National California Strawberry Day National Common Courtesy Day National Fragrance Day National French Bread Day National Single Parent Day National Ag Day – Changes Annually Thought this was an interesting tidbit on how it came to be. "French bread, also known as a baguette, is a long thin loaf made from basic lean dough. It is defined by its length and its crisp crust. Over time, French law has established what is and what is not a baguette. Beginning in 1920 a labor law prevented bakers from starting their day before 4 a.m. Bakers adjusted by shaping their loaves of bread, so they baked more quickly and evenly. As a result, the long, narrow loaves were found to be convenient for slicing and storing." www.nationaldaycalendar.com/march/________________________________________________________ This is a World Day that wasn't on the national calendar but I wanted to do a special shout out for it. It is World Down Syndrome Day and they are asking people to wear brightly colored clothing or mismatched bright socks, so people will ask about it. Most of you have heard all about what a special guy my oldest son is, I am truly blessed. So rock those socks! I just want to add, if I ever miss something and anyone wants to add anything please feel free to post it. These are your boards 😀

*cracks up* doordie50 you are hoot! Love it! Aw how sweet hpeterson1951 ! It popped up on my FB feed, I didn't have a clue either. And thank you, he's got those devilish Irish eyes that light up a room, always smiling! Will do digging beforehand for that day to see if they have anything special associated with it. I know we have quite a few moms here with kids on the spectrum like my DS2. Thanks for the reminder! *Just googled, on April 2nd they are asking people to wear blue, use a blue lightbulb to "light up" autism awareness.

Deb. Am I understanding right- You have one son with Autism and one son with Down Syndrome? That's a very patient parent! You have two special boys and they have a special mama!
We had a meeting for my kiddo. He is not in Florida, he is still in the hotel. Everyone has been called in, so the mother moved back in with the grandmother temporarily. He should be back in school tomorrow. Part of the battle has been won! I know where he is, he'll be back here tomorrow. Now we need to get them permanent housing and see if we can weed through all the lies.

Yes hpeterson1951, Eric has DS and TJ has Asperger's (aka high-functioning autism or whatever term they are calling it now, I can never keep up with the changes and the PC terms, ha!) they keep me hopping, thank you! I am SO happy at the news of your student *whew* maybe the grandmother can get temporary custody? Poor child, what a heartbreaking situation. Thank you 100gone!

You are a very special mama, and I'm sure your boys are very special. I know my "boys" are each very special in their own way. For 8 hours a day for 180 days those kids are with me and I have them from 3-4 years, so they become "my kids".
For Autism awareness day you can wear blue- for AutismSpeaks "light it up blue" campaign or you can wear a puzzle piece pin. The puzzle piece is the international symbol of Autism. Puzzle piece ribbon can be bought at Wal mart and made into ribbons, or you can just paint puzzle pieces and put a pin backing on the back with hot glue. Cheap fundraisers. -just some ideas
