f i could live in hawaiii, i'd die to live in a vladimir ossipoff house. this one below has a view of diamond head. A friend of mine was a real estate broker on Oahu and I went with her once to look at an Ossipoff in Nuuanu Valley. Very cool but very strange layout. The valley is lush and wet and the house suffered from a lot of rot, mildew, and ground termite damage. Smelled like a dank basement. Still, it was fascinating and the grounds were beautiful, streams and jungle landscaping.

New Yorks police departments budget has been slashed by 1 billion, read link below:
amp.cnn.com/cnn/2020/07/01/us/new-york-budget-nypd-1-billion-cut-trnd/index.htmlI wonder if this defunding will encourage NY police to have Blue Flu on the 4th, defunding link above. My understanding is the NY Blue Flu for the 4th of July was not supposed to be in the news pror to the 4th of July. So it will be interesting to see what happens.

mac , she said fifteen years. Living in Cali I've been visiting the Islands since the 70s. A lot of changes, to be sure. We purchased a condo in Maui in 2000 (stock market bubble - thank you), but only spend about 10 days a year there and rent it out the rest of of time. Who knows when we'll get back. DH keeps booking flights and then pushing them out. Currently no rental activity going on, obviously. I've never been on a visit when I haven't seen a couple of rainbows minimum. Once a moonbow - so cool!

finreporter, That's a gorgeous house, but it doesn't scream "Hawaii" to me.
lani, My first trip to Hawaii was in 1968 when my parents took my sister and I after I graduated from high school. We hit the 4 major islands in two weeks. I went back for a couple of weeks between my sophomore and junior years of college with one of my friends. We stayed on Oahu in Waikiki. One of the BEST vacations I've ever had. Then didn't go back again until I was married to my first husband. Current husband and I bought our timeshare in 1986 when we were there a month of so after we got married. Living on the west coast it was easy to get over.
We were seriously considered retiring to Hawaii, on the Big Island. The area we liked was one that got wiped out with the latest volcano flows. I had already decided that I couldn't live on an island, and now here we are, landlocked, lol.

luanne, the architect was influenced by mid-century modern and japanese architecture. he wasn't going for a hawaiian theme. fullmahina, that house you linked to is amazing! though it hurts my sensibilities to see some of the "upgrades" they did to it! like the kitchen and bathrooms. i wish they'd restored instead of overhauled it to look like a rental.

Anyone else having fireworks going off in their neighborhood tonight? We have several idiots setting off loud, terrible smelling fireworks in our neighborhood tonight which is really disgusting. We usually don't have this many neighbors setting them off. Definitely a big increase in this here because they canceled most fireworks in our area. Thankful this will only happen a couple more nights! I feel bad for my teacher friend who lives a block from us, she has a dog who is really terrified of all the noise, she has a thunder jacket for the dog which helps.

mac, a moonbow is the same as a regular rainbow (refraction of light in water droplets), only formed around the moon instead of the sun. The "bow" looks white instead of the spectrum we see with a rainbow. The only one I've seen was a complete circle around the full moon. Wikipedia noted moonbows have been mentioned since 350 BC.
