Well, I was going to start posting- and then realized I needed to take an antihistamine. Now that is done and hopefully my allergies will behave themselves.
Ruth, how do you prepare pork tenderloin? I love it for a lot of reasons, and of course ease of preparation being a big part of that- and it tastes so good. If its on sale I will buy those pre seasoned tenderloins, if not i put on salt, pepper and garlic....yum. Leftover pork is great in fried rice. Anyway, your meal sounded wonderful and I am sure Dh appreciated it. DGD2 baby afghan seems to be 30x48, so I will just keep on crocheting until I get sort of close to that dimension. Right now, its about 30 x 30- so I have some work ahead of me. I figure this baby will be born in about 3 weeks.
Sure do have my share of critters out there. When we moved here, there was one single row of homes across the street, their back yards were woods and beyond that it was a dairy farmers field. Behind me is 2 acres of woods and some neighbors. Anyway across the street large homes are being built- but the woods seem to be untouched. There are plenty of places for little critters to live. I found that moth balls will repel the red squirrel- which is considerably more nasty than the grey squirrel (also not known to be a very nice animal). Honestly, if Dh were here, he might eliminate a squirrel or two. I am gonna use moth balls which I doubt will bother anything other than that pesky squirrel.
Not sure what I will end up doing today. think Dd#1 is alone with her kids today- I might stop in when out to get the moth balls...but I will be seeing her tomorrow. She is hearing that some hospitals are requiring a mother in labor to wear a mask. As it is they have reduced the amount of time a new mom gets in the hospital to one overnight (to limit Covid exposure) and her husband will only be allowed to go in with her when she delivers. If he were to leave to check on his children (who will be with me) he would not be allowed to renter the hospital, just pick her up when its time to be released. I hope he chooses to stay with her.
Better figure out my day. Ginny

It's a rainy cold day today. The high will be low 40s.
We had a wild windy rainy night on Friday. One of the aspens broke off 12-15' up and landed on the non working ancien truck hb refuses to part with and completelei blocked the driveway. A kind neighbor brought a chain saw and cut up the tree.
Neighbors to the east just listed their house for sale. That's too bad. They are the quietest neighbors I could ever hope to have.
And . . . I "lost" my cell phone on Thursday afternoon and didn't find it until Sunday afternoon. I am very dependent on my cell phone and use it constantly throughout the day.
Over the last few months I've been doing a lot of reading about weaving in the Peruvian Highlands. My sister lived in Peru for several years. Weaving was one of the things on my bucket list, and a workshop was held in my shop out back in 1998. I didn't get to attend because I broke my ankle a few weeks before it began. Later a friend who was one of the teachers worked with me individually. I was entranced, but life interferfered! I had purchased my cousin's floor loom and still have it. I know using it is something I can no longer do, but in reading and reading some more, I am fairly sure I can use a little loom or a rigid heddle loom or a tapestry loom. My mind is filled with ideas. I can't do large pieces, but scarves and wall hangings are a possibility.
In the meantime, I've been receiving boxes of some of the textiles that my sister had purchased in Peru about fifty years ago. Most of the content were disappointing because of moth holes and cat hair, but alpaca is a hair, not wool as from sheep, and the items made from alpaca are a nice surprise. There should be quite a bit more heading this way - more recent items that aren't textiles. I have received my parents' Navajo rug from the early 30s. It's in good condition ( had been cleaned and wrapped at some point). And more surprising, my parents' silverware was there. I was told by her friend that it had been stolen. He got his stories mixed up.
So through all of this, I may yet get to do some weaving after all. I'm interested in using unusual things for a loom like Driftwood or antlers for lopsided pieces with a variety of different textured threads and yarns for the weft. As long as I can sit down and lean back, I'll be okay.
And the fallen tree? Through that I found my young teen Agee who is an eager and conscientious weeder!
There are eleven new and active covid 19 cases in our county. I am going to go to an even on Friday. One of the quilters is having an outside open house on Friday afternoon. She's finished another 25 quilts for a local court advocate group for children and will be displaying them on her fences. It's a bring your own beverage, social distancing and wear your mask affair. Her idea of a charity quilt is beyond belief. They're all originals.

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today Ginny - Hope you enjoy the time with family and that everything will go well for your DD's delivery. I also hope the mothballs take care of your squirrel problems. Ruth - Sounds like you've been working on several projects, hope you are enjoying them. Sue - The weaving sounds very interesting, I hope you can do some work on the small loom. Phyl and Meg - Hope you are crafting too. I finished piecing together the 30 blocks of fruit/vegetable fabrics, so now I'm ready to sew them in rows and then for the sashing I'm using a fabric that looks like woodgrain, since I want the jars to look like they are sitting on shelves in a case/rack. It was a bit irritating working with the black fabric I'm using for the sides and tops of the jars. Every little piece of thread sticks to it and it's difficult to line two pieces of black fabric together for sewing and also for trimming. Now I just need to figure out my layout of the blocks. I really like to see things orderly so it bothers me to think of just mixing up all the 30 blocks randomly and piecing them together. I'm going to put 5 blocks on each of 6 rows. So I have to decide if I want to maybe mix up just all of the fruits and put them on 2-3 rows and then mix up the vegetables and put them on the other rows. Or since I have 2 of each type I could put those 2 next to each other. I guess I'll lay them out several different way and see which one I like the best. Take care and have a great day!

Good morning all my crafting friends...oh I should say good afternoon.
Sue It didn't get that cold here. It did go down to 46 but will be in 60's today. Tonight down to 40. The weaving sounds interesting and I'm glad you received some of your sister's things and your parents' silver. It's great to hear that you have good neighbors that are willing to help in situations like the tree falling and also will do weeding for you. There aren't many children living in our development and those that do are not near us and probably aren't interested in working mowing lawns and weeding.
CJ, sounds like you're coming along well on the fruit and veggie quilt. What will you work on when that is done?
Ginny, I do hope all goes well for your dd and the new baby. I'm sure she's a little concerned about being in the hospital and possible exposure to the virus but I'm sure hte hospital is taking precautions against that
I finished the Bernat blanket yarn blanket and started a new blanket. I started doing it in larksfoot pattern but, as I suspected, the pattern didn't show up in the variegated yarn so I took that out and am doing it c2c which is a fun way of making things and it's beautiful too.
My brother had been discharged from the hospital after his shoulder replacement surgery but had to go back today because of breathing difficulty. They didn't find anything of an emergent nature but are keeping him to do a cardiac catheterization tomorrow. He's not even on oxygen so he must be doing better

Good morning!
Sue, that is quite some story about the tree falling on/near the truck. you must be so thankful to have help nearby to help get cut the tree up and clear up the debris. Hey congrats on finding the cell phone!! It is such a pain when they are misplaced or lost. Weaving is fun and most definitely an art. We had bought a small loom for Dd when she was young....She still has it. there must be a lot of literature out there on the topic. Enjoy the journey, weaving and the research. Pretty sure that you will be completely safe it you attend that Friday open house. Wear a mask, social distance and you should be fine.
CJ- you are in the fun part of quilting- coming up with a final layout. Your proposed layout brings to mind the concept of an amish pantry. I like the idea of the wood toned/patterned fabric. Its going to be so cute when you are done. Do you have plans to hang this in your kitchen? Stay cool- we are in for some really warm weather for a day or so.
Ruth, hope that your brother is ok and that this is all precautionary. For the bernat blanket, did the bernat yarn mix in well with the Hobby Lobby yarn? I donโt think Dd is too concerned about the transmission of Covid when the little guy is born- cases are way down in my county. Thanks for your concern however.
Got a few rows done on the baby afghan last night. Busy day today- i will be out a lot. And its supposed to be very warm. BB later on today Ginny

Good morning crafting gallery, how will things go today?
I hope to work on my sewing area and get things back in order. least it does not look like a hurricane went through this time. just need to get things in place so I can find what maybe hiding under it.
did go to hobby lobby.a friend sent me a gift card several months ago.I finally used it. got a half yard of flamingo fabric (VERY PRETTY)and half yard of lighthouse fabric. I will make one lighthouse mask for dd as she likes lighthouses and fish.
also need to get a sympathy card.Theresa called yesterday.a dear friend dd was dying of cancer.she if probably on her way to the lord now.
also asking for prayers for Jim an Theresa. last year Jim found out he had a Valve problem.his test From last week shows no changes. the doctor has told Jim while he is healthy to have the surgery.
Theresa said Jim is scared. he has never had a surgery or been in the hospital.except for last year one night when he had pnemonia.
Theresa thinks he should just had it done last year.last year she said the doctor said if it is not broken don't fix it.
he has a stress test on the 7th of July.the doctor is going to talk to the surgeon go from there.
I know a few people who have valves and are doing ok.as Don said a by-pass would be harder.
they need to change their eating hbits. Jim will not eat fish( only during lent) or chicken. he is a beef and ham guy will eat pork.
he works 2 days a week. Theresa always has baked stuff around for his lunches.
there is always cookies and candy around.I am more worried about Theresa and something happening to her first.
when we went to Dick's 90th bday she told us on the way she would need to get something to eat.about 10 am she gets shaky.also she has put on 29 pounds the last few years.
I know dear son joe and family will take care of Jim if need be.
thank you for the prayers. will keep you posted and thank you for letting me vent. phyl

Phyl, there are so many people like Jim who, although they have serious medical issues, just can't stay on the way of eating they should follow. We all know how hard that is. Depending on how old Jim is and what valve he needs replaced, they now have a way to replace without opening the chest. They do it as though they're doing a cardiac cath. What is wrong with Theresa that you're worried about her?You said Jim has a valve problem and Theresa gets shaky about 10 am. Is she diabetic?
Parts of I-80 in my state are closed because of snow. They got about 8 inches down there. I'm glad we didn't get it here. The part that I would need to get on if going on a trip is the part that's closed.Mother nature doesn't know it's spring/summer
Ginny, the Bernat yarn and HL yarn worked very well together. The HL blanket yarn is a little bit thinner than the Bernat but you can hardly tell while working with it and when finished you really don't notice at all.Sorry it's so hot there when you have to go out into all that heat.
I worked on the c2c blanket quite a bit yesterday but have a ways to go

Long day and i am tired.....
Phyl will remember all those you mentioned in prayer. As Ruth said there are many alternate procedures not which are minimally invasive. How nice you were able to use a gift card today!! Bet it was nice to get back into HL.
Ruth good to hear that those two yarns worked out well together. How is your brother doing- any news? Cannot believe you have snow in some parts of your state. Here it was almost 90.
See ya tomorrow Ginny

Allergies are really kicking me these past few days....perhaps I was out and about a bit too much yesterday. Got a few things I want to do today before it gets too hot- so I am waiting until my allergy meds work and then will see how I feel. Sounds like a good day to crochet or sew to me.
I did get my hair cut yesterday- which was a strange experience. Both the hairdresser and I had to wear masks, and she had to wear a face shield over the mask. And I know there was a 15 minute cleaning procedure that must be followed in between customers. Also, the phone was ringing off the wall while I was there, and they are booked for 3 weeks....so I did not want to do so, but already made my next appointment. I figure it will be a few months before they get caught up. The salon I go do (small) redecorated while closed....a new owner took over about 2 years ago, and she took advantage of being closed to change some things. (Of course some changes had to be made to accommodate the new health requirements). It looked nice. Just good to be back to doing something normal.
Also normal....I was out all day and driving home around 5 pm. While passing through several local towns it was great to see the small restaurants with curbside service- as hot as it was.
Think Dd and her Dh might spend the day here- bringing DGK (dear grand kitten). Their apartment (which they are moving out of in a few weeks) does not have air conditioning, and its supposed to be a miserable day.
So thankful that my allergy meds are working. I actually feel human again. Ginny

Allery meds are another thing to be thankful for. Allergies are miserable. I know it feels good to get a haircut and it sounds like the salon is taking precautions very seriously. I imagine that your dd will be spending a bit of time with you since she doesn't have a/c. Hopefully the day they move won't be too hot and humid. I hope you stopped at one of the restaurants providing curbside service so that you didn't have to cook in all the heat. Even with a/c it takes awhile to cool down the house.
I didn't get much done on my blanket yesterday because I has making hearts instead. I made one then decided to try some other patterns. I'm sending one to my 8 year old grandaughter because she wrote me a letter in which she said she was sad. The heart will cheer her up at probably at age 8 they get over feeling sad fast...hopefully anyway.
My brother had no blockage in the heart cath so they determined he had mild congestive heart failure so gave him diuretics to take. It was the fluid in his lungs making it difficult to breathe. It probably was exacerbated by the fluids he received during surgery on his shoulder.

Good to learn that your brother had no blockages....and I hope that the congestive heart failure is mild and is easily treated. Its a challenge for those who do not want to make the dietary changes/lifestyle changes needed. Oh, I hope that your DGD is feeling better and not sad. How wonderful that she feels close enough to you that she can talk about her feelings.
Nope did not stop and get anything from a local restaurant. I have done very little take out during this shutdown- and will probably save the gift cards for when I really do not feel like cooking- perhaps this weekend....I dislike cooking in the heat. Think its supposed to cool down tomorrow however.

Hello Crafters, Ginny - I'm glad you were able to get your hair done, I'm sure it feels good. Also happy to hear the allergy medications are helping you. Pollen is really bad around here right now too and has bothered me some. Ruth - I'm happy to hear that your DB had no blockage and hope that the diuretics will help with the fluid build-up. I'm sorry to hear your DGD is sad, I hope those hearts will cheer her up. It makes me sad to hear that a child so young feels that way - our world is very stressful for children these days. Phyl - I'll wish for the best for Jim. I'm glad you were able to get out and go shopping. I don't know if the craft stores around me are open yet or not, but I'm not sure I'm ready to go back in them yet. Sue and Meg - Hope you are doing some crafting. The weather here has been hot and now pretty humid. I went outside earlier to get yesterday and today's mail (I just leave it in the box when it's all junk) and took a grocery bag with me because I saw trash laying out in the grass along the road that runs by my house. There is always something there and out in front of my house. By the time I finished picking all the trash up I had a full bag - and there was a bunch of gross stuff out there - I'll spare you any details The humidity was terrible and it's taken me about 20 minutes to finally cool off. I called and cancelled a dental cleaning I had scheduled for next week. My dentist office just opened last week and it sounds like they have good procedures in place to be safe from the virus, but I'm just not ready to go back around so many people so closely yet. Maybe by the end of the summer things will be better. I'm almost finished piecing the Canning Jar quilt top together. I just have the two side borders to sew on, but I need to piece 2 strips together for each side strip since this quilt is so long - about 79 inches. I didn't realize it would be this way, and I probably should have made the actual rows across longer since the width is only about 48 inches. I guess this is the problem when you don't follow an actual pattern. I'm pretty happy with the way it looks though and just glad to be done with the top since I've wanted to make this for years. I hope to get the side borders on today. Take care everyone!

hi girls, thank you for your prayers. Theresa and Jim talked to the kids. the kids are all very encouraging. Jim's worry was he would have to sit for 3 months. He said that would kill him.
he'd rather just die. that would bring him down.I told Theresa he doesn't have the surgery it will bring him down in time.
Theresa remembered her sister Millie had something done and has to watch the salt.so maybe they are finally learning.
today was my mamo.stopped at B&N.bough the book LIGHT OVER LONDON.it is a ww2 story. every so often I will read a story about ww 1or 2.
I also met Shelly out side At Hardees.picked up my farm girl vintage 2 book. never did get the vintage 1 book. cute bocks in there.little bit of every thing in there.phyl

Good morning,
Phyl, my girlfriends husband had a heart valve procedure a few weeks ago and he was a high risk case. I hope and pray that they can make dietary adjustments as needed and that Jim will go for the needed procedure. Don is so right- bypass surgery is so much more invasive and has a much longer recovery period. Glad you got your mammogram done and were able to stop in at Barnes and Noble. Its always nice to browse through a book store...
CJ- thought of you yesterday as I watched a quilting tutorial on MSQ and she showed a mason jar quilt panel.Well good thing that for now, that you cleaned up the front yard a bit. Its regretful that it was such a process and with some not so pleasant finds. Its pathetic that some cannot manage to control their waste, throwing it out of car windows or leaving it as they walk. Somebody has to clean up the mess and yesterday, that somebody was you. Glad you finished the canning jar quilt top- and I am so happy for you that you are pleased with how it turned out! Did you get the look you were looking for- jars on a shelf??
Hot and humid here too.....think it breaks today though and cooler temps come in. got a virtual appointment at 8 am- so Iโd better get myself in some functional form....... Ginny
