Good morning all.
Ginny, I hope your virtual appointment went well. I'm glad you're going to have cooler weather because I know that you and CJ do like it cooler
I left my blanket downstairs this morning and didn't want to go back down and possibly wake dh so I looked at other blanket patterns and started a gingham one. Mine will be two yellows and antique white. The problem I have is that, even though I have a huge and unbelievable yarn stash, I don't really have enough of any one color to be able to make a blanket that is much of any size except in POL and I'll make some and have made some with that but I'd like other colors. I hate buying more when I have so much already. I think this has taught me a lesson which is to wait and make sure I'm getting enough of one color and let the company keep the rest that I was just going to buy because it was so pretty.

Its hard to know what we will need for a project- and also hard to walk away from a great deal on yarn. Love the color scheme of two yellows antique white. I think it will be stunning.
Allergies are kicking me- gonna go lay down and watch some Tv and hopefully feel better Ginny

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today. We've had some hot and humid days here this week, but today is a bit less humid. I'm hoping for some cooler weather next week. I did finish putting on the borders of the Canning Jar quilt and I'm pretty satisfied with how it looks. It may be a strange shape but it does look like jars sitting on shelves in a cabinet and that's what I was hoping for. I'm going through some of my older things to decide on what project to work on next. I have several sets of machine embroidered blocks that I bought at quilt shows from this company: www.kingstreasureswebstore.com/Mostly lighthouses, but also some barns and other things. I'm hoping to work on using some of these in some quilt tops soon. It's nice to use these things I've had for so many years. Hope everyone has a good weekend and that you get to do some crafting

CJ- well the humidity has broken here and its working out to be a very comfortable evening. It got up to 80 +/- a degree....just warm enough but I kept the windows open and the AC off knowing tonight is going into the 50’s. Here’s hoping that better weather is headed your way also and that you don’t feel cooped up in the heat.. I checked out kings treasures- - they sure have some different stuff. I was not able to open everything but on the IPad not all web sites cooperate in the same way. You sure find unique craft sites. Its obvious that you like light houses- so i figure that one of those projects you are hoping to work on involves them. Yes, its nice to be able to finally use what you have had in the house for years, It helps that you have had the time to really gain a vision for what you have and what you think you would like to do with it. Sometimes we buy something - knowing that we like it, but not knowing exactly how we would put that to use. Now that you have done so much quilting, I am sure you have a better vision of what you would like to do with these machine embroidered blocks. Have fun with them! Wish we could see the mason jar quilt top. It sounds perfect.
Got DD coming over tomorrow and Ds home, so today was vacuuming and laundry. Dd#1 was here too, she set up a small pool for the Dgk’s - I have more level property than she does....and we are hoping to just hang out together after she has the baby and I can help watch the others. So the small pool will come in handy. It was a good day with Dd- who brought the grandkids a bit later to try to the pool out. It was a big success and was good to see them happy.
Got a nice fire going now and will read out here for awhile. Then will go in and crochet while watching TV.
Have a good night all- and like CJ said, hope we can all get some crafting in. Ginny

it was a hot day here too and at 5pm it's still over 90. I think it got way up there in the 90's. Thankfully there is no humidity.
CJ, you do find the nicest things online and, as Ginny said, it's great that now that you've had a lot of experience in quilting you can get out those things you bought in the past and work on them now ending in a beautiful creation. I've seen a few lighthouses in real life now and really like them too.
Ginny, it's so much fun seeing small children innocently playing and having a great time.Enjoy your time at the fire and evening crocheting. a I worked on the c2c blanket a lot after I found that I hadn't left it down in the bedroom after all. I also worked on it this morning. After the gingham one I know what I'm going to work on next which will be one called "which way filet". It's a youtube which I don't really enjoy working to but it's a 2 row repeat so I'm sure that after just a few rows I'll be able to work it on my own. It's a circular blanket and very interesting looking. I'm going to do it in one of the mandala cakes...probably one that's primarily yellow with shades of gray and other colors. I do have to get busy on Sid the Sloth. I keep putting it off. I don't like joining parts together as I've whined about many times.I'm getting more confidence in doing it now though because I see a lot of things on the crochetgroups that everyone raves about and those people's joining isn't any better than mine. We are our own worst critics

Good morning, Ruth, I am not familiar with the pattern you are using, but using a yarn like Mandala cakes would be so pretty- I can imagine the color changes and how nice that will look. Good for you taking on a youtube crochet pattern. Its a challenge following instructions that you cannot hold and re read over and over....I give you a ton of credit for doing that.
Nice and cool here last night. Great sleeping weather. ginny

Ginny, I hope you had a good day with your dd today.
It was hot here again today. On tv they said yesterday's high was 87. According to my thermometers...I have 3,it was close to 100
Earlier today I finished the blanket except for the border which I was going to go ahead and do but dh got up so I've been kept busy since. I'll definitely finish it tomorrow then work on the gingham one and Sid the sloth.
CJ I hope you had a good day today too and that tomorrow will also be good.
Hello to Phyl, Sue,Meg,and Rene

Good morning, Ruth, were you able to finish the afghan?? this is the afghan you just spoke about that you were getting the directions from youtube? That went quickly- would you make that pattern again? If so, would it make sense to write the directions down for future use? I am hoping that SId the Sloth is coming along well and that he has been finished. The gingham afghan sounds like it will be a lot of work- multiple color changes and I think you are using 3 different yarn colors. Anyway, hope it goes well. Who will the gingham afghan be for? Looks like you will have a few more days of heat and then it cools down a bit. Your nights seem to be cool, so the house can cool down from a really warm day. Good thing you and Dh got some gardening done last week, as its so hot and not good to be working in the heat too long.
Dd#2 was here yesterday- she got here early and left late. Always good to spend the day with her....they are supposed to be closing on a house in a few weeks, so when that happens I will be seeing a bit less of her, perhaps spending the day at her house. But it was nice to see her and spend the day virtual shopping. She was looking for an anniversary gift for her Dh (hard to believe that the wedding was a year ago in early July). We found what she was looking for...she ordered a firepit (DSIL wants one) which will be great for their new home. Had lovely weather here, so last night I built a fire outside. Took a long time for the fire to really catch on and burn well (not a large fire, but just an even fire). So I ended up out by the fire, wrapped in a quilt in my outdoor rocking chair with it....it was a lovely fire. Nice cool night for one too. Hard to crochet in the dark however!
Got church in my car again today- just happy that church is meeting again and having a service in my church parking lot is fine with me.
Hope everyone is having a good weekend...Hi to Sue, Phyl, CJ and Rene.
Oh- got good news. According to their web page, hobby Lobby opens up mid week!!! Cannot wait. Ginny

Ginny, it sounds like you had a nice day and also evening. I know your dd and her dh will be happy when they move and be able to enjoy their own firepit. What a great gift. And, yes, it's a little hard to crochet by firelight As for the afgan,no this isn't the one on youtube, this is the c2c I've been working on all week.It will be for one of my grandchildren.I'm not sure which one will choose it but I think it will be for the 13 year old dgd. Sid hasn't been started yet. I changed my mind last evening on what I was going to do with the rest of the time. I didn't realize it was so late.Today I'll do the border on the c2c and then do what I was planning last night. The gingham isn't hard. YOu carry the yarn along and just change back and forth as needed which is not hard at all.unfortunately it's hard for me to see differences in the two yellows I'm using but once established it's still pretty easy. You're right about our weather, at least what is forecast. Today is extremely windy bringing in some change

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today The weather here has been so nice - in the 70s with low humidity. We are predicted to have 70s up through the end of the coming week and then 90 by Saturday. I've just been enjoying having the windows open to help pull out some of the heat in the house. I'm happy to hear you all are working on some crafts and enjoying time with family I pulled a project out of my box where I stored things I'd bought at quilt shows over the years. I went through a phase where I liked to buy half finished projects that quilt guild members were selling on their guild table. So I have several of those to work on. The one I pulled was 18 tumbler blocks, and I paid $5.00 for them. 8 of the blocks are red/tan and 8 are green/tan. The tan fabric has small white dog bones in it. The other 2 blocks are aqua/tan but they didn't work in with what I want to do so I didn't use them. I sewed the 16 blocks together alternating red and green and I'm going to put a small 1 inch white inner border around the square. Then I have a fat quarter of a Snoopy Christmas fabric which is a bright green background with red and white in it, and I'm going to put a 3 inch outer border around it. I've been trying to use that Snoopy fat quarter for years and never had the right project - but this is the one I'm hoping to finish putting on the borders today. Take care everyone and enjoy your day!

Friday was 93, and today is 44! Crazy. I like today much better!
On Friday I took hb to the eye doctor and after dropping him off at home I went to a mini quilt show a member of my quilting group had. Even the shade was too hot for me. The quilts were lovely. She has made 25 so far this year for children who are in the court system. She donates them to the group of child advocates. It was good to see everyone for a while with masks and social distancing.
Now I'm more determined than ever to stay at home. Our numbers of diagnosed covid 19 cases is increasing both in the state and in the county. It's just not worth taking a chance.

Sue, I guess the take home message of Covid is that each of us have to do what we are comfortable with and if that means staying in and out of the public then that is fine. It does not look like your state is spiraling out of control (as they say Arizona is), but again, you have had family members with it and of course between yourself and your Dh and his medical issues, well , being cautious cannot hurt. Glad you got to the mini quilt show- I am sure it was nice to get out and see what others were doing. Glad everyone was social distancing and wearing masks- from what I am hearing if you follow that and practice good hand washing its safe. What a lovely idea to donate those quilts for the benefit of children in the court system- think they are often forgotten!!! And I agree- 44 is much better than 93.
CJ- yes this weather is delightful for sure. I think what you are doing with the tumbler blocks sounds adorable and should work perfectly with the snoopy Christmas fabric. Hope you can get it all done today- complete with the border. Then on to your next project.....cannot wait to hear about that. Your creative juices are really flowing- only a few weeks ago you took a hiatus from crafting, we all do that from time to time....Obviously the break you took reenergized you. I enjoy hearing about all that your are making.
Ok Ruth so this is not the first time I have messed up what you are working on. (Forgive me!). And for some reason I thought you had started Sid,but was struggling getting the inspiration to put his pieces together. Bet he will be cute when you do make him!
Ds helped out here today- he repaired the shed door so the red squirrel cannot get back in the shed. Gonna put the moth balls in there now- which will make sure it never wants to return
Allergies are a bit of a problem so i will take it slowly this evening. Yes, tomorrow is Monday. Seems impossible but that is the case. Hi to Phyl. Ginny

CJ, I LOVE Snoopy. I have some fabric with him on it and also some with others in their "gang".Your quilt with your Snoopy in it is going to be fantastic. I've been thinking for years about how I could go about using my Peanuts fabric to make a quilt but you all know I'm not a quilter.I could make a simple one though. I just want to get the caracters into the middle of my blocks. Sue It's nice that you were able to get out and still be protected. I hope your 44 doesn't come here. I don't like it that cold. Ginny, well I can't even keep track of myself so I don't expect you to either I did get the border done on that c2c blanket made with RH with Love lemon drop yarn but I may add another round. I did a sc round, a hdc round, then a front post hdc but I think it needs another round of that and I really should have use alternating fp and bp. I got Sid's head done and am now taking a break. I had to msg ddil to find out if she thought it was safe for me to use safety eyes or should I embroider them. The dgs Sid is for is 6 but his little brother is only 2 so I don't want anyone choking on my creations and I don't really trust safety eyes at all. I can't believe, either, that tomorrow is another Monday already
