Ruth, defrosting refrigerators is not an easy process and you did two in one day. Bet the difference in frost levels is due to humidity levels in the air. Just a thought....and I could be wrong. Guess I am thinking that your winter quarters is wood heated (less humidity).
Slept ok last night, wish I had slept for another hour.....I did get some crochet time in last night. Its 39 degrees here- cold for June 1 but I don’t mind. Guess its supposed to go up to almost 70 today. I could take a whole summer like this. I have to go into work for an hour- its for a state mandated physical w high will be done compliant with social distancing and all required guidelines to stay safe. Not sure what the rest of the day will hold. BBL Ginny

Message is somewhere in cyberspace.
Today is the day to turn on the sprinklers. A few days of wind has dried out everything. Yesterday was 80+. The rest of the week is variety.
Yes, the news is distressing. I worked in some of the areas involved and am having some very scrambled dreams/nightmares that include past and present events that have nothing to do with one another. I slept very well last night after two nights of very little sleep. I wasn't consciously worrying, but between covid 19, the riots, hb, local issues, I created an unbelievable story line. At one point I was driving a mattress that had the gas and brakes reversed. The past and the present were interspersed in no specific order.
The guy who sprays weeds has already been here, and I had a chance to talk with him for a few minutes. He's now in a managerial position with the company and has been coming to my house for 23 years! Now to deal with the ants!

That is pretty cold for your part of the country at this time of year. It's more like the kind of weather we usually have but it's hot here today. They say it will be cooler starting tomorrow but it still will be in 80's.Ginny, I'm glad that when you go to your meeting that they are taking the needed precautions
Sue, yes things dry out fast here too. We water and the ground looks parched in no time. It sounds like you have the kinds of dreams that I have. I've always dreampt a lot but since I became old I have some really weird ones. Also trauma from childhood influences my dreams even at this time of my life.
I've been helping dh with one of his projects. He's been keeping busy. The other day he decided he'd like to have an air gun. They aren't firearms. BB guns and pellet guns.He spent about three days researching them online and findling a place to order.Today he wanted to section off part of our family room so the cool air from the air conditioner will be directed into our bedroom. We have no windows in the bedroom to put the a/c into so it has to go in the one outside the bedroom in the family room.Of course before he could section it we have to move a bunch of his "stuff" so that there was room.I always call it the so called family room because it's mostly a room where we store things.
Neighbor came to the door to give us a paper that talks about a protest march they're going to have here in our town on Wed that is to support the organization Black Lives Matter. Dh talked to him, I didn't and dh said the neighbor said something about "right wing extremists". I don't know what the context was but I guess he thinks that people on the right don't care about black people. I think that all lives matter and I sure am not going to join in a protest. march. He shouldn't either. He,like my dh, has diabetes and he's up there in years, doesn't need to be marching and protesting anything.

Sue, at least if you were driving a mattress I hope its a comfortable one! I try not to watch too much news. Hoping that things settle down soon....for you- and you have been cautious- I think Covid is not an issue- your state does not have many cases and you do not go out much. From what I am hearing, primary transmission is through contact- close contact with another infected person. And lets hope and pray for a vaccine. Has your DD and DGD gotten over it ok?
Walked with my friend this afternoon. Kept working on my finances this morning and into this afternoon. Just trying to learn and understand what Dh had us in (he did chat with me about it, so I was not in the dark) and see if I want to continue to keep things as he did.
Cat had me up early this am, so I am tired. See ya tomorrow Ginny

No, I would not be marching in any protest either Ruth. Agree all lives matter- and what happened was absolutely awful. Game makes a great high velocity pellet gun that is helpful with rodent control (woodchucks etc.....). and its not pricey either, ammo is cheap but it pays to get the better ammo if you are using it to eliminate backyard nuisance animals.

Got one last cool morning here (which I love) before summer weather sets in. I hope to get some crocheting in before I go for a walk with my friend and her husband.

Well today was one of the days the weather forecasters said we among the "cooler" days that were upcoming. I'm sure it got close to 90. Dh is putting in the a/c right now to see if his diverting plan works...i.e. sending cool air into the bedroom
The only crafting I got done on Sunday was finishing the edging on the blanket and looking at the crochet groups on fb and yesterday I did the fb thing and got about 3/4 of a ribbed hat band done. So today so far I've just been looking for inspiration on what to make next. I have a long list but always end up making something different than anything on that list. I hoppe to spend the rest of this evening crocheting so we'll see.
Ginny, I hope you had a good walk with your friends I hope that all our crafting friends are ok. I worry about CJ being in the location she's in

Good call Ruth, I hope CJ is ok. Sometimes she gets here later than we do or even skips a day.....just hope she is ok and safe.
Ruth, 90 sure is hot to me. You and Dh seem to be inventive types and I figure that whatever you are going to do to divert the air conditioning to the bedroom will work. I hope you were able to find something to make- well something that allows you to check off an item on your list.. If I were to make 3/4 of a ribbed hat it would take me about a week....so that you got it done in one day is quite something. Hope that you and Dh can stay cool and that the heat passes quickly.
Enjoyed the walk with my friends- and we went to the same area that I went to with pastors wife the day earlier. I was able to identify the mystery bird that I saw with my pastors wife, as we found one very close to the path. Figured out its a common gallinule, a bird I never knew existed until 2 days ago. Funny looking bird, but I was happy to see it. Got a little bit of crochetting in....not looking forward to the heat that is supposed to start tomorrow. g

Ginny,no that was only 3/4 of the band not of the whole hat.
I started a blanket using Bernat's blanket yarn..well one skein is Bernat, the two others are actually the same yarn but in Hobby Lobby's brand, Yarn bee.this will be for one of the little grandboys who are 2 and 6

Hello Crafters Ruth and Ginny - thanks for thinking of me and being concerned, I appreciate it. I'm fine and not anywhere near where the problems are in Downtown D.C. We had a nice couple of weather days here Mon and Tues, but today it's supposed to be hot and in the 90s. I'm glad I was able to get my two air conditioner units set up and they both work, so I'm ready to deal with the summer heat - I guess I went grocery shopping on Monday and it is just an exhausting experience. I'm so glad I'm done for another month. But after that I think I have to go back to every 2 weeks for shopping because I just can't deal with all the groceries needed for a month. There are still some shortages in the stores here too. I've been doing a bit of quilting work. I finished sewing all the snowball corners on the fruit and vegetable quilt blocks, so I'll be ready to start strip piecing the sides and tops next. But I stopped for a bit because we have the new color for June in the Rainbow Scrap Challenge - it's PINK - one of my favorite colors to quilt with. So I picked my 6 fabrics for my blocks this month and I starched and pressed them this morning and cut the squares I need so I'll be ready to start piecing my Bowtie and Tumbler blocks. I'm glad to hear you've been doing some crafting and it sounds like everyone is well. Take care everyone!

Good afternoon,
CJ- glad to hear that you are ok!! Even my little town had a peaceful protest yesterday- but we never know.....and again the news has been rather scarey. Just nice to hear that you are doing well and that your area is stable. That is very good news that your airconditioners both work and are ready for a summer. How disappointing it would be to get them out in 90 degree weather, and expect them to work and -clunk- nothing. Now you are ready. What happy news too that you get to work with your favorite quilting color this month- pink! Bet you have lots of pink fabric and are going to be challenged to select the fabrics you want to work with. It sure sounds like you have been busy getting a lot of quilting or quilting preparation done. I too went into the grocery store- and i agree its a challenge to stock up for a month. Every two weeks is easier for sure. And while I should not complain, its challenging making sure you keep the 6 foot distance, and are walking the right way in each aisle. Were you able to get everything you wanted??
Ruth, forgive me but by now you know that I can be a bit scatterbrained. I see what I did, mentally I absorbed what you wrote as the ribbed band hat, instead of what you wrote which was the ribbed hat band. Duh. That will teach me for not being more careful. Anyway, hope that those the bernat yarn and the HL yarn work well together. The baby afghan I am making is HL yarn (baby bee) and I am pretty happy with it. Hope you are pleased with it also. What color is the blanket?
Well my outdoor cat had me up at 5 cause he heard birds outside.....so here I am - tired. I did go to the store a little after 6 (when they open) to avoid crowds and so I could come home and relax the rest of the day. Dd#2 and DSIL are coming over for dinner and to run out the kitten, rambunctious little fellow that he is. Hope I can stay awake! Just made myself another cup of tea so hopefully that will get me through it. I am pretty much able to get what i want in the food store- was finally able to get the ground beef I like. Chicken was a little bit dicey- they were out of their sale item - so I did not buy chicken. (Have some in the freezer anyway) But- my major frustration??? Cards. I have a bunch of family birthdays and anniversaries coming up- and the BIL/SIL I am so close with have their anniversary in a few weeks. Even though they are my husbands family- well I still am close to them. About 2 weeks ago I stopped in dollar tree (who has nice cards- normally) and they were wiped out of cards. The food store today, same thing- a very poor assortment of cards, and I refuse to spend $6 on a card. So I stopped in CVS- and found the same thing, but at least I was able to get sort of nice bday cards for them- the $2 for $4 cards- which I will personalize to make nicer. They had only one anniversary card and that was $7. Very disappointing.....sometimes its just nice to get real mail, and not email.
Hope to get some crochetting in later. Not sure when DD and DSIL are heading over.
Have a great day all- Hi to Sue and Phyl......Rene, have you found any good quilting videos to watch??
Take good care all Ginny

Hazy, high of 75.
Tomorrow J will do some shopping and pickups for me, so this morning has been an organization, listmaking, phone call time.
I've cleaned the frig - dislike stainless steel, have done a load of dishes, two loads of laundry.
Yellowstone is now open via Montana, and there were vehicles from 32 states. I'm just sitting back waiting to see what, if anything, happens as a result of opening up. Here, most people are wearing masks.
I haven't been out driving the mattressmobile anymore! That was so odd. I remember the first year I taught . . . The school secretary commented how calm I was. Maybe on the outside but definitely not on the inside. I've learned a lot since then, and most of the time there's a good match of calm, even in what might seem like extraordinary circumstances. I don't feel very calm inside or outside right now. The change and upheaval is all due to circumstances beyond my control.
Interesting thing happened. We received our stimulus check. On Monday there was an IRS letter saying that my deceased (almost two years) sister would be receiving hers shortly.

Hi Sue- hazy at 75 degrees is humid....hope you were able to stay comfortable. I did some research for my DSIL (spoke to her on the phone today) and Covid is down in her area too- west coast Florida. Only two new cases...lets just hope that this is the case all over and no one is traveling with it and spreading it. Your public exposure is minimal- you and Dh should be fine. Indeed these are difficult times and made even more difficult if we think we have any control over it. Honestly, we don’t - but we can pray for protection, grace and mercy to get us though. Glad to hear that your stimulus check arrived....now what you will do with your sisters check is another story.. The IRS is backed up on their calls....such a huge system to operate.
