Jae, I am from south Louisiana, and from the first word of SAH, the natives down my way were restless, bucking and rearing to go. I was a hermit before anyone told me to be, and I am good.
I have shopped for groceries. I usually only left my house about once a week. Since the shut down it has been closer to two weeks.
As to a vaccine, even if they come up with one, I do not think I am taking it. That's just my decision. I have never taken the pneumonia shot or the shingles shot. I did take the flu shot in 1998 and was sick all winter. Other than an eye problem, I have no health problems and am on no meds.

We now have three counties out of four that border our county that have Covid, increased by a county since yesterday, this Covid is slowly getting here like I said earlier in a post above, has not peaked here yet!
We are in our eighties with underlying issues, definitely high risk here.
This is not just the flu as stated above, talk to someone who's had it, it's horrible what our neighbors have been through for over four weeks! How do we make people understand?
We will probably never see normal again in our lifetime here in our house.
Do you think that handling this by each state deciding its way back into normal is correct, or should it have been done by the federal government, or is there a better way? What's your opinion?

Yes, there should have been a federal government policy. There should have been a pandemic team in place. Oh wait, there was one but it was recently disbanded. But, since there was no federal policy the states had to take it upon themselves. And in some cases the local governments had to do it as their governors didn't do anything.

You are correct, at this point it is your choice whether or not to be vaccinated for anything. But in some cases we get vaccinated not just to protect ourselves, but to protect those who cannot be vaccinated.
And, just a short story. My sister in law opted not to get the new shingles vaccine (the two shot one) as they were going to be going on the trip and she didn't want to deal with potential side effects. So guess what, she got shingles instead and suffered for months.

And Luanne, in 1996 I had the shingles. I could not afford to buy the meds, nor would I have taken them with all the side effects, if I could have afforded them. I did oatmeal baths. It lasted maybe two weeks. I did not have a bad case, I was very blessed there.

Some people in TX are apparently about as careless, thoughtless, and stupidly defiant as some of our residents in OC, CA. A friend from Texas just posted a picture of the beach in Galveston from today. People everywhere, cars everywhere and not one person in the shot wearing a mask. My friend says good luck to Houston in 2 weeks.

My sil, even after taking medication for it, was still in pain. One of my friends said she didn't care how much a cure cost, she would have paid it gladly. It also looks like if you've had shingles your chance of getting them again is very low.

finreporter I agree there are a lot of selfish defiant people in Texas and common sense went out the window on day 1 of this. My DH and I continue to wear face masks and try to stay away from others as much as we can but we don't have anyone to go get groceries for us and no delivery options available in the boonies so yes we still go to the grocery store. Even my local church decided to go back to services today but they are roping off every other pew and make sure there is plenty of distance between members of different households.I still don't comfortable attending plus I still can't keep my knee straight while sitting down for any length of time since knee surgery.I don't know yet when I will feel comfortable enough to go back because of Covid. I do wish they had waited until next month but then I didn't make the decision. They are still recording it so those who don't feel comfortable yet or those with other health conditions so we can still watch it even though we can't be there.

In person church service is not essential. That was very foolish of them to open up. I read about the strip club thing you mentioned. Also ridiculous to open that up.
If there is AC in any of those places it won’t matter how far people stand from each other in the same room. The virus can travel through the forced air of the AC system and transmit to anyone in the room.
Just plain foolishness on the parts of whoever is in charge of making these decisions.

finreporter I agree on it being too soon for in church services. However our idiot governor and his band of monkeys have decided as long as churches follow his guidelines they can open again.I did see a picture of the inside of our church and not many attended. Some had face masks and some didn't.I would not feel comfortable sitting near the ones who didn't. Our pastor did say if we didn't feel comfortable being there to please stay home.Nobody would think any less of anyone not there. He gets it but he has followed the guidelines since he closed the church and yes as the thread title says the natives are getting restless.

that's why i wish all the restless natives would get a taste of it to see this is no joke. it's just too bad they can then pass it on to people who did take it seriously.

I caught the president on tv this evening, it was just a minute or so.
I am the least political person on the planet so this is not for or against him but he looked bad, worn, exhausted.
I can't imagine the insurmountable stress. From one human being to another I hope he survives this.

The only change in Fresno CA is pet groomers can work but small business owners can apply to reopen whatever that means. Some restaurant owners and salon owners think they’ll open very soon but I’ll sit back and see how that goes Tomorrow will be our first day of week 8. Jennifer, I was thinking the same thing about Dr. Fauci.

as well he should. this is not a time for him to be playing around. you become president of the united states, you better be prepared to handle anything and everything that is thrown against you. this is what you signed up for.
