This is a monthly thread for those of us who have a lot of weight to lose. The definition of “a lot” is something that is determined personally, so everyone who feels they have a lot of weight to lose is welcome to post here.
Please join us in offering support, checking in for accountability, help with questions, etc. We’re in this for the long haul.
We’d also love to hear from those of you who are maintaining a large loss. We need those tips to help us to keep the weight off once we lose it.

Hi CJ and Rene. For June 30 and July 1 I ate junk constantly. I gained 1.6 pounds. Which isn't too bad. I start over today. I made brown rice in my new microwave rice cooker (sIstema) in 18 minutes and 2 minutes standing. I have a can of Kidney beans. I have carrots in a can. I made 2 cups brown rice for the day. I will have 1/2 cup for breakfast. and 1/2 cup of kidney beans and 1/2 cup of carrots. I go food shopping tomorrow and will buy fresh green beans and sugar snap peas in a bag. And more brown rice and kidney beans and more cans of carrots. I will be plant based again. I use 1 cup brown rice and 2 cups water in Sistemea and 18 minutes and 2 standing later it is done. I am lucky I did not gain more weight. I hurt my knee and hip muscle doing WATP I will get a DVD that is a chair upper body exercise for upper body. I should get it Thursday or Friday. I am determined to lose weight. I have lost over 40 right now. I have my plant based weight loss group Saturdays. We will talk about portion control in Saturday's group.

amrys - Your food choices sound really healthy and I'm glad you got your rice cooker and can use it. Hope your shopping goes well today DotRen - I didn't get to respond in the last thread, but it was funny that your son used the push mower instead of the new one Hope everyone is doing well today!

sunrose49, the big one was open last month but I haven't seen anything on facebook about opening this month (it would be next weekend if they do). The little one has been open the entire time, but as a "drive through" type setting. They're open for real today but with social distancing, masks required, hand sanitizer stations, etc. cj59, amyrs, DotRen, sunrose49, Happy 4th and hope you're all safe

Hello, I am new here. I belong to a challenge group but thought I would look at some of the other groups. I have been trying to find new recipes, especially ones that may have some desserts that don't use artificial sweeteners but are low in carbs. However, what I wanted to say is that I am so glad I peeked in because I am looking for some chair friendly exercises and appreciate your suggestion DotRen, I hope to peek in again, I do have a lot to lose and will need to accept that it is going to be a long journey. I used to be able to drop 10 lbs a month on the exchange program (that was the original WW program) but as I have gotten older it takes a lot more to drop weight. Looking forward to getting to know all of you. To tell you a little about myself, I was born and raised in San Francisco and our 34 year old son is a 6th generation San Franciscan on my husband's side. We did leave our hearts there when we moved to NC 17 years ago but we have met many new people and moving here allowed me to go to school (late in life) and get my BSW and MSW and become a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and now I work at a State psychiatric hospital with adults. I look forward to peeking in again.

I got my new Brother SE600 sewing machine and it will take some time to learn. I've had my Singer Sew Mate for 10+ years and I'm used to it lol. One thing I'm going to have to really figure out is the back stitch/lock stitch thing. My singer, you hold the back stitch button and it will sew backwards as long a you hold the button. This one does 1-3 stitches only. I back stitch a lot making masks (to make sure the elastic is anchored well) so it's going to suck if this one won't do that. Otherwise, it came with some prewound bobbins and the thread on them is awful - super thin.I thought the tension was off, but I decided to thread my own bobbin and it worked great after that. Maybe it's supposed to be the thread for the embroidery function or something.
The power and foot pedal cords are nice and long, good bonus there! You can also unplug the foot peddle and just press a button to start/stop sewing!

DotRen - I'm glad you received your new sewing machine, and I hope you will be able to figure out everything. I'm sure you know to "google" the machine to check and see what people say about the back stitching. I'm sure someone on the Internet has talked about it It wouldn't surprise me that a "cheaper" thread was sent with the machine, you were smart to change it over to your own

I just emailed the governor lol. Right now our drivers license offices have been closed for months. Our local one has been closed for nearly a year because someone drove into it (irony, right?) and they've been rebuilding it - forever it seems. The closest ones are about an hour away. I did a long, respectful, email about how it will take more than the 3 months extension after they reopen for everyone who's expired during the closings to get through the system, and asked that he consider lifting the "in person" requirement (since I did mine online last time, so did JD) for people who have no restrictions on their licenses, and to help ease the burden on the offices once they open.
I didn't mention that people will forget to get them renewed by then, but that's a factor, too.
