I think these are the NYC numbers for June 12 Daily indicatorsCOVID hospitalizations: 70 H+H ICU: 339 Percentage tested positive: 3% Latest official numbers:As of Friday morning, there were 380,892 confirmed COVID-19 cases in New York, with the state's death toll sitting at 24,442. The above stats are from this article. www.pix11.com/news/coronavirus/latest-coronavirus-updates-in-new-york-friday-june-12-2020For those that think Covid is not a big deal or a hoax or just like the flu, take it from someone in NYC. In my area I walked by 2 funeral homes on my way to run errands. They have refrigerated trucks in their parking lots. Still. Let me tell you, that gave me chills the first time I walked by and saw that.

People want to think it’s not that serious and not wear a mask and go back to normal and in the process all they’re doing is getting sicker. Why doesn’t the governor demand mandatory mask wearing? No going to HEB or Walmart without a mask. No going to restaurants for the time being even if you can because you don’t think it’s a big deal. The governor needs to step up. The concepts are simple and yet there is so much resistance and flippancy over something that kills people.
The girls asked me why our state is partially opening up if cases are going up? We at least have mandatory mask orders in our county but I don’t think all counties are requiring it.

Jennifer , a lot of the reporting agencies don't report on the weekends. Are these new hospitalizations or total?? ETA: sorry, didn't notice the date. So it is trending down?

I've been tracking the numbers in my state - Maryland - for about a month now. We've had a lot of cases - 61,701 as of today and sadly 2,811 deaths. But hospitalizations are down over 1000 people in the last month, with 500 less in just the last two weeks, so I was happy to see that.
Now I want to see how the next several weeks go since we are opening back up again after several months. Masks are still mandatory in stores, so I hope that helps.
I saw an interesting video yesterday that showed how long "droplets" stayed in the air after someone in a room coughed - it was up to 20 minutes later and they were still there! I wish more people could understand how much the mask helps.

We at least have mandatory mask orders in our county but I don’t think all counties are requiring it. I saw some reporting from Orange County CA the other day and almost no one was wearing masks on a crowded boardwalk. When asked, a guy replied "because we don't like to be told what to do." Carry on. Ignorant fool.

CJ, I agree. From what I have heard even if restrictions are partially lifted, if 100% of people wore face coverings, the spread is lowered. Those droplets are no joke.

Ignorant fool. I swear. The no mask wearers because of “ma freedoms” are the new anti vaxxers. They care more about themselves than humanity as a whole. And it’s not like wearing a mask prevents them from enjoying freedoms. It’s a fricken cloth mask. Not a straight jacket.
