have to as its too close to the house. Dd is coming over today for laundry and to visit. Gotta go get my own single load of laundry started. Ds is back to work today and I really avoid going near his room (same floor as the laundry room) when he is home. So I will wipe down the laundry room with gloves...thank goodness they say Covid is killed in a normal laundry cycle. The next 10 days will be critical - hoping that Ds does not come down with the disease. Almost done with the free motion work on the baby quilt. Huskie seems to work well....now that I am slowly figuring out how it works!!! Ha ha ha Oh- I finally heard from my long armer. She is fine and has one more quilt ahead of mine. Looks like she should be done with it by the end of the month. She is a poor communicator....NEVER answers emails. But at least she did finally get back to me. BBL Ginny
