OOPS! looks like I have been missing a lot around here lately. This morning I went and had my hair cut. Then in the afternoon I went to see my 92 yr. old friend who lives in a very upscale senior facility. She is very frail and her son is taking her to live with him in Mich. He is a retired Dr. and has a beautiful new home he built on the lake. So I wanted to say good bye as I will not see her again as they leave tomorrow. We have been friends for 43 years.
I did some knitting and listened to an audio book before dinner. After dinner I watched the news and did some more knitting. I want to get this b/blanket finished and move on to something else.
We had some rain here today but sunshine between showers.
Phyl, I see you are keeping busy as usual. You said you were going to cut back on your charity work for awhile and do something for yourself. I think that's a good idea we all need a break once in awhile.
Ruth, that's a good idea to have 2 vehicles then you can get about no matter what. I used to love Cadburys chocolate but haven't had any for ages. I don't think I have tried the Ghirardelli. Now you have aroused my interest.
I need to go to bed. I am sure you are all tucked in for the night. Good night.
cj, I have a lot of days when the time slips by and I don't get much done. But I guess that's ok. You really seem to accomplish a lot. I have got a lot of reading done.

Meg, good to see you back. I looked last night but you hadn't posted before I went to read my online book It's so sad when our friends move far away. I'm glad you got to see her before she left for Michigan. I had a very dear friend down in Arkansas and when I sold my little house there I knew I would never see her again. She was like a sister to me and I had only known her about four years but she was SUCH a great woman. She wasn't much older than me but she had many medical issues and within about a year after that last visit she passed away. She had lived all her life in such poverty but she was a person who completely trusted in the Lord and had a true childlike faith. I know she's with Jesus now and enjoying every second. She loved God with all her heart. Ghiarardelli has quite a few flavors in their chocolate bars and besides this caramel one with milk chocolate thay have a dark chocolate with salted caramel and in bags they have another caramel which is salted too. Only the plain caramel and the dark chocolate with raspberry were 74 cents..the others were the usual $3 and caramel is my favorite so that worked out great for me. I had a couple squares of it last night and it was as good as I expected. Meg, is the baby blanket you want to get finished the one you mentioned the pattern for?. I forget the name you said but it's the one you switched to after trying the crocheted chevron. Ginny, CJ, Phyl, I hope you all have a great day. I'll bbl. I'm going to work on gloves and look up some yarn I want to use then when dh wakes up I'll do some actual housework before I settle down to crochet again and cut my floss for bracelets. Ginny, I forgot to mention....yep, what you did was crafting And I did look back and found the instructions you mentioned for the braceletss with the lengths and all so I'm all set with that.

Ginny, I thought since you have small grandchildren you might like to see the penguin bowling set I made for my grandson who is now 3. It's not hard but is time consuming and there was an obvious mistake in the first stitch of one of the rows but I can't remember which one. The penguins have a lot of little parts with the beaks, bibs eyes, etc.I made this a couple years ago because he loved rolling balls at things. bittersweetblog.com/2009/01/19/not-quite-duck-pins/I just checked the pattern and she never did correct. One of the comments was from a woman who was trying to make these and had the same problem I did. I had posted that in the row before you put on the safety eyes she calls for and stuff the head that insead of sc 3 together you sc 2 together and the woman that posted about the problem saw it and thanked me but the pattern designer didn't say anything and didn't correct. I'm sure she saw it too because she did post an answer to someone below my comment. I made six penguins and the ball I used wan't a tennis ball that she suggested, I think it was a little bigger than a tennis ball so I didn't use her pattern for the ball I just made up my own...basically she and I both made a cover for a ball.Anyway I made it for his 2nd bday and all his six older sibs bowled with him They have a nice crochet fishing set for little kids but it uses a stick and I can see little ones poking themselves in the eye or their siblings or friends in the eye with that stick so I'm not making that one. Nice idea though if there was actually a safe way to make a fishing pole

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today Meg - I'm glad you were able to see your friend before she moved away. I hope it was a wonderful visit and I'm happy you've had her as a friend for so many years. Ruth - As always, I love your new avatar - so Springtime Ginny and Phyl - Hope you are doing well. I did a little more hand quilting on the single block I've been practicing on, and hope to finish that today. Then I think I'm just going to pull the backing fabric up and bind it to the front of the block. I don't want to both with adding a binding when I can do it this way. I just came back in the house from walking around in my yard. It's a nice sunny day here, just cool in the 40s, but I thought it would be good to go out and get some fresh air. I stay in the house too much. Take care everyone!

Good afternoon everyone, I was up and out early this morning. I took Devin to school and then went for my iron infusion. I took Devin to school and then went for my iron infusion. Guess what ? they could not get any blood so I will have to go back again next week. Today should have been the last one. The swelling on my upper arm is still swollen. I have been using ice packs but the nurse told me that I should have just used the ice for the first 24 hours and then used heat. So I will use my heating pad and see if I can get this swelling to go away. The bruise is slowly beginning to disappear.
Ruth, I have 2 b/blankets that I have been working on. The one I am trying to finish is the diagonal pattern, I've I made dozens of b/blankets using that pattern because it is mindless knitting. I still have to finish the other b/blanket and I haven't touched it for a couple of weeks but I will get back to it. I seem to waste a lot of time lately on the computer looking at patterns. The chocolate sounds good. I try to avoid it.
cj, it is good to get outdoors and now that spring is in the air perhaps we can all find the time and energy to get out of the house. Ginny I will check back later to catch up with you. Phyl, I hope you are enjoying good weather and are able to get out and go. I know you are a goer.
Have a great day.

Good morning!! Yesterday ended up being much busier than I had ever expected....I never got a break.
Ruth- thanks for the link for the bowling set- I will check it out later on when the day is over. Sounds adorable...and I have heard several times about pattern designers that do not adjust their patterns to real life use to correct mistakes. I agree with CJ- your spring avatar is adorable.
CJ- so glad you were able to get out and get some fresh air! Spring is really coming! On a wall hanging that I made 5 years ago, that is how I made a binding- by bringing the back around to the front. It does make for a nice mitered corner!
Meg! Oh, I am sure that you wish you were done with these iron infusions. But you will be next week. Yes, application of heat now will help circulation and stimulate healing. Are you out of pain now? So glad you got to see your friend before she moves....a very dear friend of mine moved abou 25 years ago- I felt her loss in my life for a long time.
Phyl- you must be busy creating and crafting! Hope all is well.
I am so thankful it's Friday. This has been a crazy long week. DDs house came through the inspection well. (Thank you Lord!) and the sale will proceed. They are having their house to be inspected on Sunday, which I also pray goes well. Ds said the interview was grueling- and he is doubtful that he will be given this additional assignment becasue he is the least senior person to apply. I am trying to convince him that you learn from all experiences....do not think he is seeing it that way yet.
Yesterday, I did- in a few short minutes- make a little bracelet for DGD who was having a tough day. I used her favorite colors, pink and purple and a sweet little bunny button for the closure that I had in the house.
Hope that this weekend is calm.....we do have some plans for tomorrow- but I do hope to get some crafting time in. Have a great day! Ginny

hi it is cold and rainy here. didn't got o wi because I have been awake since 2.will go tomorrow.
yesterday I finished the 16 patch blocks. there are still some squares left. there are some squares left. I figure 20 blocks is enough.
very early this am I fogged the bb. I measured the width and it was way wider then it should have been. it is called play pack size. so I now have 113 stitches on my needles instead of 143. there are 3 measurements to this pattern. so I think the smaller one will work better
have a good rest of the day. phyl.

Ginny, I've prayed a prayer of thanks that the inspection went well and have prayed about your ds' assignment. We do know that the Lord does what's best for us and that's not always the same as what we want.
I know your dgd loved that bracelet. I found another box of buttons in my craft room the other day but most are too small for the bracelets I think. Some are so old. Some are ones my aunt gave me many years ago and the pictures on them reflect the times. I know there are some people that collect old buttons and would maybe love to have these but I don't know any of those people personally. Now I'm off the subject. How old is your little dgd...I've forgotten. I'm glad I'll have a little dggd to make those kind of things for as my youngest dgd is now 5 and growing up fast.
Phyl, Yes I never go to the extreme of looking at the gauge of a pattern to determine how big it's going to be if I cast on or chain what the pattern calls for so have often had to frog things because of it. I hope your knitting goes well now
I hope all of you have a day you enjoy and one in which you can really relax and do what you want.
Meg, I hope all goes well next week and you can finish up the series of iron infusions and I do hope your arm is healed soon.
Weather is beautiful here today. Only 52 but sunny and no wind.

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well Meg - I'm sorry to hear your arm is still swollen, I hope the heat will help it. Ginny - I bet your DGD loved that bracelet, it sounds so cute. Phyl - Glad to hear you got your quilt block done and are working on another project too. Ruth - Glad to hear your weather is nice today. I finished my three weekly blocks today, they were pretty easy this week. The only thing I didn't do was one of them requires some applique and I'm thinking about just doing a blanket stitch hand applique. If I leave the applique off, the block is kind of plain. I've done a Honey Bee block before, it's actually one of the blocks in my hand pieced sampler quilt. Here are links to this weeks blocks: Pat Sloan Solstice Quilt - www.ilovetomakequilts.com/ - scroll down to see pictures of the Honey Bee blocks done so far. Moda Blockheads - www.facebook.com/groups/253867175058745/NQC Snowy Day Quilt - Sorry, but I can't figure out how to link to this since they send info via email. I'm really excited because this weekend is the first local quilt show of the season. I'm planning to go tomorrow morning to look through the items donated by the Guild members, there are always some good deals there. Then I'm going on Sunday with my sister-in-law to look at the quilts and we are also each going to get a quilt appraised by an appraiser who will be there. So it should be a fun quilty weekend.

CJ, your weekend does sound like it's going to be very enjoyable. I just love looking at quilts! I haven't really gotten anything much done yet today. Yesterday I signed up on a real estate site just so I could see pictures of a property that was for sale because I was curious not because I wanted to buy. Then I got an email from an agent saying he would be glad to help me find a property to buy. Well I don't want to buy anything, as I mentioned, but I do have some I might want to sell if I can get a good price. It's just undeveloped land which is great for hunting and lots of people here do that. So he's going to find a market price on it for me. As I said, I'll sell if the price is right otherwise I'll just continue to hold onto it and leave it to my kids. Then I got an email from my tv provider saying that they had overcharged me so I wanted to check my online bill to see what the amount was so of course couldn't remember my password so spent time making a new one. Then dh changed a bulb in the bedroom that burned out in the ceiling so while he had that apart I wanted to clean the cover. Now I've cut up meat to marinate for stew and will have to do veggies then MAYBE I can find time to do some crocheting or the bracelets...maybe the bracelets first so that I can put them in that box I still haven't packed. Of course one of my priorities is talking the ears off of all of you so I'll bbl

Good evening!
CJ- just checked out the quiltblocks for this week- my favorites are 44 and 49- what a pretty pattern this week! If I read correctly you are going to start putting the blocks together soon...that ought to be fun. Enjoy your quilting weekend! I know that there is a big week long quilt show in Lancaster in April-, so I guess as you said it's quilt show season. What quilt are you having appraised?
Ruth- Ds actually came out and spoke to us for a few minutes about the interview. (He can be very quiet......) and it did sound grueling. You are so right, the Lord knows what is best and what his will is for us. Ds has also had some health issues- which I think once the nerves from this interview goes away he will probably feel better. RIght now he is very stressed... Hey, we love it when you talk our ears off! Sounds as though you had a busy day. Hope you can get to make a bracelet or two - they are so easy.
Phyl, sorry you had trouble with the gauge - which is not the first time I have heard of that! You get so much done- it's very impressive.
Long day after a long week..... Hope everyone is having a good Friday. Ginny

Ruth, I love those penguins. I am sure your DGS will love them. I just don't crochet well enough to make them.
Ginny, I really did not have a lot of pain from my fall. I was a bit stiff and sore for a few days. My arm was bruised all the way from my shoulder to my wrist. It is slowly going away. But I have a big bump on my upper arm which doesn't seem to be going down. I have been using heat on it. I have 2 more appts. for iron fusion. I hope your DS does well at the interview. All he can do is his best and the results are in Gods hands.
Phyl, it is cold and rainy here today but we are happy to have it here in Ca. All the grass and plants look so lush and green and I love it. Everything was so dead for a few years. I hope you got your pattern sorted out.
cj, I hope you enjoy your trip to the quilt show.
Today it rained a lot but I went to my Knit Wits Gp anyway. I missed last Friday. I have got quite a lot of knitting done in the past few days and probably tomorrow I will finish one of my b/blankets. I would like to try some new crochet stitches but I don't want to start anything until I finish some of my UFOs.
I wish you all a good night.

Meg, I sent them to him in oct of 2015 when he turned two and he did love them. My ddil or ds sent me pics of him "bowling" with them. It was so cute. Also you're brave going out in the rain. I can't see well in rain anymore since it rarely rains here so I'm not used to it anymore. I hope they can find a vein ok next week. if not I'll have to come out there.. although after 13 years I may be out of practice but I don't think so. I still think I'd be pretty good at it if I do say so myself. Cooler here today and I'm just going to put in a couple loads of laundry, maybe clean the upstairs bathroom then spend the day crocheting unless dh has other ideas. ONe of these days I'm going to have to do my taxes. It's not hard online but it is a pain in the neck doing it and I always have to pay never a refund anymore. I'd rather keep my money all year than let them keep it and pay it back to me.
