Outside with a lovely fire in the firepit....Dd was here today, so it was a busy day. Got my house vacuumed....and this is really the first I have gotten to sit and relax and check email. I have no clue what I am going to do with the fabric I just got. Think I am gonna just check out MSQ youtubes and see what inspires me.
Got some bad news earlier....my favorite quilt show and my favorite county fair are both cancelled this year, thanks to Covid. The fair (in mid August) would have been a nice piece of normal in what seems like a very abnormal year. Oh well, I will miss the quilt exhibit....and walking around to see the animals with the grandkids. Guess we will have to wait for next year.

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today and that you and your families are staying safe and well. Ginny - I'm really missing all the quilt shows this year too. By now I would have been to one in March, April and one coming up in a few weeks and then in June. They are all great shows and I sure hope we can have them next year. Sue - Hope you enjoy the movies Ruth - Glad you got a good deal on that yarn order Phyl and Meg - Hope you are getting some crafting in. It's been warm here for two days and made the house hot. I've pulled a few fans out and that has helped with some cooling. I'm trying to hold out with putting the AC units in use. I started on one of the 3 yard quilt kits. I already pressed all the fabrics for all four of them. The one I started is the easiest one, here's what the pattern looks like: www.fabriccafe.com/Simply-Blocks-3-Yard-Quilt-Pattern-p/090935.htmMy kit has a deep faded teal with flowers as the main fabric - it's almost old fashioned 1800s look fabric design and the other fabrics are a faded rose pink and a brighter aqua. The aqua fabric is heavily covered in glitter and when I started pressing it glitter was getting everywhere so I decided to pull out that fabric and I substituted a deep purple fabric of my own. I like the three fabrics together and I'm glad I pulled the aqua. I'm still picking little pieces of glitter off my ironing board I was piecing the blocks for this quilt - there are 20 all together - and when I was on the last block my sewing machine cut off. I thought "On NO!" and checked for a power outage but it wasn't that. Then I checked the power cord going into the sewing machine and it was loose. What a relief! I would hate to lose this machine, I love it I've been dealing some "house" issues - bugs in one small bathroom and birds getting into an outside vent. It's just exhausting. Also, the remote control on one of my cable boxes isn't working all of a sudden and I can't get it to reset. Fortunately I have another TV to watch, but the one I like to use is where I have a loveseat so it's more comfortable. Nothing to really complain about, just a small irritating problem I meant to give you a link to the Scrap Dance Mystery Quilt I mentioned so you can see some almost finished pictures of the quilt blogger's quilt: frommycarolinahome.com/2020/05/15/scrap-dance-twist-step-7-the-reveal/It was an easy few blocks to put together and I like her fabrics. I can imagine it in many different colors. Take care everyone!

Ginny, sitting at the firepit sounds wonderful. There's one on my property in In and the grandchildren toasted marshmallows at it last weekend. I think, though, that it's one that the previous owners built themselves not a formal one but guess I'll find out sometime.
Sue, My thermometer is up to 80 already and they hadn't mentioned it being this high today in the forecast. And I guess we'll have to get going on the mowing soon too. We did a little bit the other day with the push mower. Now it's time for the serious mowing with the lawn tractor.
CJ I love that dance twist quilt!! The other is wonderful also but the dance twist is my favorite of them. It's a good idea to take out that glitter fabric. My sister sent me t shirts with glitter on them when she was travelling and it was a real pain. I never wore them because the glitter would get everywhere.

Yes, CJ the dance twist quilt is so unique! Good thing that they give good directions....its really not a difficult quilt but because of the twist it looks difficult. thanks for sharing- and I really enjoyed the spring colors used in the quilt you provided the link for. I really like the simply blocks quilt...it relies heavily on the beauty of the fabric- and boy that stinks that the one fabric had so much glitter. How frustrating- I do not blame you for taking the glitter fabric out. That you were able to replace the fabric is awesome- Think we all have had that sick feeling when a much loved sewing machine acts up. SOOOOO happy for you that it was such a simple fix. 2 weeks ago, i had issues with the bedroom TV remote- it was blowing through batteries in 2 or 3 days. Brand new batteries. It took them 2 weeks to get it to me, but the replacement remote just came. Call your cable company and demand a new remote.
Sue- hope you had a nice day and enjoyed your John Wayne movies. 70 sounds pleasant.....just on the border of being too warm but still nice.
Ruth, I love my firepit- and I am glad that your Indiana has one. I am sure that you and Dh and the grandkids will enjoy it. And thatโs ok if its just an informal one....just so much fun to build an outside fire on a summer evening.
Busy day....I got up and after I went to church (online) I went to Lowes to get some gardening supplies. I was there early - it was not crowded. Then I took myself for a walk at the lake on the way home...ended up meeting Jane (pastors wife/quilting buddy) for another walk. Dh #1 came over with the grandkids and we stayed outside....and I made a little fire for them and roasted marshmallows for them. So it was a busy day but a good one.
gotta work on the baby quilt tomorrow. WIth my BOM coming home soon, I have to finish this quilt so I can turn my energy into the BOM.
Looks like this will be a challenging summer. No Memorial Day parade (something dh and I always attended), no craft fairs, no state fairs....no free summer concerts.....funny for Dd she says it would be hard for her to do most of those things without Dh- for me, those normal things would help me move on.
Where did this week go?
Have a good night Hi to Phyl! ginny

Almost every Thursday I wonder how the time has gone by so fast and now here it is Sunday and tomorrow a new thread already. You would think that time would go by very slowly these days but that doesn't seem to be the case with me. I'm not sure what they're planning here as far as fairs go. I think that Frontier Days in Cheyenne is still on, at least for now. People here wouldn't be happy if the county fair is cancelled because the opening day is a big deal to some. Everyone gets the day off or at least a few hours to watch the parade. Parade day is a huge drinking day here so all the people that like to indulge anxiously await an excuse to be drunk and stupid.Anything else I know nothing about being that I'm a hermit We've actually had quite of few new cases of covid lately and one more death. Still the death count is only 8 for the whole state. It stayed at 7 for a long time and just this weekend the 8th death occurred. Of course we only have about 500,000 people in the whole state. Businesses are opening back up and I think the park is opening on a limited basis so that will bring many out of staters here but luckily that's not near me. Yellowstone is about 400 miles from here although since people travel thru sometimes to get there they could bring little viruses with them.Anyway so much for the governor's rules that people from out of state have to self quarantine for 14 days unless they're quarantining themselves in a cabin there. Roasting marshmallows for and with the grandchildren is a lot of fun. We did that one time when I went to visit ds and his family. We made smores and since I love smores myself I had as good a time as they did.
