Well I have my dishes all done and kitchen pretty much cleaned up and one load of laundry in the dryer and another in the washer so now I'm sitting and having a half cup of coffee.
Well I ripped out that blanket I was working on. The more I worked the more I disliked it. I found a better pattern for filet hearts and started a new blanket last night and in a new color too. The other pattern was difficult because obviously English was not the primary language of the woman that made the youtube and, although I followed her instructions closely and even started it over twice, It came out to six hearts instead of five which is what made it too wide. It could have been the closed captioning. I use that when following a youtube. Sometimes they don't get the captioning right. Also the hearts were more open. This new one is going well so I'm happier.I'd like to get a doll crocheted before the end of June for my oldest dggd who will be three.(After that day 3 of my 4 great grands will be 3 years old)

Not sure where today went....I slept a bit late ( went back to bed after getting up early) . I needed the sleep. Got my walk in and then attempted to get some work done here. I had a lunch date with a woman from church, pleasant enough time. Then I thought I was going home to a quiet afternoon and Dd asked if they could come over. So it was a busy afternoon- and just finished with Bible study.
Ds just got home from work. Gonna check in with him. Ginny

I ended up watching a few videos yesterday on preparing a large quilt for the binding. Probably at some point today I will get to start on that process. I also want today to finish steel woofing the second wrought iron night stand. My girlfriend (who was over for a little bit last week) convinced me to use that table also to put on the other side of the bed. Yesterday started getting it ready to spray paint. Once I get the table done and the quilt bound, the room will pretty much be done. Think if I get to HL this week with Dd#2 to help find some decorating items for her home, I might look for a something to put on the wall in that room too.
Phyl- very smart of you to get to the chiropractor before you were in a lot of discomfort. With a holiday weekend coming its even possible that your chiropractor is not working a full week. Hope that you can stay comfortable. I too would love to get to a Cracker Barrel. (Nearest one to me is almost an hour drive). Dh and I would go there about twice a year, kind of silly me just driving by myself to get there now. Are there any 4th of July festivities hear you? I have only seen one official fireworks show in the county listed, and I bet that will be super crowded. Kind of sad....fireworks are such a part of Americana.
Ruth- are you planning on finishing the crochetted doll for DGGD by the end of June??? July is only a day away....but I know you crochet with your eyes closed. I had the trouble with crochet patterns when I was looking for a pattern for a baby afghan for DGD and can relate to starting a project and ripping it out. Its good that you found another pattern that will work out for you. Guess you have abandoned working with the Vanna yarn for now? What color are you working with?
Guess I will get my walk in- then have to pick some lettuce from the garden and work on that table.
Sue and CJ- hope you are both doing well Ginny

Ginny, it sounds like a huge job putting binding on that quilt but I'm sure you can do it and will do it well. It will look so beautiful in that room with the antique night stands and headboard. I've always loved wrought iron headboards. Hobby Lobby does have some great decorative items so I hope you find what you're looking for there. I'm not good at all with decorating. Yes I did set aside the Vanna yarn for a different project. I'm not sure what yet. I typed wrong yesterday. I meant to say that the dggd's birthday is the end of July not June.As for the blanket I'm making right now, I'm using POL in antique white because I have a lot of that particular yarn.
I like the pattern I'm using for this blanket but, of course, I'm revising it because it's all double crochet and I don't care for a whole blanket being done in that stitch so for the rows between the sections of hearts I'm using a half double crochet. It not only fills in space but add's a little bit of contrast in texture to the afgan. If I had thought about it I would have made the whole thing in hdc. On the doll, well I got half a leg done so good thing I do have a whole month.I had planned on doing both legs yesterday, two arms today, body tomorrow, etc. It gets boring doing all those rows of sc in the round to make a leg. The foot part is nice but I wish I'd made it in another color so since I don't have much done anyway I may take it out and do that.It will then look like shoes.
You ladies would love it here today. It's actually 70 but feels cold. I don't know if I'll get out and do yard work or not. I should get something done while it's cool.

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well Ruth - I'll take that 70 degree weather Ginny - Hope you can get the binding on your quilt. Phyl - I'm glad you are feeling better after your appointment. Sue and Meg - Hope you are doing some crafting. It's been hot here, but a bit less humid and not much rain. I went out yesterday just to drop a birthday card in the mailbox at the post office. When I came back I cut off some of the lower limbs of the two dead trees in my yard. The guy that cuts my grass said he ran into them the last time he was here, so I hope they are high enough now not to get in his way. I'm going to ask him to cut them both down whenever he has time hopefully this summer. I finished cutting strips out of the feed sacks but I'm not quite sure I want to sew them into strip sets. The colors are mostly pinks and blue, but there is some turquoise and purple, so I'd need to see how they looking laying out together. I also cut the fabrics for the Silver Linings quilt along block for this week and hope to sew it together later. We're up to 7 blocks done now but the #5 block is bothering me. The colors of fabrics I put in that one just clash with the other 6, so I might redo that one with some of the same fabrics I've already used. I'm trying to use each fabric in at least 2 of 12 blocks so that the blocks have some continuity. I'm not really good with a totally scrappy looking quilt Take care everyone!

Good Evening girls. not a whole lot of excitement here today. Maybe that is good.lol.
did spend a little time in my playpen.will go down in a little bit. decide to stop wasting time and work on some projects that need to be done. even if it is only for 30 minutes a day depending on this si joint.
some of these projects should have been done years ago.why do we do this to ourselves as crafters. I can remember when I first started a project had to be done before buying or starting a new one.
then we go to a store and oh I have to have this kit or this fabric then our stash has grow into alot more. hee hee.
same with yarn or other types of crafts.
I did down load the snowflake jelly roll pattern.can not find any pictures of block. phyl

Good morning-
Ruth- IMO, POL in antique white is a stunning color, so I am glad you have a lot of it. It makes a very pretty afghan. Starting that doll now gives you the entire month to complete it. How large a doll is it supposed to make? Being that you have the whole month to make the doll should keep boredom from setting in- you can put it down and crochet something else from time to time.
CJ- gee, I have some trees that need pruning!!! Hope that your lawn man takes the dead trees down at some point, are they smaller trees that will be easy to remove? I have never worked with feed sacks- were you able to cut them with a rotary?? For some reason I envision feed sack fabric as not being as tightly woven as quilting calico- making it a bit challenging to work with. (I could be very wrong...). The colors sound pretty and it should not be too challenging putting them together so they look nice. As far as fabrics for the Silver Linings quilt, well its all about what you think looks nice. I remember seeing a quilted bag made by someone else- the fabric selection was on a technical level pretty- I just did not like the accent color added by the quilter. Make the quilt to please yourself, unless you are going to finish it as a gift.
Phyl- don’t we all suffer from the same malaise?? Starting one project (which we should really finish) and then buying more projects to work on. Did you download the Jelly Snowflake mystery quilt sew along? I looked for a snowflake jelly roll quilt, and that is what I came up with. Sounds like fun.
Gonna get a short walk in and head to the store. Don’t need much but I do have to stock up on snacks in case Dd goes into labor and I have to feed the kids. Got the end table painted and its in the room now. Just waiting for the glass tops to come in which should be in a week or so.
My DVD player is repaired and should be shipped back to me in a day or so. I got a text that it was done.
Thankfully its cooler here-still will go up to 80 today, but its not 90 so that is good.
Have a good day Ginny

good morning, Sadie will Be over today.is bringing us lunch. Sadie stayed with us one summer to finish up her teaching degree.
Sadie and Travis were suppose to get Married on May 16 and the wedding was canceled. they pulled it off with just family being there.
today will be very hot and muggy.
I did get to my playpen after supper again last night.just enough time to put a end boarder on the paper piecing star table runner.
MY question is: I have a red plaid sashing in between the blocks.the strips are 2 inches before sewing the blocks together, now I am trying to make up my mind do I make up my mind make on the boarder. do I keep the boarder the same size or do I keep the boarder at 2 1/2 inches before sewing them on.
guess it is up to what I want to do.there are no set rules.
ok need to have breakfast and do some straightening up in the house. phyl

Hello Crafters Ginny - Hope your trip to the store went well and that you get your DVD back and it works well too. The trees I need cut down are pretty small, I think he'll be able to use his chain saw. I went outside earlier and cut the branches I'd already cut into smaller pieces so I could bag them to put out for pick up. Phyl - The first "clue" for the Jelly Snowflake Sew Along is tomorrow - July 2nd. The next clues after that are on the 9th, 16th and 23rd. It's a short mystery because you repeat blocks in the quilt. They have only given the layout for the quilt so far. When I'm figuring out borders I lay out the border fabric and then lay my quilt center on top of it and see how it looks with different sizes of the border by moving around the quilt center. Sometimes I can tell there is just too much border showing since that's all I see and other times I don't have enough. I also pull out a ruler and measure what the size is once I decide what look I like the best and then I make sure to add 1/2 inch to that since I'll have seams on either side. Hope you can find the size that looks best for your table runner Ruth - Hope you are still having nice weather and getting some crocheting done. Meg and Sue - Hope you are well. I put away the feed sacks since I just wasn't happy with what I was planning for them. Maybe I'll pull them out again in the future. At least they are cut into strips already. The material on them is more of a woven feeling. I finished the weekly block for the Silver Linings quilt along and I redid one of the earlier blocks since I wasn't happy with the fabrics in it. So I'm caught up until next week for this project. I think it ends on August 3rd. The color for the Rainbow Scrappy Quilt this month is dark blue and I was able to find 4 nice dark blue fat quarters and I pressed/starched them this morning and cut out my blocks so I'm ready to sew together the bowties and broken dishes blocks. I'm only going to do one block of the tumblers and I'm using a light blue fabric. I want the tumbler quilt to be all lighter colors so I didn't want to use a dark blue. I'd like to get these all done later today, but at least by this weekend. Along with the Jelly Snowflake Sew Along, there is another mystery quilt along that start tomorrow and I might participate. This one will let people have a glance at what the quilt looks like for those of us who don't really like mysteries, and I'm one of them, so I'll see what it looks like tomorrow. It's hot and humid here with the next several days supposed to be in the 90s - not my favorite weather Take care everyone!

Phyl- I do think CJ’s wisdom is good- to let your eye dictate what appears best to you. Because a red plaid is pretty strong and dominant, you might not want to use it in too much larger of an amount than the sashing. Normally, however, I like a border that is a bit wider than the sashing. I do like the idea of making the border a small bit wider than the sashing. But its all personal taste!!
CJ- think that is great that they will give you a sneak peak of that mystery quilt before you commit. That is one reason I do not get super excited over mystery quilts- I want to know if I will like the pattern or not before I get started. Boy you have been busy quilting this summer!!! Do you think the feed sack strips will have to be stabilized to make the quilt top you are hoping to from them?
Hot and humid here too. Got my friends coming over for dinner and to watch Poldark. Tomorrow I suspect I will be working on the BOM and getting the binding set on it. And its supposed to be hot. As CJ said, not my favorite weather either. Ginny

What kind of sewing machine do you have and do you love/hate it? I'm thinking of upgrading, I have a Singer sew mate (maybe 10 years old) and it is starting to have some issues. I like singer but I'm enticed by the drop in bobbins on Brother machines lol

DOT, I TELL sewers to go to different dealers and try out different machines.take different fabrics with you like shear, jeans, cotton etc the you can see how the machines sew and what make you the most comfortable sewing on.
do not be afraid to go back and try a machine out again.I do tell a customer to stick with a dealer ,that way you know you can go in as many times as you need to learn about the machine. also a dealer can get the part you need. most dealers if they don't sell the machine will not work on a machine.
you are the one that knows what settings you want on a machine. I have a brother 3000 invoinis more machine then I need. took me awhile to like. (pfaff 7510) before. got in 14 and still have not learned everything about it.
I also have an eversewn sparrow 30 for classes. most people I know like whatever machine they have, brother brenina, babylock ,janome etc.
another thing Theresa likes about The BERNIA is she can use the the same feet from one machine to another bernia.
I would stay away from junki.I bought their seger years ago. hate it. harder then hell to thread..NITA bought one of their machines online.lots of problems ,instructions are in japanese. tried to look at their videos on you tube. close caption and the fingers are in the way on the video. she traded it in for a big fancy janome.
so try them out and see what fits your needs.you will know if the brother is the right one for you. good luck. phyl
