Ginny, the scarf wasn't a headache but I did learn something from making it. I gave up on the blanket I was working on. The one in Spanish went real well. I'm not done with it of course but I set it aside for now and was working on a wavy ripple with puff stitches. There is no way I can see that it would work out mathmatically. I tried 5 times and it didn't come out right so got rid of that one and found another that looks very complicated but isn't at all so I worked on it yesterday and last evening.
We went out again today. We picked up the order from WAlmart. It seems to be all good. You stay in your car and they put everything in your trunk or backseat whichever you like. The girl that brought our order out had a mask on. Before we went there we went thru Little Caesar's drive thru as they were having a sale today. The person that came to the window had no mask or gloves. There was no plastic shield like I heard that most fast food places have now and there was no credit card reader which I heard they were all using so they wouldn't have to handle money.Anyway now we can stay in again for a few weeks. Going out was exhausting..just the anxiety it produces. We had spray alcohol with us and also hand sanitizer and we had our own masks. Dh has really become quite a germophobe in the last couple years so this really has him stressed...that he saw so many not taking any precautions.

Gee, I am sorry it was so stressful an experience...but I do understand. Its insane that some take precautions so lightly and do not wear masks or gloves. What a poor corporate image to present to the public

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today Seems like everyone is hanging in there, dealing with the virus. I sure hope that this summer things are a bit closer to normal. I've had to deal with some bugs in my power room, but after a few days of bug spraying and clearing everything out of there I think I have them gone. I've shut the room up and I'm going to leave it another day and then go in wipe things down. Lots of fun I finished a small quilt top - only 23x29 inches. This was from an uncompleted project I picked up on a guild table at a quilt show. There wasn't enough fabric in the package to finish the full size of the quilt which was a crib size. But I did have enough for 6 blocks (pink and white) and 6 solid white blocks and a 3 inch pink border all around. If we ever get to go back to quilt shows again I'll pass on these things because I've found most of them don't have everything for the project in the bag you buy. But I did get a pattern and this small quilt top out of it for only $5 - so it was a deal I looked through the other quilt kits I've bought over the years and have about 10 more that have patterns and fabrics, so I might start working on those. Should make it easy not to have to pick the fabric. Hope all of you are getting some crafting in and having nice weather. We're supposed to get a day in the 80s tomorrow - not my favorite weather I like it cooler. Take care and have a good weekend!

CJ, the baby quilt top sounds really cute. What kind of blocks does it have? I know you and Ginny don't like hot weather and just this morning my dh mentioned it will be 81 on Monday and he's not looking forward to that but then mentioned that it's a lot better that it's dry here and not humid like in other places.
I did do a little crocheting before dh got up. Now I have dried beans in my instant pot and the rest of the chili ingredients simmering on the stove. I also have a carrot cake in the oven. I just put in a load of laundry. Now I'm just waiting for everything to cook and bake. I want to let the beans sit in the instant pot to get softer then I'll add them and let it simmer awhile. Now I'm going to take a crochet break.

A crochet break....gee that sounds nice Ruth. Bet Dh was/is happy. Isn’t carrot cake one of his favorites.?
CJ sorry you had trouble with extra house guests in your power room. Its encouraging to hear that you have not so politely asked them to leave and that the problem seems to be gone. Indeed its that time of year in which lots of little creepy crawly bugs try to invade our homes. Making a small quilt top for only $5 is a deal, but I do agree with you that it seems too small to be practical. It sounds very spring like and pretty though and perhaps inspires you to use that design for another larger quilt top. And I agree that its easier if you do not have to select the fabric - if its a kit.
Like CJ - its going to be in the low 80’s tomorrow. I did some gardening today (not my favorite) to try to get that done knowing that it will be hot tomorrow. Honestly I will probably quilt tomorrow to get me out of the heat. I am heading to a nursery tomorrow am also to pick up some garden supplies (curbside pick up- I placed the order already).
See ya tomorrow. Ginny

It's lots warmer today, but that's all relative! The high was 60, a perfect temperature for me! I've walked outback with the woofers a few times and keep sneaking over to the kitchen door to see what's at the feeder. The different species seem to be taking turns! This afternoon the chickadees had a turn, and there were six of them.
My fun for the day included ordering some bags of bird seed of a variety of kinds. It's been several years since I've put out a lot of bird feeders. Then I made a large Amazon order for food items. Not from the pantry which I don't care for. Then J came by to deliver milk and vegetables.
Things are starting to open up. hb has an appointment with the opthalomologist next week. I changed it to June. He should have cataract surgery, but he doesn't want to. I'm not sure how he's able to read, but he does. The doctor is concerned about his pressure, but with eye drops, it doesn't seem to be getting worse.

Sue, good move to change. Dh’s ophthalmologist appointment for a slightly later date- but with where you live the incidence of Covid is not all that great. Still better to be safe and I don’t blame you. Guess the ophthalmologist can assess how his cataracts are progressing- I do know that surgery for cataracts is done earlier in their growth than it used to be. My mom had hers done 20 years ago and they waited until they were quite “ripe” (the term my mom used). She was very functional until they were done....but of course much better after the procedures. Birds are so much fun aren’t they?? My Dd #2 when she comes over rushes to see what is on the feeder....guess I have her hooked on the hobby. I get chickadees too, but think that the ones I get live here year round. Glad you got your milk and veggies.....and that amazon food order in. Nice to have everything you need brought to you like that.Totally agree with you- 60’s are perfect weather.
Heading to the low 80’s here today (yuck). So I will get my walk in now....then am heading to the garden center to pick up a few items. Thankfully its all outside....and the governor has finally started opening up businesses like that. Think home arrest for me will continue until June 13.
Hope to get back to finish the baby quilt today when it is too hot to be outside.

Ginny, I've thought about this being one of the safest places in the country. The members of my quilting group are getting enthusiastic about meeting outside where spacing isn't a problem. A bring your own chair, beverage, and snack arrangement. I'm not on board for that. My yard has multiple suitable sitting spots which would be perfect, but virtually everyone has to use the bathroom during our gatherings. Most of the others have enough garden space. There would always be the parks, but it still boils down to bathroom facilities which are currently locked. And a group where all but one are over 75.
I guess I'm waiting for things to open up a little more to see what happens then. Right now, one can enter Yellowstone via Wyoming but not Montana. People entering Montana are supposed to self quarantine for 14 days. I know that's not happening all the time.
This is a time of year when rain is frequent so it's still a non-issue. It's raining right now, but I've already been outside. Yesterday I noticed that the blossoms are about ready to make an appearance on the Canada red cherry trees!
I may be back later.

Hello Crafters Ruth - The blocks in the pink and white quilt are a version of a 4 Patch and Nine Patch. There are 4 Patches in each corner and the say the block is sashed together it forms a 9 Patch in the center. I'm not sure if this was a made up pattern, or an old quilt block pattern, but it's pretty in 2 colors. Hope your chili and carrot cake came out well Ginny - Hope your weather isn't too hot. It's hot and humid here, fortunately I can stay in. Hope you get the baby quilt finished too. Sue - Hope you enjoy seeing all the different birds at your feeders. Also hope that your quilting group can figure out what to do about meeting again. Phyl and Meg - Hope you are doing some crafting. I checked the bathroom today and there are still some bugs in there, but I think the spray is killing them. I cleaned off the sink area - where most of them are - sprayed again and shut the room up again. I'll see what the next few days brings. I'm just hoping not to have to deal with getting an exterminator. Maybe the weather change will get them out and all killed so I can be done with them Today is the last clue of the Scrap Dance Mystery Quilt I've been participating in - for putting the top together. I'm pretty happy with how my blocks came out (just need to sew the two new ones together and then join them) - there are only 4 for the table topper. I think a larger quilt would be pretty and also some brighter colors than my fabrics are (faded blues, reds and whites). She said next month will be some border options. I may start another one of these and make it a bit larger. I also pulled out 4 quilt kits of the 3 Yard Fabric quilts (Fabric Café) that I've mentioned before. I didn't realize I had 4 of them. I'm going to press all the fabrics and lay them out. I read through the patterns. Two of them are pretty basic, but the other two were a bit more involved. And since you have so little fabric you have to join your border strips and some of your cutting strips need to be joined too. It will be interesting to see how they go together. Two of the kits have Christmasy type fabric and the other two are floral types. Hope you and your families continue to stay safe and well. Have a great weekend!

Sue I'm glad you're enjoying so many birds. Here in Wyoming people that come in are supposed to self quarantine too but I doubt they do it. From what I saw when I finally went out the other day, there aren't many that are heeding any precautions at all.Yes this is our rainy season which is mainly a joke because it never rains much here ever.
CJ, those blocks sound really nice. and the kits you found will be fun and interesting andmaybe help you learn evenmore abuout quilting or making certain blocks
Ginny, I hope you got in your walk before it got too hot. You'll be happy when you getboth blankets done. It's such a good feeling to see something completely done
On the last baby blanket I was working on I decided I couldn't live with the jerry rigged fix of the extra stitches in the first row so I ripped it all out and started a different one which is a really nice pattern and it's coming along very well. It's another that looks complicated but isn'tat all. And since it's for the dgd that likes pink, purple and teal,I'm making it with two shades of pink and too purply colors with white as the main color. No teal though because my only teal is quite dark and Idon't think it would look right.I may try a row of it and see.

Ruth, I am sure you will figure out the best color combination for DGD’s afghan based upon what you have on hand. Patterns that look complicated but really are not are my idea of a great pattern.
CJ- so do you think you will take on the floral fabric quilts or the Christmassy ones?? Or will the decider be the level of difficulty ?? I sure hope that your efforts to rid the bathroom of the bugs works.....sometimes there are natural ways to get rid of them too, that is if you have right stuff in the house. Good luck getting rid of them.
Sue- I totally agree with you regarding guild.....perhaps it would not be so bad to go, but plan on staying just to say hello and leave before needing a restroom is an issue. Some folks don’t get it....and they might sort of follow the letter of the law but miss the intent of the law. I saw some nut today who wore his mask over his mouth but his nose was exposed completely. Why bother wearing one then??
Yes got the walk in. Went to the nursery - which was not as successful as I had hoped. Now I am stuck going to Lowes. Think I will place an order for pickup from Lowes, then I do not have to deal with being in the store.
It was warm here today....looking forward to the rain and the cooler weather on tap for tomorrow. Ginny

Ginny, I've seen that on tv...people having on masks but not having their nose covered....People do some strange things. I'm glad you were able to get your walk in.Sorry about the nursery not having the plants or items you wanted. There's a woman on the other thread I post on who went to Menard's I believe it was to buy plants and was disappointed in their selection.
Strange thing happened the other day. I got an email from Mary Maxin talking about clearance on Red Heart With Love Yarn and some other RH. So I went to the site and had $29 worth in my cart so I went to see what the shipping charges were. Well it was going to be $16.99!! I sent them an email saying that I was going to order but the shipping is way too high so won't be ordering after all. I got a response that in great length told me why shipping was so much and then they gave me a coupon for $5 off. I still thought $11.99 was too much so just didn't order.Well the very next day...yesterday...they sent me an email saying that if I completed my order shipping would be free. So you know what I did....yep, added more yarn and ordered. They didn't have much of a selection but I ordered some that will go with yarn I already have. It will probably take forever to get here but I'm not in a hurry. They warned several times that shipping time would be prolonged due to short staff because of the virus. Prices were good so it was worth the wait. I like the with love yarn. It stays soft after crocheting and I also ordered some RH comfort yarn which is also soft.

Wow that is some deal from Mary Maxim!! Been a long time since I have ordered from them. And I totally agree, $16.99 is absurd for a yarn order like that. I was shocked I got my MSQ fabric- about a week from when I ordered it. Glad you were able to get the yarns that you like. Are you ordering for a specific project or because of a good sale??
Forgot to mention- the long armer called and she is starting to work on my quilt! I am excited.....looking forward to seeing it in a week or so. G

Ginny, I'd be very excited too. I hope it turns out even better than your expectations. Receiving your order was, indeed, very fast! Have you decided what you're going to make with the fabric kit?
Kind of a rainy day here but not a lot of rain just a few drops every now and then and it keeps changing from overcast to sunny. If I can tear myself away from crocheting I'll do some housework and/or organizing

Oh Ruth- sometimes it sure seems silly to tear ourselves from crafting to do housework, right? A kind or rainy day is just fine- not good enough to make you want to go outside but not crummy enough to make you feel lousy. did you work on DGD’s Afghan?
