I have never seen one, except in bird books, and would love to! I just looked out the window and saw great big snowflakes, so I did the only sensible thing and got back under the covers! I'm going to have to get up because hb doesn't know how to turn on the heat and won't even think of grabbing a throw.

I started sewing again with masks, and I came across a fabric site that has a small selection but great prices. I got the fabric I ordered within a few days and it was exactly as pictured on the site. The site is: Girl Charlee

Will have to check that site out Rene. Someone else introduced me to Jordan Fabrics today...lots of quilting supplies.
Sue, don’t blame you for going back under the covers. Not one bit! (I had huge snow flakes on Saturday here). Did you get up, turn on the heat and then go back to bed??
Today must be my lucky day. Saw a Baltimore Oriole also....must be some sort of migration pattern.
Hobby Lobby yarn arrived. No excuses now to finish the afghan. Ginny

Rene, good to have you stop in. I'll have to check out that site. It's too early for Orioles here but I'm anxious to see some. There are no INdigo buntings in our area but I think I saw some in Arkansas. Spent the day trying to figure out a pattern that was on youtube. I think I got it figured out and there's nothing wrong with the pattern I don't think. Other people commented that they had the same problem and I think we all had the same idea that everything was supposed to line up then after spending about 3 hours figuring, I realized that sometimes you just have to trust the pattern and set your preconceived ideas aside. I'm going to work on it now and we'll see if I was right Made dh some more of those eggless oatmeal cookies. I'm so glad you mentioned them, Ginny, he loves them. Now if only they didn't have sugar

Ruth - Hope that you were right about that pattern- and that in just working it out, the pattern evolves just fine. There was a scarf pattern that I once found ( a really pretty one too!) that was probably been like that- had I stuck it out perhaps I would have gotten it. But you?? Got total confidence in your hooking ability and that this blanket will be perfect for your DGD. Did you ever get your order from Walmart?? Think you had mentioned that you and Dh were setting up a curbside order. Have personally never done that with Walmart, but my sister has (for her inlaws who live in another state). So glad that Dh loves that cookie recipe! Over time necessity has been the mother of invention and many times I have googled making a food without a key ingredient- as in eggless oatmeal cookies. I guess you could find a recipe that uses a “sugar” that has a lower glycemic index to make them a bit better....or sometimes I guess just use the regular recipe and enjoy in moderation.
My bird sightings yesterday were gifts from the Lord.....I do keep a log (the back pages of my bird book are intended for that) and neither the oriole or indigo bunting show up all that much. Just felt like a special treat that I did see both little birds! Got back to work on the baby quilt yesterday and will be pinning the binding on today.
Rene, I spent some time on Girl Charlee- thanks for recommending that site. They have a nice variety of fabrics. I like that they have a few patterns- which I hope they will expand to some simple girls dresses or some home dec items. So much I have to learn about ordering fabric online.
Gotta come up with my shopping list. Dd is going to the store today. BBL to see who checks in. Ginny

Ginny, yes some patterns are tricky and I had the same problem with a scarf pattern. I finally did exactly what they said and it worked. I made two but the second was awhile after the first and I had to go back and work it out again because I had forgotten what I really needed to do
I didn't get back to the blanket last evening and today so far was going to the local convenience store to fill up our gas tank and one thing that I had to go inside for. I used a mask but there were about six other customers in there and 3 clerks plus the one at the subway counter and the only person that had a mask on was the subway girl
Then we worked outside mowing, etc.

That is a shame that no one was wearing masks. I hope that as a society we do not become so complacent that it is forgotten how awful Covid is and how many lives it has taken.. In my county we are still losing about 8 people a day to Covid- and that is down from a previous rate. At least the person preparing food was wearing a mask.
Got a little work on the baby quilt today...most of the binding is attached and now I just have to attach the ends and then turn it over. I will be glad when the quilt is done.

the person you're making the baby quilt for will love it. and I agree about the birds. Surely the work of the Lord!
I finally got my order put in for walmart curbside pickup. What a task that was. Many things were limited to 2 of the item and some were out of stock. Others didn't say out of stock but when you went to check out you were told th4ey were. When I finally got my list ;put together each time I was about to submit my order they mentioned something else not being in stock. So I'd go back and get a replacement taking less than 30 seconds then back to checkout where yet another item was supposedly out of stock.this happened 4 times before I gave up and quit looking for replacements and just put in the order. Eggs for instance was one tthing out of stock so I picked a different egg and ended up with both on the list because th4e first ones were not out of stock after all. and all this happened after I had everything all set hte first time and then found they had my store's location as Missoula, Montana! I changed store location to mine and my list was gone. Had to do it completely over and found that we have a different inventory and some things were not out of stock after all. Some things are different prices too than in Missoula. So then the fun I mentioned above began. I almost ended up with 2 18 packs of eggs and 3 cartons of a dozen each. Luckily I found that in time or would have had to start gifting eggs to the neighbors.we use a lot of eggs but not that many!
Haven't done any crafting yet. I'd better start or won't get any done.

Oh Dear Ruth!!! So sorry that it was such a hassle getting that order in to Walmart. I have had the same issues ordering from them- finding that stuff disappears right before my eyes and what was available when I started the order is no longer there. The other issue I have seen is that the delivery dates have vaporized....found that happen when I was ordering stuff for the grandkids for Easter. An item appeared to be available on time for that date, and when I finally clicked the order in the delivery date changed. Had that happen with Amazon and hobby Lobby also. Speaking of HL- they did restock very quickly on the yarn (which is here already) and- 2 weeks later- they did respond to my email. It just sounds like many businesses are trying hard to adapt to this very strained and different business model. I hope that the Walmart order is perfect and ready when you need it. The local supermarket chain here keeps record of what you ordered previously. The first time or two that an order is put together its painstaking and annoying....but subsequent orders go much more quickly where you can click back into a list of items previously purchased and select those items...much easier. Good luck with it all.....as much as I miss going into the store, there is also something really super nice about sitting home in your jammies and “shopping”. Did you get any crafting in yesterday? And I went back a bit in your posts....sorry that the scarf pattern gave you a headache-but I guess your persistence is proof that by patiently working through good directions really does work. I am sure you will do well with that afghan pattern.
Gotta head out for an errand this morning. Then might work on the quilt....I lost patience with it last night.
Hi to Sue, CJ and Phyl- Rene good to see you stopping in - and Meg, you are missed.

gramma15, it's the same here (Texas South of Houston). My husband and son both wear masks, and have been since this started, any time the have to go into a public place. One of my husbands co-workers "doesn't believe" in wearing them and he has a teenage son who is on a kidney transplant list. I can't imagine how he would cope if he infected the kid, you know? I made a dozen more masks today for them both. Son was giving them to his co-workers and DH uses 1-2 a day. I have a ton of cotton fabric, so I'm trying to make it so we don't have to do a load of laundry every couple of days for the masks lol.

I finally have some masks, just in case I have to go somewhere. A friend has been cranking them out, and she stopped by yesterday. We spent a few minutes talking outside.
A friend called today. Her children talked to each other, and the one who lives closest "kidnapped" her for the duration, so instead of being trapped in a tiny room senior living place, she's now in a beautiful setting with one of her sons and dil. I think that is a really good story that is true! She had two hours notice to get ready.
