That is incredible footage of the dust cloud! I live in the west so I didn't get to see it. My DB lives in Detroit, I am going to ask him if he can see it.

I've been sneezing a lot the past 4-5 days. Even my husband is sneezing and he doesn't usually have allergies. (Texas coast)

Speaking of a dust cloud this is a somewhat long story. I grew up in the Los Angeles area and moved to Connecticut in 1979. In the early 1990's I would go back to California to take care of my father. I had a rental car while I was there. Initially my father was staying in "senior" apartments with meals, house cleaning, and laundry. Well the little old ladies all decided I missed California and really wanted to move back there. I would tell them no, I liked Connecticut. What I didn't say was I didn't want to move back to their dirty air. Every morning there would be a layer of dirt on the car, also sometimes the air was so thick I couldn't see the hills and we were maybe a half mile from them. Although since we were on the side of a hill on the nights it was clear the view was wonderful out over the lights.

bbbearsmom, Interesting story. Was there a lot of dust in the air when you were younger in Los Angeles? It seems like our air here was so much better when we were young before they put in a power plant that we're downwind of. You can see the huge white smoke cloud it produces. They will be closing the plant next year which we are so happy about, its just a few miles away from us. We don't even get our power from them just the unhealthy smoke it produces as well as the damage its done to Lake Michigan and our fish!

mac, The town I lived in was Whitter and the old section was Uptown because it was on the side of the hills. We went to church in uptown and on the way home we went down a street where we could see the Los Angeles City Hall from Dragnet straight ahead, maybe 20 miles away. Well I remember one Christmas day coming home from church and the air was so dirty you couldn't see city hall. I was out in a sailboat once off of Santa Monica and you could see the buildings along the water but behind that it was all whited out by the dirty air. There are mountains and hills around the Los Angeles basin and whether or not you could see them depended on the quality of the air.

Bbbearsmom,
So you had unhealthy air way back when you were young in your hometown. Interesting how dirty the air was way back then. How is the air quality in Connecticut?
I'm so thankful our air is fairly good on the lake but many days it's hazy and foggy out there, not sure if that's pollution or not as we have that white smoke billowing out of the power plant.
Our lake is so amazing, we had the most beautiful rainbow on our lake this morning according to the weather at lunch today. We had a double rainbow a couple weeks ago in the opposite direction of the sky. Not sure what's up with all the rainbows. 🤗

The dust is no fun for people with allergies.

borntexan, I agree about the allergies with this dust cloud. Is it causing allergies for you? Our son lives in Dallas and his allergies were bad this past weekend from the dust. How's the new knee doing?

Thanks for asking mac. Yes allergies are bad just about in any part of Texas with dust or pollen. My knee is better but still not all the way healed. I'm still going to PT where they are mostly working on a little fine tuning and my balance but I'm so glad I had it done.

mac, My husband says our air is fair to poor because of the coal-fired plants in Ohio. He says our state has been suing them for years.
