I'm at the salon my client just said, isn't it interesting that we have all these surges in cases and no one is mentioning the protesters? Yeah, well. Plenty of people are mentioning the protestors, Memorial Day beachfests and BBQ's, etc, etc, etc. If someone is more interested in finding someone to blame I guess they can spend their time doing that. I saw a LOT more masks on protestors than I saw on the Memorial Day revellers and the people whooping it up in bars. Or the people in my own neighborhood who got together for Mother's Day, Memorial Day, and beyond. At this point NO ONE should be going out without a damn mask. It may seem harsh but honestly, I have to question a person's basic intelligence when I see them without a mask in public. All the evidence proving their effectiveness is out there. They are not making a statement about their "freedom"---they're showing the world how clueless they are. that picture is brilliant!

Fin I'm not saying the majority of people in HEB and Walmart don't wear masks because most of them do.I just wish those 2 stores would make it mandatory like the little convenience store is doing now with at least a sign on the door.

i know, but it's like playing whack a mole. we need everyone to wear them if everyone is indoors in a 4 walled space with AC which can also spread it around. the governor needs to require them state-wide.

I work PT as a cashier in a car dealership. Even though we have a sign up at the entrance that customers need to wear masks and one will be provided if needed, today one woman dropped off her car for service and proceeded to the waiting room without a mask. After a few minutes she came up to the counter to ask for a bottle of water. Even though I am masked and behind plexiglass, I backed up from the window and explained to her that we no longer provide bottled water for our customers. She threw her hands up while she was saying “really, what else” and stomped back into the waiting room. No respect whatsoever.
Why is the concept of wearing a mask so difficult to comprehend?

I wonder how she would have responded to the question about how she feels about Trump's rallies? You know where no one is wearing a mask. Or Pence's obscene reply to a reporter's question about those rallies and the lack of masks and social distancing. What planet did this guy come from?? People are suffering, DYING, faced with lifelong disabilities if they do survive. Unbelievable. “The freedom of speech, the right to peaceably assemble, is enshrined in the constitution of the United States,” said Pence, who leads the task force. “And we have an election coming up this fall.” www.cnbc.com/2020/06/26/coronavirus-pence-defends-trump-campaign-rallies-despite-surge-in-cases.html

oh do they? do americans have the right to peaceably assemble? is that why the peaceful protesters were gassed and shot with rubber bullets for a front of a church photo op?

But nowhere does it say that this assembly cannot be done with people wearing masks, or in a safer way. The whole party is nuts.

Now if HEB and Walmart would follow along My HEB and Wal-Mart both have signs saying masks are required. I don't know what would happen if someone walked in without one. Everyone I saw had a mask on. Talk to your managers about requiring the masks or you won't return.

linda72 HEB and Walmart both have signs saying face masks are recommended. Back in April HEB even had police outside to ensure people were wearing masks and not letting in people without them but since Abbott will not require it state wide our county leaders are wimps and think it's not up to the business to enforce it.Since there are only the two stores in Elgin you have to go to one or the other.I have noticed Walmart seems to be doing more business than HEB but some of that is leftover from when there were lines outside HEB. I also heard some Walmarts are going to self checkout only and a lot of people who normally wouldn't use self checkout are using it now and sometimes there is even a line to use self checkout. Our HEB doesn't have self checkout.

borntexan, Both of our stores have self check-out and there is frequently a line at the one at Walmart. My Walmart also has one-way signs on the floor which many ignore. As the aisles are really long, I understand why some people ignore them to pick up something they want. I go early in the day and both stores are seldom crowded. I generally don't go on the weekend. Both stores are well stocked now but there are still odd things missing. There are signs up stating there is a shortage of aluminum (?) so canned drinks are often missing. For instance, while there is plenty of coke, diet coke and coke zero, there is no diet root beer by Coke called Barq's. I don't know why.

For those who shop at Walmart and find that items are missing, you might consider Walmart.com. No traipsing up and down aisles looking for stuff that isn't there, no unnecessary time spent among other shoppers.
If you do, one caveat: Walmart.com sometimes thinks it is Amazon.com and allows third-party sellers to include their items on the Walmart.com site. I avoid those sellers and stick to stuff sold by Walmart.com.
Orders come very quickly---most in 2-3 days. I unbox and disinfect in my garage and it's a lot less exhausting than in-store shopping. Just a thought if you'd like to avoid the mask-less Covidiots in the store.

linda72, Our HEB isn't a HEB Plus so they don't have self checkout and yes on the people in Walmart ignoring the one way aisles.I buy bottled diet drinks so I have only found them being out of Sprite zero once in awhile and sometimes diet A&W Root Beer. fullmahina Our Walmart has the 2-3 day shopping but not on perishable foods.I don't mind going in there as much because most people wear masks at our Walmart and they wipe down the self checkouts between people using them.

i consume a lot of seltzer water now and buy the canned versions. my von's and ralphs (kroger) are frequently out of the flavors i like but not necessarily low on canned seltzers in general.
last time i went, they also were out of kraft blue box mac and cheese (the kind that kids like). it is a little strange the things that are out of stock. TP and paper towels are all back in stock lately which is good.
