Ginny, I knew you would be helping and a lot I'm sure. I know what you will also be helping beforehand if needed. Congrats on getting the baby afgan completed.
When I worked on that afgan before I kept making mistakes. Mostly in forgetting to do blo but also in the stitches/So today it got above 90. I'm not sure how high it actually got for sure. I decided early to come downstairs where it's about 15 degrees cooler and started a filet heart blanket.(So much for the small items I mentioned)It's a fun blanket but I'm not sure I'm going to have enough yarn.I'll have to see what all colors I have that might go with this. It's Vanna's choice yarn so is a nice #4 weight yarn that is a little thicker than most so it's hard to match in that respect if you have to go to another brand. I think it's about the same as RH with Love but I don't have any appropriate colors in that either. I'll rummage thru my stash tomorrow and see what I can find.
I hope you all have a good night's sleep and that tomorrow is cooler so more what you all enjoy.I don't mind it being cooler than it was today but I do hate winter.

Good morning all- Ruth (gee for once I am giving you crochetting advice??? Ha ha ha- this is a first and a last) With that pattern, I no longer count stitches- the afghan is done in a 3 stitch series (sc,dc,dc) and when I have to check myself I count humps - each hump being that 3 stitch series. It makes it a tiny bit easier. And I love using the blo- and the way that simple change makes such a big difference. Thanks for the input on Vanna’s choice- I have never worked with it before but have seen it in Joanns...always nice to know of another good yarn. of course the variation in weight is frustrating and something I will never figure out how the same weight yarns (supposedly) are not the same weight. Hope you can find something that works with the Vanna yarn. Sorry I am not a fan of 90 degree weather. Here the weather changed, and at least last night I was able to open the windows as our temperatures overnight went into the high 50’s.. Don’t mind daytime highs in the 80’s as much if the evenings are cool.
I did get Dd#2’s room all stain blocked last night. Hoping to get to Lowes today to get the paint I want to put in that room. I really like the soft grey (with a hint of green) that I have in the living room, so I will use that color. Just something nice and neutral and soothing....will look well with my quilt in my sewing room.
I will go back to pillow cases for awhile- I am about half way through the second one. After that I might make a baby afghan to donate to the hospital
Guess I’d better get cleaned up and head to Lowes. Ginny

Ginny, that soft gray with the little hint of green sounds perfect for that room and the quilt and antique headboard and nightstand. I can picture it and it looks great. Yes it's a great idea to count the bumps instead of individual stitches. I thought the stitch was the combe of the three stitches and I think it was always the last dc that I missed now and then and didn't get the right bump. I know exactly where ithe afgan is for a change so I may get it and work on it between other projects. Does your hospital accept home made items? Some don't or they have specific rules about fiber and 'washability.
It's supposed to be another hot day today.

We took hb's dog to the vet yesterday afternoon. It was easily 90 degrees. People were out at the "pond" near the vet. Too may, not distancing, but the idea of floating sounded good. Dog had rabies shot and toenails cut. The vet gave hb her lecture about the dangers of dog being overweight since he's already had back issues twice. hb keeps giving dog treats, part of his dinner. It's been an ongoing issue for many years, including with his previous dog. He agreed to stop, but I don't know if he will. I'm going to cut up a small piece of jerky and put it into a baggy. Dog may have an infection or cancer. Glands in his chest are swollen. We'll wait and see. Dog and hb are about the same age.
Biggest increase in state covid 19 cases so far. 37 cases yesterday. 7 in our county. I am not comfortable going out, but I don't think I will have to now. The vets' office was the most careful of all. I wouldn't have gone in, but the balance of hb, dog and hb is unusual. Each of four vets does regular visits one day a week, surgery one day a week. The rest of the time, it's the techs going out and bring the dog inside and phone conversation with the vet while the owner is outside in the car. With any of the other dogs, that's how it would be handled.
I really like Vanna's choice. Huge color selection.
We're having cooler weather today and rain in the forecast for several days.

Good evening-
Ruth, yes its an easy afghan....take it out and hopefully you can finish it. I dislike counting stitches - counting the bumps works for me- and as I know each bump is 3 stitches it makes it easy to keep track of what you are doing. Yes, the local hospital takes donations- or at least they used to before Covid.
Sue- your experience with the Vet sounds like mine- my vets office was very careful. Good luck getting Dh to stop giving the dog treats!!! Glad you do not have to go out. I gotta say, as long as you are careful- wearing a mask and social distancing and washing your hands well - the risk is minimal.
Started painting the walls, got some of it trimmed out. I Like the color- it looks good to me!
Still not here but not quite as bad. Think we have a day or so off, and then this weekend it will be warmer. Yuck Ginny

I don't have pets so no problem with vets.
Cases of covid are increasing here too. I talked to my old nursing school roomate today. She lives in Arizona where cases are skyrocketing. She and her husband have a lot of medical conditions. Amoung them all, she has MS and he has Parkinson's.
I love Vanna White yarn too because it's nice and thick. Of course they don't sell it anywhere here so I have to get it online. I have a lot of it but in the wrong colors. I have a men's colors in it and in Wool Ease.I'm going to make a lot of men's hats though because everywhere you donate they mention that they never get enough men and boy hats because everyone wants to make cute girl hats.
I'm almost done of the first heart section of my blanket. I have several more sections to go. I had a hard time figuring it out until I gave up and made my own graph. The written pattern the designer provided might as well have been in Greek. It was extremely confusing. I was looking for some little things to work on this morning and found a lot of headbands...not the heavy earwarmers but just light bands which my grandaughters can all use so I'll make a bunch of those.
I am going to get that afgan and work on it, Ginny. Also my cabbage patch stitch one.(I won't mention the other six that have been sitting even longer waiting to be completed)

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today Ginny - I'm glad you like the paint you chose for your DD's room. Sounds like you have a few crafting projects to work on. I meant to say to you earlier this week that I hope things went went on Father's Day. I know the first holiday without someone can be really tough Ruth - You always have such interesting projects that you work on, thanks for telling them about them I hope the virus cases don't grow too much in your state. It's alarming to see them rising all over the country again. My state has so far managed to keep going down in cases, deaths, and hospitalizations and I that will continue since we have had so many here. Sue - I'm glad your DH was able to get his dog to the vet and I'm glad to hear there had good practices in place. Hope the virus cases don't go up in your state either. Phyl and Meg - Hope you are crafting away I like to work on my quilts in the morning and later and night, I seem to be too busy to do it during the middle of the day, even though I pretty much don't get anything done all day The last two mornings I've had phone calls from old co-workers that lasted over an hour each and by then I didn't feel like working on my quilts. Very frustrating Finally this morning I did get the latest block for the Silver Linings quilt done. I'd really like to make a second set of these blocks in some different colors, so I'm thinking about that. They are small though and I don't like dealing with all the small seams and pieces. I looked at the ones I've done so far and the predominant color is a dusty pink - that stands out when I step away from them. I'm going to try to add some darker colors in over the next few blocks to balance that out a bit. It's been hot and humid here some days. One day I was able to open the windows for most of the day since the humidity was so low and there was a breeze. That was nice. I'm interested to see how the Sahara Dust cloud is going to affect the skies in my area this weekend. Take care everyone and have a great weekend

I forgot to mention the paint. I'm glad it looks as good on the walls as you thought it would. So many times I've painted and the colors didn't turn out like they were shown on the cards.
CJ, I, too, was on the phone for a long time yesterday with an old friend but I finally had to go because I just couldn't take being on there any longer. I'm just not a phone person. I sure hope that SAhara dust doesn't get to either you nor Ginny. A bit of my family lives in NC so they're concerned about the dust also.
Well I think I got my pattern all redesigned. IN the actual pattern there are rows and rows of hearts. I didn't like how that looks because they're large hearts and there would have been to many large open blocks so I'm doing hearts at one end then a section of white, a small section of a rose color, another of white then the last section of hearts. I'm also going to turn the graph upside down and make the hearts to that no matter which end of the blanket you're looking at the hearts will be facing. I also got my list of triangle scarves that I want to make for Christmas made. Some are shawl patterns but I'll just make them shorter.
It's hot here today but only in 80's which feels hot enough for me. The humidity must be higher than usual because it's more uncomfortable.
I just went down to my mailbox and the paper the Senator's office sent me was there so I signed and put it in to go back so now they can contact the stimulus people in my behalf. We'll see what happens.Otherwise I'm just going to give up but they better not try to tax me for this money we didn't get!

Well today was just one of those days that seemed to keep coming at me......
Just for laughs I checked my tax refund- and they have still not processed my tax return. Ruth, i hope your stimulus check makes it soon.... Don’t think that I am supposed to see any impact from the Sahara dust, but perhaps CJ being a bit south from me will. They say its supposed to make for some pretty sunsets. I think that is really cool that you are redesigning the hearts on the afghan so that they are facing the edge you are looking at. That is talent, Ruth. And Ruth, I hope your family in NC and your friends in Az stay safe.
CJ- bet it was nice chatting with those former coworkers, but also a bit frustrating that you did not get any quilting in. The humidity does seem to be building (as they predicted). Tonight I will not open the windows, it is not supposed to get that cool tonight. Looking ahead at the week, well we have a week full of summer weather. Sorry, I prefer the cooler temps.
This am I finished painting the room...and now my color selection was that I liked the living room color and chose to use it in this bedroom. It looks good. Got a few places to touch up. then had a doctors appointment....then Dd came over and we went to look at some furniture for her new house (closing was today). Then my friend and her Dh came over to view Poldark. Very busy day....no time to craft...
Hope everyone has a good weekend. Hi to Phyl and Sue Ginny

Well, my car is loaded up with stuff for both DD’s- of course most of the stuff is Dd#2’s. Gotta run a few errands. And it looks to be a warm and humid day. It will be good to get home and get some crafting time in later on. Happy Saturday all Ginny

Ginny, congratulations to your dd on her new home! Yes you did indeed have a very busy day yesterday and I'll bet you will have another today. You'll get to each of the dd's homes and find things to help them with. Congratulations to you also in getting that painting done. They do seem to be taking a very long time processing tax returns.
As far as my stimulus check goes the woman emailed me yesterday and said she was on hold to whatever office she was attempting to call to ask about my check. She never did get anyone so sent an email asking them to call her on Monday.
I didn't get much further on my blanket yesterday. The stitch I'm using on the middle part takes a lot of time. Funny thing, yesterday I was making pulled pork and wondered what dh was going to eat it on because we had no buns. Well soon the neighbor came to the door saying he made too much food and decided to distribute it to neighbors. Inside the bag was a small container of pulled pork and a pack of buns! I didn't tell him I had some cooking. I just thanked him several times and took his offering.

Good evening!! Well, Ruth you have progress and hopefully a good chance of seeing your stimulus check . Sounds like she is being diligent- trying to contact by both email and phone. Who is the blanket you are working on for? What stitch is causing you so much frustration? How very sweet of your neighbor to bring over some pulled pork....and how ironic that you were making some also. I am sure yours was better....sounds as though you have nice neighbors.
Yes busy day for me. I got some straightening up done here- still cannot locate my debit card (I have checked the bank and it has not been used, I am pretty convinced its in the house). And I got the DVR player shipped- what a pain in the neck that was.. I spent a lot of time on the phone with samsung who will repair it for free- but their system to accommodate returns Is cumbersome. Anyway, its in the mail and hopefully will be back and repaired soon.
Dd#2’s house is adorable. The seller put most of his efforts in the kitchen /living room area to make it look more modern. Overall, he did a nice job. Dd and her Dh should be very happy there. Dd#1 and I went to Christmas tree shops to pick up a few things as housewarming gifts for Dd#2. ( who I will see tomorrow). I did also load my car with more stuff for Dd#2. I will stop in to see her again tomorrow after church. Think I have one more carload of stuff to take to Dd.
Hope everyone had an enjoyable Saturday Ginny

Ginny, it sounds like you got a lot accomplished again today.I'm sure it was fun going shopping to look at furniture for the new house for your dd and it sounds like today you and the other dd#2 some nice things to use for decorating
Well I only really know one of my neighbors well because he's a very gregarious man.He also loves helping people and in general, keeping busy. He's the one that mows our lawn "just because" sometimes and also sometimes just pops over and plows snow. He's always giving us things and I'm sure he always gives to other neighbors too. The other neighbor that in the next closest house only speaks if and when she walks by which is rarely or if she wants something like recently wanting to drive her garden equipment across our property. The other one that's fairly near calls out to me when she's in her yard and sees me in mine and we chat but that's only about once or twice a year.I'm just not a very sociable person.I enjoy the short chats but I don't like to get involved in coffee klatches, etc.
I wasn't having trouble really with a stitch it's just that is is the moss stitch (single crochet, chain one) and it just takes time. I was going to put that other pink in the middle of the blanket but when I got it out again I found that it's more of a red and doesn't work well at all so I have to rethink that and probably will try to find another yarn in another color to put there or end up having the entire middle of the blanket white with the pink only on five inches at each end...that's all the pink I have. I do have a nice grey I could put in there. Pink and grey really look good together in a blanket. Everyone seems to be making blankets now with those colors, pink, grey and white. Guess that's why Micheal's, Joann's, and most other places seem to always be out of it.I have one skein which is just enough for five inches in the middle of the white. I made a mistake in beginning the blanket and got it wider than I planned on so now have to have it long enough to look right with the limited amount of Vanna yarn that I have.

Ruth, I learn something from you frequently about crochetting. Had no idea what the moss stitch is (in addition to your good description I went on a web site to see what it looks like). Its pretty and they claim its stretchy? Yes, pink and grey (or teal and grey) are very popular right now and would look great on an afghan. I am sure you will work out something so that it looks great, I am sure you will find some creative way to finish up the limited supply of Vanna yarn you have and still make this look really nice.
Just nice that you have pleasant neighbors- even if its not a constant relationship- decent neighbors can make a big difference. It is comforting to know that if you needed help that they would stand by you and Dh.
Dd#2 is trying to find some used furniture for her home....one issue they encountered yesterday is that the doors are small - so they cannot buy an oversized couch, as it wont fit in the doors! The house is a raised ranch, so they can get a slightly larger couch by bringing it up onto the deck and through the sliding door from the deck to the house. They will figure it out. DD#1 and I did find some cute decor items for Dd#2’s house...i will stop over to see Dd#2 after church.
I have done too much lifting and carrying in the past few days and feel it. I got the curtains hung in the room I just painted- and its starting to look pretty. Think I am starting to reach the point where I can focus on my sewing area in that room and get back to working on getting the binding on my BOM quilt.
Happy Sunday all- Hi to Phyl, Sue and CJ and all else who stop by Ginny

Hello Crafters Ginny - Sounds like you have been busy at home and with helping your DDs. I'm glad you are able to spend time with them. I hope you get your tax refund soon too. Ruth - I try not to get too involved with my neighbors like you. It's not that difficult since most of us don't talk to each other or even acknowledge each other when we're outside There is one that I talk to sometimes when I see him outside. It's not like when I was a kid, we knew everyone in all the houses around us and talked all the time. Sure was different back then. I hope you hear something on your stimulus check soon. Phyl, Meg and Sue - Hope you are getting some crafting in. I finished putting together the apple quilt. It's as big as the canning jar quilt and just as long. When you look at it all you see are apples, but I guess that was what I wanted to achieve Even though I have several projects coming up in July and a few ongoing ones, I pulled out the feedsacks I've been collecting at quilt shows for several years and I'm going to make something with them. I think I'll do a variation of that pretty aqua strip quilt I showed you pictures of recently. I'm cutting them up into 3 inch wide strips and I'll see how it goes from there. I had ordered some quilting things from a few different places a few weeks ago. Here's the fabric I ordered from one of them: www.rebsfabstash.com/products/snowy-wishes-per-yard-jennifer-pugh-for-wilmington-prints-adorable-christmas-fabricIt's a nice feeling fabric. I think it will be fun to add some silver and red fabrics and make a quilt with it. Hope you are all staying cool and safe from the virus. I'm glad that my state has had fewer cases and also that hospitalizations are going down. But it's terrible to see the increase in other states. Take care and have a great day!
