finreporter, yes, I resisted watching PBS Reconstruction for a while because I knew it would be difficult. However, not as difficult as it was and is for the subjects of the documentary. I feel like I owe it to them and to myself. P.S. It is currently airing on our Calif. PBS station right now. It's been on for 25 minutes already.

I finally saw a close-up photo of the "garage pull" rope that was not deemed a hate crime. Definitely a noose. Only 11 other garages had rope pulls, only this one was fashioned into a noose. It may be a coincidence that Wallace was assigned that garage; they claim all assigned ramdomly, but it sure as shooting a hate crime against a people. Maybe hate crimes are only defined if it is against an individual?
Faux News (Tucker Carlson) said the other day that EVERY garage had a rope pull down on the door, and they were all identical to the one in Bubba's garage. Think he'll correct that? Me neither.

doesn't NASCAR make millions of dollars? why are the garages with rope pulls to begin with? don't they have high-tech automatic fancy garage doors?
and i agree that it was not randomly assigned. they may say it was, but it is interesting that the only black race driver in that circuit got that particular garage. that sport bowed at the foot of the racist flag up until june 10th, 2020. they don't suddenly remove all traces of racism, including someone's sick joke to have a noose shaped rope in any of the garages.

Can't they trace who all has used that garage in the past to figure out who is responsible? Uh, yeah, it's a noose. Looks like a lot of trouble to fashion; must be knowledge passed down through the generations. Or probably available online these days.

yeah the whole thing is ridiculous. no one will fess up even from years back whoever did it. and no one will fess up that it was no accident that bubba ended up with that "randomly selected" garage. right. the one and only black race car driver in that circuit just "happened" to get the one garage with a noose as a pull when the rest had a pull NOT in the shape of a noose.
so stupid.

just wanted to post this here because it is something malcolm X had mentioned as well.
“First, I must confess that over the past few years I have been gravely disappointed with the white moderate. I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro’s great stumbling block in his stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen’s Counciler or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate, who is more devoted to “order” than to justice; who prefers a negative peace which is the absence of tension to a positive peace which is the presence of justice; who constantly says: “I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I cannot agree with your methods of direct action”; who paternalistically believes he can set the timetable for another man’s freedom; who lives by a mythical concept of time and who constantly advises the Negro to wait for a “more convenient season.” Shallow understanding from people of good will is more frustrating than absolute misunderstanding from people of ill will. Lukewarm acceptance is much more bewildering than outright rejection.” -Martin Luther King Jr, Letter From Birmingham Jail

There is no such thing as a more convenient season.
Excuse me, sir? Is this season convenient enough for you to acknowledge Blacks, Women, Gays and Lesbians, Immigrants, etc. are your equals? Perhaps even more superior than some of you?
MLK Jr. was such a brilliant man. A thinker. A humble peace maker.
He is missed.
I cringe when I think of what's sitting in the Oval Office. The exact opposite of humble and thoughtful.
Pathetic.

The thing is those spewing, "all lives matter" are too cowardly to say what they really mean, which is Black lives really don't matter to them, nor do Immigrant lives, the lives of children torn from Mom's arm and thrown in cages, people living on the street, etc.
Here is what they really mean but are too cowardly to say, "Shut up and go away now! You already had a Black president what else do you want? Now excuse me, I'm late for my bible study."

If this couple had a sign with "Stupid Lives Matter!" on their lawn, how would they like it if someone took down their sign?
The owner should sue them for stealing or destroying their lawn decoration, and for trespassing. Nasty Dumb asses.

I'll recommend United Shades of America on CNN again. It is up to episode three, but I bet they are all available On Demand. Airs Sunday night. So far Kamau Bell (the host) has covered systemic racism, the challenges family farms face, and inequality of education opportunity.
