Phyl, my marigolds do leave a lot of seeds in the flower beds but none have ever come up the next year for me.I don't think this Asyluum would either. if or when I get some seeds for it I'll try it but it just gets way too cold here. I'll plant some on my Indiana property. There are daffodils there which I love!

Back to alyssum - there is a yellow variety that is a perennial. Baskets of gold. It blooms here in early June and is a welcome sight. Unlike the annual varieties, it has a very thick sturdy stem. It spreads a little, but it is not invasive. It's stayed on the front edge of the long raised bed along my driveway and I am able to pull off pieces I don't want.
There was some rain yesterday, a lot of clouds and some sunshine at the end of the day. There's sunshine now!
I've swept the floor, so it's time to do some mopping. Then I'll have to sit before I can finish.
I want some pansies but not badly enough to go get them!
There are lots of birds this morning: robins, evening grosbeaks, juncos, finches, woodpecker, northern flicker, and magpies and grackles.

Phyl- whenever you celebrate Mother’s Day, I hope it is a pleasant time for you and your family. Did you get any of that housework done??
Ruth, great news that the seeds germinated!Like you, I have never had marigolds that re seeded....but I also love daffodils and are happy to hear that the property in Indiana has some.
Sue, never heard of yellow Allysum- but I have seen and grown white and a soft purple. Glad you got some housework in....I do not usually get the evening grosbeaks until June- but the rosy breasted one has been here a lot in the past week. So nice to see the migration of the birds.
Cleaned some, and spent a lot of the day with Dd helping her with an online lesson. Got a few minutes to crochet in also. Cannot believe is snowed a lot today- my deck was covered!! What month is this? Ginny

I do remember it snowing back in NY in May but that was western NY on the lakes. I've never seen grosbeaks here. You would think that if they're in Montana they would be here too.
Ginny, I'm sure your dd appreciated the help and also your companionship while doing the online lesson planning. I'm glad to hear that you were able to get in a little crocheting too. When will you get your yarn order?
I started the blanket for dgd. It's a fun pattern but I'm going to start it over because I don't know that the pink and lilac will go well with antique white. I think it will be better with white, white. And I want to do the starting chain with a larger hook beause it seems to be a little too tight plus I kind of messed up a little and ended up with three too few chains.I compensated for that by increasing but now I'm wondering why my thinking is so messed up as I could have just pulled it out three stitches more and ended up with the correct number of mulitples and it would still be wide enough. Anyway it just doesn't look right...too pulled in on the two sides where the first and last chain are located.

Good morning and a very happy Mother’s Day to all. We are all here because of our mothers and all the women who helped raise us or befriend us to help us the women we are today. If you are a mom, hope that your family checks in and makes contact. My dearest friend has her birthday today also....so as my mom is gone I will be sure to be in touch with her to remind her of how special she is to me. Anyway, speaking of awesome women, thanks to each of you for befriending me and supporting me during what has been a somewhat difficult and awkward spring for me. I am proud to be “friends” with each of you and wish you all a wonderful day. (Meg, you are missed!)
Ruth, the female rose breasted grosbeak is a real plain Jane- looking like a large sparrow with the heavy grosbeak bill. If you saw the female, other than her size, you might not even notice her, as she is not very spectacular in appearance. Just checked my bird book, the rose breasted grosbeak will probably not be in your area - do not think they travel that far west, but the spectacular evening grosbeak, a bright yellow bird, could certainly be near you. Nice to hear that the pattern for DGD is a fun pattern and I hope it goes quickly Did you get very far before you decided it best to replace the antique white with white-white? Sounds like you are figuring out the glitches of the of the pattern and the blanket will be so adorable.
Will be making two cakes this am....one to serve here and the other to take to DD’s. I will be visiting Dd this am (socially distancing outside) and want to bring something over for Mother’s Day. I did order a plant for her, a Meyer Lemon tree, but that will not be here for a few weeks. Her birthday is at the end of this month, so this will be a combination Mother’s Day/birthday gift. I tried to find it locally, called a bunch of gardening shops/nursery’s and had no luck. So I had to order it.
My yarn is supposed to arrive Monday. I did get a little bit done on the afghan last night. Gotta get that baby quilt done too.
Have a great day- Ginny

Happy Mother's Day to all Mothers! Yes my mom is gone too. If alive she'd be 101 which is the age her mother was when she died. Mine died at age 80.Dh's mom is still alive (as far as we know). She's younger than my mother but is really up there in age.I have no plans for today. It will be like any other day.

I was just looking through bird info for this area and saw a picture of an evening grosbeak. We do have those but I just never knew what they were. We're supposed to have the red breasted grosbeak and blue grosbeak but I've never seen either one of those here. Most of what is around my home is eurasian doves, magpies, grackels, northern flickers, bluejays and stellar jays, western meadowlarks and the usual robins. As for all the little ones that are here I have no idea what they are. There are some ruby breasted finches or pink breasted finches...not sure what they're called and in summer we have hummingbirds which mostly look like ruby throated hummers. We supposedly have brown headed cowbirds but I've never seen one of those here but they were sure a pain in Arkansas so I'm glad we don't have them. The grackels are bad enough.Oh and we get orioles too. They look more like Baltimore orioles to me but they could be the other kind who's name won't come to mind right now.Oh, Bullock Orioles. I started the new blanket last night but didn't get far. I think I had four rows of the other completed and will keep that one and maybe finish it in all Antique white.Yes, I did get most of the glitches figured out but on the new one I also had extra stitches. The pattern is a youtube video and is only in Spanish so I may not have figured the multiples correctly.I don't speak Spanish so have no idea what she's saying except when she mentions numbers because I'm at a 2 year old level and can count to ten in Spanish

Hello Crafters - Happy Mother's Day to you all Sounds like everyone is busy with flowers and birds - I guess it's really springtime It's been a sunny weekend here and cool and a bit windy - nice weather for me. I finished the quilt top (from the pattern) and I'm happy with it. It went together pretty quickly once everything was cut. I was able to chain piece the courthouse steps blocks and I'd like to do another quilt sometime using that block. I had to piece several of the borders due to the size of the quilt. I don't usually like to do that, but I did it on the diagonal and I think they came out nice. Now I'll need to figure out what to work on next. Take care everyone and have a great day!

started getting colder and windy and rainy so we came home.the hot shower sure felt good.
Talked to dd in Ky today.Margie might call later.she had to work.
the weather is cold. about 43 and rainy and windy. we stayed home today. sounds like we will have a freeze through Tuesday.
I SURE hope we get to warmer temps where we don't have to have a jacket i want to wear tee shirts.
I have not gone to my playpen today. been on the phone, computer or watching tv. phyl

CJ- your quilt top sounds so pretty....like you I have always wanted to make a courthouse steps quilt...I am sure that you did a great job piecing the border, and with it done on a diagonal it will show much less. A creative as you are, I am confident you will find another project to work on!
Phyl, this weekend sounded busy for you...and a good time to stay in touch with everyone. Sorry about the cold weather, but sooner or later we will all be in hot summer weather, and not enjoying being too hot. I like your avatar. Its so pretty and spring like.
Had a busy day being outside and socially distancing....fortunately for me the weather was pretty nice. Guess tomorrow is not supposed to be so pleasant ginny
