Not 1 bit of news on Covid, it's 100% about the riots.
Just how much control does the media have over us?

I don’t see it as the media having control over us. I see it as an important topic to report on our current events. I wouldn’t be surprised if we’re being manipulated to some extent but it’s not by the media. The actions of late have been the tip of the iceberg and people are tired and angry. So the media are reporting on it.

The protests are at the forefront of the news cycle at the moment and rightly so.
Covid is still up there, just not in the spotlight right now.
I can chew gum and walk at the same time---not losing sight at all.

I'm afraid... out of sight, out of mind.
There is literally 0 other news, if fact I have to search my state's website, specifically Corona.
Throughout I've watched our governor's updates and New York's. Now all they are discussing are the riots.
I wish they could chew gum and walk at the same time.

I've seen news on the virus throughout, with emphasis on how the protests may impact the spread. National and local news.

Our Sunday's paper had one small article on Corona. All evening news was on demonstrators- no weather no nothing but live broadcasting at the marching site. (site would not take my ages-old user name)

Jennifer , the protests are incredibly important to cover right now. There is COVID-19 news cycling, however it's important to be aware that COVID-19 has hit the African American community and pretty much all communities of color so much harder than it has white America. Why? Because of all the enormous inequities - that have been decades in the making - that still exist in America today separating white privilege from people of color, who statistically have much lower rates of access to many things like: appropriate health care, educational opportunities, adequate housing, the list goes on and on. I've been taking this time to educate myself on what it means to be born into 'white privilege' and as someone who travels the world, mainly to Africa and Asia and for over 33 years, I am shocked to learn how I have unknowingly been contributing to racism. It's easy to say "I am not racist", but it's another thing entirely to say "I actively work for, and support anti-racism efforts". I had no idea that I was not upholding and supporting anti-racism efforts until the last few days of looking inward and learning more. So I hope you don't mind, but I'd like to share a wonderful Instagram artist's visual explanation on why COVID-19 and racism have dove-tailed right now. Perhaps this graphic will help you understand why covering the protests is so very important right now, and how it is directly linked to what's been going on with COVID-19 too.
This is an incredibly urgent and difficult conversation to have, but it's so important to have it, and I thank you for asking the question because it's an opportunity for dialogue. If you want to learn more, please click on 'ohhappydani' in the top of the below graphic and it'll take you to her Instagram page where she has some great resources for people to learn about how to be allies in this effort of equality for all. xo

finreporter, also where minorities are forced to live are often next to incinerators, toxic dumping sites, etc. Check out United Shades of America with Kamau Bell on CNN, not sure which episode (they're all excellent) - anyway one episode highlights this. There are so many "branches" it's hard to list them all.
