Fin,
Have you been to Hawaii? We haven't, just never interested in traveling a lot especially over seas.
Would be nice to live in Hawaii though to see the rainbows daily. We have not been there but my sweet mate at college lived in Hawaii and was going to school here in the states.

What they also have are gorgeous sunsets.

Luanne,

Luanne, I take it you've been there, if so, did you like it? We love it. We own a timeshare on Maui, and have since 1986. For a period of time we went every year. Then we took a break for a bit, and now we're back to every year again. We used to go during the summer when our dds were out of school. Now we go in March when the whales are there. We were very lucky this year to be there just before everything fell apart. Currently Hawaii has a 14 day quarantine for anyone entering the state. That will end August 1, but then they will require a negative COVID 19 test within 72 hours of your trip in order not to have to quarantine when you enter. People have been arrested for breaking quarantine, they are very serious about it.
We've been to all of the islands, including Molokai, but Maui is our favorite, followed by the Big Island of Hawaii.

i never lived there so i definitely couldn't speak to them truly being visible everyday (only hyperbolically) but the last time we were there a few years ago there were rainbows each day every day of our trip because it kept raining sporadically throughout the day. my parents used to take me there for family vacations when i was a kid and teenager and then my ex and i took the girls there for christmas one year. they loved it. we have beaches here in los angeles of course but the girls said when we came back that they really want to be at nice beaches like hawaii has! i don't blame them!

Luanne,
How do you like your time share in Hawaii as you hear so many stories about timeshares? Our ex next door neighbor had a time share in Mexico and loved it.
Our son took his family to Hawaii a year and a half ago, at Christmas, they were so surprised at how high prices were, food really expensive to eat out. Our DIL is a flight attendant at the DFW in Dallas, she got free airline tickets for two any place so they only paid for one person to fly. They did have a good time but it was just a few days stay, to short.

We own another one in California, but we use that one mostly to trade. They will tell you going in that timeshares are not a good investment. You don't buy one because you think you'll make money on it. You buy it because you'll use it. The other big piece of advice is to buy on the resale market, not from a developer.
We don't find Hawaii that much more expensive when eating out, but groceries are definitely more expensive.

Luanne,
You are so lucky to own the time share in Maui, I envy you!🤗
The sweet mate I had in college was from Maui, she was so talented with the Hawaii dances she could do.

We lived in Hawaii for fifteen years, in Kailua on the island of Oahu. Food is DEFINITELY more expensive and what many visitors don't realize is that you pay taxes on EVERYTHING in Hawaii, including all foods, doctor's visits, etc etc etc. Utilities, car registration, insurance etc etc etc---all of it is more expensive than on the mainland. You learn to live with it, lol. Yep, lots of rainbows, pretty much daily if you look for them. In one hospital where I worked there were daily rainbows over a valley (Nuuanu) at about 2pm, almost without fail. Here is a picture of a double one taken from the front door of my house.
