I went and got my nails done last Friday (mani & pedi). Salons here were able to open up (Indiana) May 11. The place I go is now appointment only (they were walk in only) and have several safety things in place. Plexiglas barrier at the front counter and at the mani stations. Plastic dividers between pedi chairs. Customers are seated every other station. I had to wear a mask and sanitize my hands when I came in and again before he did my mani. It went well and there were no issues. I think there were maybe 4 other customers when I was there and 6 workers. I had my hair cut right before all the shut downs. I'm lucky where I only get it cut every 3-4 months and I'm working on growing it out!

A**hole guy at the salon today, ranting on how this is all bulls**t ranting political crap.
This is a client of one of the new girls. She made him check in and wear a mask, he was furious, kept hanging it off of 1 ear.
Omg made my blood boil. I only had 1 color and cut so I was out of there but what a friggin idiot. 🤬😡

luanne this is one of our new girls, I know she was frustrated with him but I'm not sure what she said. If it was one us I would have questioned her, I'm not quite there with the new girls yet. 4 out of the 6 new girls are working on Thursdays, I'm moving to Friday night.

I just wonder if he was a new client of hers, or one she brought with her. I totally understand that stylists don't get paid unless they have someone in the chair, so she might not want to offend or cut off anyone, but I'd also hope that if this client is going to continue to be a problem he'd be banned from the salon.

[/quote] New to our Salon but not new to her that much I could tell. All the chairs are out of the lobby so this ass bag is sitting on the window sill spewing his political opinion on the virus. Meanwhile my client is waiting in her car for me to call her in and we are to have 1 person at a time in the front of the salon to keep a 6' distance. I went up there and said, I'm ready to call my client in, our "new" receptionist jumped up to go outside to get her, he sat there. OMFG. Finaly he walked outside and I called my client in. I just can't tell you how pissed I was. That was a 1 time thing, I won't hold back if I see him again.

good, you are well within your rights to say something to him. such a selfish jerk. if you're able to, i would hope that for any clients who wear the mask hanging off the ear instead of wearing it properly that you guys can tell them to please put it back on.

Did anyone see Hair Cut Night In America on TV tonight? People who were not beauticians cut and tinted hair directed by beauticians over Zoom. Real cute show, wondered how many that got cuts and tints will wear hats tomorrow.😊

mac, I enjoyed the show. I was surprised to see Lindsay Lohan on the show and learned she's been living in Dubai for the past 6 years. She likes living there because it's illegal to have paparazzi there. I did some googling and learned she has her own make-up company and may be moving back to the US this year.

haha that cracks me up about lindsay lohan. i think she's safe to come back to the US now (well, after the covid-19 lockdowns i'm sure). safe as in, i'm not so sure the paparazzi is all that interested in her anymore. it's not 2005 anymore.

I spoke with my epidemiology friend about this and she said that a salon interaction is probably the last place one should be right now because even if your stylist has a mask on, it's not doing that much if she's breathing right on you for an hour or more, and you probably cannot cover your own face during the appointment. So we're going to hold off another month and see what the transmission rates are like between now and the end of June. That ought to be enough time to see if rates are increasing a lot because people are going out more and/or getting lax in their mask and distancing behavior. My hair can wait!

For places like hair salons, dentists and the like, I feel like they are taking more risk than I would. They will be masked. I won't be. And since salons haven't opened back up yet in New Mexico (won't until June 1) I'm not sure what requirements will be in place. I talked to my hairdresser and I think he told me everyone will be masked, stylists and clients alike.
