*snort* I'd love to be a fly on the wall right now.
I say good for Twitter. It's time, IMO, that social media companies started stepping up to the plate and taking some responsibility for monitoring what is posted on their platforms. I was not at all happy with Mark Zuckerberg's comments. There is so much blatantly false information posted on FB. I know it is a slippery slope, but I do think there needs to be some guidelines which are enforced. We don't allow people to yell "Fire" in a crowded theater when there is no fire. Why do we allow blatant lies and misrepresentations in social media from any side? They have the power to cause even more destruction.
I recommend the PBS series "Reconstruction" as context for what is happening now around the country with protests.
In other news: Lindsay Graham calls for conservative federal judges over 60 to retire now, before the election, so younger conservative judges can get in there. You know, life time appointments. He said (I'm paraphrasing) we can affect the makeup of the courts for generations this way.
lindsay graham is the biggest bootlicker of all. he strangely used to be very critical of trump and then suddenly turned a corner and magically started loving on his master. i guess trump's so on top of his blackmail game that he threatened to expose lindsay's closet. namely that he hasn't come out of it.
In the Wall Street Journal's top editorial today they came out against Trump's executive order about social media. At the end they said services like Twitter have a right to set community standards and to spike posts they feel are a violation. Then they said if this feels suffocating to Trump he should log off.
wow! good on them. i wouldn't have pegged WSJ to go that route but i'm glad they did. this guy cannot get a 2nd term. he just can't. he's now calling for the protestors to be shot. what a sick fuck this guy is.
i'm in a daze right now. i just watched the video of the saint paul police officer all covered up in disguise (but with very distinctive eyes) smashing the windows of autozone with a hammer. and this was before the actual destruction of stores started. he's inciting it. then he walks away and leaves and threatens to punch the guy who's asking him why he's doing that. his ex-wife has said the mask and gloves look like hers. saint paul PD is of course denying it's him.
then watched the video of CNN reporter and his crew being arrested by state patrol. for no reason. omar (the reporter) is black. white reporters nearby were left alone.
what in the crap is going on here!! i'm ashamed of this country.
yeah at this point anyone who supports trump can go suck an egg. how one can support the "white protestors=good guys if you only talk to them!" but yet the "looting will be met with shooting=thugs" taken directly from an anti-civil rights quote is completely and totally beyond me. anyone who supports him will be painted with the same brush. you hate blacks, you love ignorance. i'm over it.
he's been in this for his own attention and bank account from the get go. not to actually run a country.
God, remember the early days when we made quips like "elect a clown, expect a circus."? This has all gone so much darker and worse than I imagined when he got elected, and I imagined some pretty bad shit.
